Wow, look at those enthusiastic faces surrounding Romney!
Now that the race [is] a two-person contest, Mr. Romney ought to be able to bring more small donors in, said Michael J. Malbin, executive director of the Campaign Finance Institute (CFI), a Washington-based think tank. But to do so, some things will have to change. He will have to gain more passionate support or more committed support as opposed to respect. He will have to make a real effort to find these people and go after them. This campaign at several points has said that it was doing so, but we do not see much evidence of that.
Even if Mr. Romney goes after smaller fish, its not clear the GOP rank and file are eager to hop into the presumptive nominees net.
Not unless Im struck by a lightning bolt from on high, said Emma P. Routh from Franklinville, N.C., who fired off a $100 check to Mr. Santorum in March, weeks before the former senator from Pennsylvania dropped out of the race. She said it might take divine intervention to get her to send a similar check to Mr. Romney.

>>You are choosing to believe the campaign promises of Hope and Change from a proven and documented Liar, Mitt Romney. <<
No, I am stating for fact that Romney likes America enough to keep it from being turned over to the Communists and Jihadis, while BO is waiting for his “next election” to do exactly that. AND put his specially picked Justices in for life.
Romney had a liberal congress in a liberal state to screw up. You have no record of Romney with a conservative congress and a conservative state. Only BO thinks that we elect a dictator.
The REAL best bet for Romney would be to get a first rate running mate: I nominate Allen West. If West doesn’t get you fired up, nothing will!
In other news, dog bites man.
Romney is cozy with Muslims and a Global Warmist. What’s the diff?
Romney moving into the White House would be the equivalent of slumming for him. Not to push the class envy card but he is dripping in money and I do wonder if the time has come when only millionaires will be able to run for president.
The money spent on his campaign to date is mind boggling. How in touch will he be with the Plumber Joe’s of America?
IF conservatives win control of the senate and maintain control of the house..they can BORK Obama’s supreme court nominees
He may be a nut but he is our nut. And anything to deny Romney the nomination sounds good.
“Not unless Im struck by a lightning bolt from on high, said Emma P. Routh from Franklinville, N.C.”
Emma sounds like a FReeper :)
Common sense. If President Obama had any such plans he would have accomplished same in his first term, never leaving a second term to chance. And Romney likes America? Romney likes Romney. I have previously said I would gnaw my arm off before voting for Mitt Romney.
I agree. And once again, trying to convince others to vote for Romney by expressing the fear that if Obama is re elected the world as we know it will end and dogs and cats will be sleeping together is not persuasive.
I cannot believe that West would run with Romney. I think it would cost him his credibility. And from what I know of West, he is too smart to do that. I have a hard time believing he would accept the VP position with Romney.
And Obama has a record of ignoring congress, ignoring the constitution and frittering with communists, jihadis and Marxists.
Love your country more than you hate the GOP-e.
>>IF conservatives win control of the senate and maintain control of the house..they can BORK Obamas supreme court nominees<<
And if we don’t win the congress? There are a whole lot more if comes with counting on a conservative senate than just voting the Muslim loving Marxist out of office.
Let’s face it, odds are pretty well against us to get a Super Majority of conservatives. That would be what we need to stop Obama in his tracks.
>>Common sense. <<
Far from common sense.
Listen to BO’s own words. He told Putin that he will have much more flexibility after his NEXT election. He said NEXT.
To assume that BO will not continue to go forward with his Muslim Brotherhood/community organizer plans is foolish.
The sin of pride prevents a lot of people from doing what they ought to do.
IF dems control congress they may Bork Romney’s nominees. Which I would hope are nothing like the liberal judges Gov Romney appointed in Mass.
We need a strong grassroots movement in the statewide elections where conservatives work their asses off for the nominees. We also need to hold the republicans accountable for their votes and non votes. So far they have been wimps on more occasions than I care to remember.
“Geniuses” like Dick Morris claimed during the primary that we’d lose the election if we didn’t have a candidate until the convention because they wouldn’t be able to start their general election campaign until 2 months before the election. Well, now we have a candidate, but he still can’t start his general election campaign, because he’s still fighting for the support of the base. My advice to Romney is to give up fighting for the base. It’s not going to happen. The base are very smart, very well-informed, very dedicated to their cause and they can sniff out who is or is not one of them, and you’re not. His only shot would be to go full-bore for the moderates/independents and soft liberals no matter how much it risks ticking the base off and no matter how much of a financial disadvantage it causes him. And he needs to bus Utah Mormons all over the country and set up LDS encampments because he won’t be getting a lot of the usual volunteers from the base.
>>You are truly are supporting an evil choice, a lessor of two evil choice for sure, but a choice, that I believe, that long term will be much more disasterous for the GOP than Obama would ever be. <<
I don’t give a rat’s behind about the GOP. I’m a registered Independent and have been since I voted for Reagan.
However, I love my country. I love her so much that I will sacrifice some comfort to save her. I don’t like Romney, he is a lying snake, but Obama is a Muslim loving, Israeli hating, Marxist who is willing to gift Poland, Slovakia and all of Eastern Europe to the Russians.
The Muslim Brotherhood is in the TSA under Obama.
I think the problem with a lot of conservatives, oddly enough, is triumphalism. A lot of us believe that we are the majority, which is false. When the media polls for conservatives and gets a majority %, they are including blacks and Hispanics, who are social conservatives, but economic liberals, and always vote overwhelmingly for Democrats. Bottom line is every Democratic administration is an opportunity for the Democrats to assemble a new entitlement that permanently buys them the block of recipients eligible for it. While we're out RINO-hunting, the Democrats are permanently reducing the number of conservatives with new costly and irreversible entitlement programs.
You have it pegged.
Good old Myth sent me an email asking for $21.50...so I deleted it. The GOP-e got their RINO, they can pay to get him elected.
Don’t expect anyone who God is #1 with them to associate themselves with that cult leader with his evil ways. Cults think they found a better way - there is only One Way, JESUS! I hate EVIL with a passion. Either one hates evil or embraces it, there is no in between.
Could be the very reason backstabber mitt is running.
Leave it up to the media to tweak out a paragon of mature judgment like good ol' Emma here. Not exactly a 'wise Latina" but close enough for media work. I'm sure she'll "fire off" a check to Ron Paul next.
Geez. What squat.
“I personally think Paul is crazy... but who knows... maybe he is crazy like a fox :)”
Nope, crazy like a loon.
I don’t see Obama loving my country when he implements Gay Marriage, a Carbon Cap-and-Trade system, an Assault Weapons Ban, and Socialized Medicine.
America wont see Romney doing any of that.
well said.
You are so very welcome. And, a good day to you as well.
Not one dime from me. Romney’s team is smoking crack if they think conservatives, even the variety who are puking and pulling the lever for him, are going to fund him or work for him.
I have donated this season to Perry, Gingrich, Santorum, and now Goode. I intend to support a conservative. Period.

