Mitt Romney Will Do Just Fine, Thank-You [insulting the intelligence of the base is madness]
The American Thinker ^ | May 7, 2012 | J.R. Dunn, is consulting editor of American Thinker

Posted on 05/07/2012 3:20:54 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

The upcoming election will be one of the simplest of our lifetimes. It is defined by one axiom: Obama must be defeated.

[HUGE SNIP of must-read article]

So let us put away all thoughts of strife and disagreement. All wishful thinking and illusions. The real world beckons. There is no place for the ideal in this conflict. We will have other and better opportunities. For good or ill, Romney is the man of the hour. The only thing of importance is to defeat Obama and everything he stands for. The polls, the shifting attitudes of the country as a whole, and the stark fear arising among the progressives suggest that Romney can do the job. Lets us gird our loins and go amongst them.

Obama MUST be defeated but writers like Dunn, working overtime to insult conservatives, must be mad to continue rubbing salt into primary wounds and to downplay Obama's power to ruin the country.

How do writers who continue to write nasty remarks about the other candidates believe this will improve the base's mood and have them work for Romney?

The answer is that in the eyes of this author, the base will end up becomeing “ABO” or “anybody but Obama” folks.

Romney may be a leftist Republican, but I think that (unlike Obama), he loves America and wants to do what’s best for our country. Also, he has strong experience running businesses, and I think he’ll cut real unemployment in half within a year of his inauguration (from 20% underemployment to 10%).

We(tea party) defeated Obama in 2010. What did the Republicans do? They stabbed in the back the very movement that put them in power to stop Obama. I don't see much to celebrate if Romney wins.

' All this does not make him a conservative, but it does make him formidable. In simple truth, an actual conservative would have a hard time coming to grips with Obama. The entire Democratic/progressive/media machine is primed to annihilate such a candidate, who would spend all of this time defending himself with no chance to strike at Obama. Under these less-than-perfect circumstances, Mitt Romney is as close to a perfect candidate as we are going to get."

So Dunn admits Romney is not a conservative but he is formidable. A true conservative could not beat Obama? is this what the GOP has come down to? so long as we have a watered down republican that is fine with them. I suppose they like the status quo.

Staying home or voting for anyone but Romney pretty much assures an Obama victory.

Rick Snyder. He supports wind farms, High speed rail, socialized medicine, and figures that the best way to ease the tax burden on the rich is to dump it on the rest of us in the form of gas taxes. The GOP leadership is trying to pull off a trifecta, a super-hat-trick.

One, as long as the economy's in the tank, they don't want the Presidency. They want to avoid the blame and scapegoat the Democrats. Which is pretty brash, since they are the guys who went along with Phil "Bankers' Boy" Gramm in repealing Glass-Steagall and unleashing the Wall Street orgy.

Two, they want Obamacare as much as Obama and Nancy Pelosi want it -- but they want to scapegoat, again, and blame the Democrats and stand around saying "well, we tried" and "you know we gave it our all ..." and crap like that, when they were complicit as hell and guilty as hell about the passage of that giant POS. They helped it pass for their Fortune 500 CEO's who've been screaming bloody murder for 15 years for a way to dump their employee healthcare plans. Well, Obama's their Judas goat -- both parties' Judas goat. He and his Communist thugs got the bill through with maladroit legislative leger-de-Mace, and everyone else can pretend innocence, especially on the Republican side.

Three, Obama's vast crimes and derelictions, his imposture as a U.S. citizen (he may not even be one!), and all the rest, will be swept under the rug. The current Republican leadership will no more investigate or drag Obama out into the sunlight than George W. Bush did Bill Clinton, who was a Manchurian candidate, a traitor, a rapist, and many times a felon, even selling presidential pardons and stealing everything that wasn't nailed down as he and his wretched consort cankled out the door.

Mitt Romney won't touch Obama's crimes -- he'll limp-leg us like Dubya did, with some Karl Rove b.s. about how we need to keep focus and "not let the Democrats suck all the air out of the room" and "divert" the President's agenda with "other issues". Not even when the "other issues", are vast crimes with dead bodies attached to them.

