Are you an ABO like me PO'd at JR for getting called a RINO? Truce declared! Please DONATE!

Attention "Anyone But Obama" (ABO) FReepers! If you go to the thread at the link you will will see that JimRob has "declared a truce" and hundreds of ABO FReepers are now vigorously defending their belief, which I share, that the ineligible Marxist Manchurian MUST BE DEFEATED to preserve the Republic...without fear of "the ZOT"! Please consider a DONATION not just to fund renewal of expression and amplification of your ABO views, but let's over-achieve this FReepathon to get JR his new equipment!

IMO, Free Republic and FReepers could be vital in swing states in rallying just enough conservatives to tip the election and prevent our troops from having to salute for even one day longer than necessary an ineligible Marxist committed to destroying the USA !

Next subject: How wearing knee pads for romney means that ethically you are holding the bloody basin for abortionists yourself.

I would be interested in hearing how much more you have done to stop abortion than your fellow freeper has. I mean, clearly you haven't managed to stop abortions from happening, probably even in your home town or state.

But what have you done? Have you been out there every week picketing the local abortion clinic? Did you go to your state legislature, and talk to each of the members urging them to pull funding for Planned Parenthood?

Did you lock yourself to an abortion clinic door, to keep women from getting in? Did you withhold your federal and state taxes, so that none of your money is used to pay for abortions?

Maybe you actually bombed an abortion clinic, or kidnapped an abortion doctor? Maybe you burst into an operating room, and killed a doctor before he was able to brutally murder an innocent child on the table? Maybe you just did sidewalk interventions, catching women and persuading them not to enter the clinic?

Did you at least donate regularly to the local crisis pregancy center, to help them persuade women not to abort their babies? Of course, Romney gave thousands of dollars to pro-life causes, but we all know that was just to buy their support -- on the other hand, the money serves the purpose, no matter what the reason given, so if Romney gave more money than you did, how can you accuse your fellow freeper of being pro-abortion for supporting Romney?

Seriously -- some people do more, some less. Where exactly do you draw this line of yours that allows you to claim that a fellow freeper is "holding the blody basin for abortionists" simply because he will vote for Romney? What exactly have you done that makes you LESS culpable for the murder than your fellow freeper?

If we all really believed in our hearts that abortion was murder, like we say, we'd all do more to stop it. I certainly don't do enough -- but then again, I don't accuse other human beings of being personally liable for the deaths, as if by being outraged I can claim moral superiority.

We had 7 RINOS versus 3 CONSERVATIVES in this primary and the Conservatives were accused of splitting the race.

I've heard that before as a joke about the bank board of directors voting for a new President from among their members. They had 9 Irish Catholics and 2 Jews.

When the voting was done there were 9 votes for one of the Irish guys, and 2 for one of the Jewish guys.

One of the Irishmen leaned over to his buddy and said "See how them Jews stick together".

Well, that's sometimes life ~

It’s ma’am and I believe only Christianity is the true faith. I make no apologies for that. That doesn’t make me a bigot, that makes me a Christian. I am an Evangelical, and I have no issues with Lutherans, Methodists, Baptists, Pentecostals, Eastern Orthodox or even Catholics - all which have various views on non-essential doctrine.

Learn your definitions, boy.

Now that is just funny.

Your folk send out 53000 Missionaries annually, your “prophet” tells the world that all of Christendom is an abomination, the very Christendom the LDS now demand to be a part of and equal partner in.

And you make the statement you just made?

Romney is, of course, a very competitive guy and having been groomed for this for years is going to do whatever it takes not to go down in flames as a failed president. His first term will be all about the economy...

Your definition of success, and that of Romney and Obama, are on opposite ends of the spectrum, my friend.

Obama's been a smashing success, and so will Romney.

I guess you don’t know the definition of what a bigot is.Thats a shame, most 5th graders could answer that question.

Most 5th graders are indoctrinated, and they would only give you the leftist, politically useful definition of a bigot.

For example, all conservatives are bigots.

The word "bigot" (among many other words) has seemingly become the exclusive property of the disingenuous left. Interesting, isn't it?

"Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice?"

-- George Washington, Farewell Address

"Oaths in this country are as yet universally considered as sacred obligations."

-- John Adams

"On the other hand, the duty imposed upon him [the president] to take care, that the laws be faithfully executed, follows out the strong injunctions of his oath of office, that he will "preserve, protect, and defend the constitution." The great object of the executive department is to accomplish this purpose; and without it, be the form of government whatever it may, it will be utterly worthless for offence, or defence; for the redress of grievances, or the protection of rights; for the happiness, or good order, or safety of the people."

-- Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833

"We have received it [the Constitution] as the work of the assembled wisdom of the nation. We have trusted to it as to the sheet anchor of our safety in the stormy times of conflict with a foreign or domestic foe. We have looked to it with sacred awe as the palladium of our liberties, and with all the solemnities of religion have pledged to each other our lives and fortunes here and our hopes of happiness hereafter in its defense and support. Were we mistaken, my countrymen, in attaching this importance to the Constitution...? No. We were not mistaken. The letter of this great instrument is free from this radical fault...No, we did not err!...The sages...have given us a practical and, as they hoped, a permanent Constitutional compact...The Constitution is still the object of our reverence, the bond of our Union, our defense in danger, the source of our prosperity in peace: it shall descend, as we have received it, uncorrupted by sophistical construction, to our posterity..."

-- President Andrew Jackson, Proclamation of December 10, 1832

"We, the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution."