That’s the thing about Obama. I will never understand how the American people elected as our leader a man who hates us and hates our country.

What other president has hated America? Certainly not Carter, for all his flaws and failures.

Maybe Woodrow Wilson, he seems to be a pretty hateful guy. Did he hate America?

And yes, Romney and ALL the others who ran, do love America which is why any single one of them would be a better president than the radical leftist Barack Obama.

The best solution may be voting GOP downticket, if you have a conservative to vote for (most do).

Romney in the White House, as I just posted, will be Zero help -- pun intentional -- and will actually do more damage than Obama, because Romney would be the titular leader of the GOP and would define all issues and platform planks. He could -- and will -- deliberately push the Tea Party into a corner, because RiNO's hate their own base. They hate our guts. Start latching onto that fact and getting your mind around it.

With Willard the nominee, the only way out of our jam is to get a 2/3's majority in the Senate in this rare opportunity to do so -- and use it to drag Obama out of the White House by impeachment and conviction. Even if some RiNO senators refuse to vote for Obama, even if you get another Democratic party-line vote to sustain him, you will damage them and their party with the People, you will defeat the Media filters and be able to lay your case directly before the People, whose attention you will have for a change without 'Rat-B*stard Press intermediation.

In fact, I've made the case in this space for the political utility of impeaching AG Holder now, and forcing the Senate Democrats to vote down the line for him this fall, with us looking down their throats. Talk about defining some issues and hanging them around the 'Rats' necks -- but again, the RiNOs are playing to lose and are more interested in screwing us than working against the Democrats.

I don't think Romney won by running on a conservative platform at all, he mostly ran a scorched earth campaign against his rivals, depressed turn out, and now has to figure out if he can convince the base he is better than Bambi.

I'm going to vote for him because an orange juice can is better than the evil Bambi has to offer, and because of that I find it insane to work against the GOP nominee who is running against such evil. I will work and hope for more conservatives on the down tickets to press Romney to the right, and would love to be surprised to find out he's better than I think (not holding my breath).

Romney isn’t Conservative by any means. Romney is a liar, but that appears to be a qulification for President , not a Hindrance.

Romney is the biggest POS the Republicans could have put up, and his only chance is that Obama is so bad that people would rather have half a Shyt sandwich than a whole one.

It is said here that Romney would hurt more than Obama because the GOP would get the blame for his failure, well with Obama blaming everything on the GOP anyway, what difference would a little more blame do?

We can speculate on how bad Romney would be.
WE KNOW how bad Obama is.

I choose to speculate.

But I don’t want the status quo. We need to work on the debt, cut spending, reverse regulations, defend the COTUS. I’m stuck with being ABO, but really hating Mittens, and wondering if a protest vote will have any impact after the MSM spins it.

As much as I share the antipathy for republicans and their complicity, I think your blanket condemnation goes too far.

I would focus on the GOPe as complicit in passage of Obamacare.

The real culprit was Arlen Specter who changed from R to D and voted for Obamacare. Without his vote the vote for cloture would have failed and Obamacare would have failed along with it.

"Specter was elected to the Senate five times as a Republican. Having never been elected as a Democrat, he switched parties and became a Democrat on April 30, 2009 and switched his positions on a number of health care issues, ultimately voting for ObamaCare."

http://healthcare-coalition.org/_blog/Prescription_For_Disaster/post/Mr_President,_Do_You_Really_Want_to_Talk_About_an_Unelected_Court,_Look_at_the_Senate_that_Passed_ObamaCare/

But Specter was ousted and hence paid the price of his betrayal.

Other than Specter who was a democrat at the time he voted, every republican voted against Obamacare

"There is no place for the ideal in this conflict."

In other words, this writer has no moral compass. Expedience, IMO, does not trump the Right. As it says in the song, Truth is a fixed star.

I cannot and will not vote for Romney. He is not a Conservative. He does not share our values. He blows as the wind blows and will adopt any position necessary to advance his own interests. Watch him move to the Left once he secures the nomination.