-- Abraham Lincoln

"Consider well the important trust...which God...[has] put into your hands...To God and posterity you are accountable for [your rights and your rulers]...Let not your children have reason to curse you for giving up those rights and prostrating those institutions which your fathers delivered to you..."

-- Matthias Burnett

Which, this one?

I think that every conservative who gives a damn about this country needs to get off their ass and get to Tampa for the convention. We need to raise such an historic ruckus, that the delegates back away from nominating this POS for president. We need to force them to choose an honest conservative at this most pivotal moment in our history.

I don't think that sounds too realistic, and frankly kind of like the fantasy "draft Palin" nonsense I've seen.

It's dramatic but I can't see it happening.

Also, just so you and I are clear, if you do believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, you are a Christian. The fact you believe in reincarnation only showss you are a Christian believing an unbiblical spiritual viewpoint. In other words on this point you are not biblically orthodox.

Here’s what I would ask you to consider doing as part of your studies and thought pondering. If you do truly confess Jesus as Savior and Lord, you obviously believe Jesus is who He says He is (God the Son). You know He lived a perfect life, He never lied in His teachings. Everything He said verbally and in His preserved Word is true. Read what Jesus says about the afterlife. It is clear we only get one life, no reincarnation. His parable of the rich man who looks around and is content with all his goods, you fool, are you not aware God will require from you this very night, your life? Nobody comes back higher or lower, the rich man was going to be judged, not judged and returned as a slug. Seriously, use the bible as the Bereans did, finding the answers to their real questions.

"Someone up thread said they considered Joseph Smith A con Man."

We can more than "consider" him con-man. He was a con-man. A grifter. Here's some testimony under oath at trial:

"Josiah Stowell, a Mormonite, being sworn, testified that he positively knew that said Smith never had lied to, or deceived him, and did not believe he ever tried to deceive any body else. The following questions were then asked him, to which he made the replies annexed.

Did Smith ever tell you there was money hid in a certain glass which he mentioned?

Yes.

Did he tell you, you could find it by digging?

Yes.

Did you dig?

Yes.

Did you find any money?

No.

Did he not lie to you then, and deceive you?

No! the money was there, but we did not get quite to it!

How do you know it was there?

Smith said it was!

Addison Austin was next called upon, who testified, that at the very same time that Stowell was digging for money, he, Austin, was in company with said Smith alone, and asked him to tell him honestly whether he could see this money or not.

[Joseph] Smith hesitated some time, but finally replied, "to be candid, between you and me, I cannot, any more than you or any body else; but any way to get a living."

Here, then, we have his own confession, that he was a vile, dishonest impostor.

As regards the testimony of Josiah Stowell, it needs no comment. He swears positively that Smith did not lie to him. So much for a Mormon witness."

Within Buddhism, there are three levels of practitioner.

Practitioners of Initial Scope hope to improve their lot in this and future rebirths through the practice of the fundamental Hinayana teachings that Buddha Shakyamuni taught to all comers 2500 years ago. Though such practitioners may suffer less, they are still reborn into suffering in the endless cycle of rebirths.

Practitioners of Intermediate Scope have a broader goal. They practice the Hinayana teachings as well, but with a greater aspiration: to attain Nirvana, permanently free from suffering in endless uncontrolled rebirths.

Practitioners of Great Scope follow the Mahayana teachings that Buddha gave to some of his advanced students, and which surfaced more generally over the next thousand years as people became ready for them in cultures ripened by the Hinayana. The Mahayana teaches a more profoundly liberating understanding of reality, and also sets the aspiration of the practitioner beyond personal liberation from suffering. The aspiration is not solitary Nirvana, but to become a Bodhisattva, one who has renounced their own liberation from suffering until they have helped to save everyone else first. Standing at the door to Enlightenment, they vow not to go through it until every other being is first saved, and they work tirelessly towards that goal.

The Buddhism of Tibet is Mahayana Buddhism, but also mixed with Buddhist Tantric practices that came from the great monasteries of northern India in the second half of the first millennium AD. A Bodhisattva aspires to help others, but they can really only do so much because they lack the wisdom and power of an actual Buddha. A Bodhisattva, after eons of Mahayana practices, can become a Buddha, and thereby more definitively end the suffering of others, but some people are more strongly motivated to end others’ suffering as quickly as possible, not after eons. To fulfill this aspiration, they practice the incredibly powerful Vajrayana, harnessing the most powerful energies humans have at their disposal, and transforming the power of these energies through Tantric practices. Using such fuel and technology, many attain Buddhahood within a lifetime or two.

For most people who practice a religion at all, their aspirations rarely venture beyond the Hinayana scope at best. Hindus sometimes use Tantric techniques, but at best this is usually in a quest for personal liberation only. Christianity, with the exception of a few of the saints, goes no further (sorry, folks) than a type of Buddhism called Pure Land Buddhism (using deeds and faith to get oneself into a Heaven overseen by a Buddha). This is a branch, supposedly, of Mahayana Buddhism, but with only a rather weak nod to the Mahayana goal of becoming a Bodhisattva oneself.

Within the four sects of Tibetan Buddhism - all of which still beat everything else hands down - I believe the Gelugpa to be the best. It is a reform movement with an emphasis on virtuous behavior, such that it retains the power of the best practices of the other sects, while avoiding questionable practices and attitudes (which have occurred historically) that might bring dishonor upon Buddhism, especially in the modern world.

What really opened my eyes, abortion rates in MA fell after Romneycare. From what I’ve read and heard from conservatives who will not vote for Romney, the opposite should have been true.

Thank you. And shame on me for not doing my homework.

If you mean I won’t kill you anymore but the beatings will continue, well then I guess you can call it truce!