I would bet that if hed waited to announce until AFTER Sarah Palin announced that shed declined to run, half of the most vociferous critics of Perry would be supporting him The other half are wolfs in sheeps clothing shilling for Romney or theyre Ron Paul true believers.

same here! Mitt can do the country a service by reminding voters who Newt really is. Then he can go sit down and shut up.

I HATE these smug sanctimonious so-called Christian bigots who spew this kind of vomit! There are about 150 good, solid and responsible reasons not to vote for Romney and even more reason not to vote for huntsman. To go the bigoted route is despicable. Im ashamed that these people call themselves conservative!

I still stand by those posts. I still hate the idea that Romney will be my party's candidate and that if I want obama out of the WH...and I wholeheartedly do!...then I see no realistic alternative to voting for Romney.
I'm a three time loser in my choice of candidates. I was very pro-Cain until he came up with that ridiculous 9-9-9 slogan disguised as a tax plan. Then I supported Perry...to no good end and finally Santorum. Maybe I should just throw my jinxy mojo behind obama and see what happens.
My point: I’m trying to win you back. :>)
The underscored point you made put it best: There are 150 reasons not to support Romney. You wish he’d just shut up, that Romney-bots are disgusting, and elsewhere that Romney is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Remembering you from the Perry, Cain, and Santorum threads, I’d like you to simply check out the conservative credentials of Goode.
Take a look at 2004. We had a Republican Congress and a Republican President and the Congress was absolutely an embarrassment to conservatives.
The result was a loss of control of Congress in 2006 and a loss of control of the White House in 2008.
With Romney as President, many (if not most) Republicans in the Senate and House will be able to give up their pretense of opposing big government, big spending and big programs.
The ABO's here are going to be shocked and dismayed.
Exactly, Romney will complete the Socialists’ takeover of both major political parties.
The only problem with your analysis is that the GOP has done quite a bit of its own new costly and irreversible entitlement programs.

And it will continue to do so. Nixon came up with the new Hispanic protected minority category that entrenched racial preferences for millions of people. Reagan came up with the amnesty program that legalized millions of Democrats, and is responsible for turning California deep blue (and Texas a little further down the road) and other states near Mexico a distinct purple*. Bush I raised taxes so Clinton could take credit for reducing them. Bush II came up with No Child Left Behind and Medicare Part D. And yet any of these Republicans would have been superior to any of the Democratic alternatives.
* I'd argue Reagan was probably the worst of them all, in terms of destroying GOP majorities - his importation of tens of millions of illegals created irreversible (and adverse to the GOP) demographic facts on the ground. We are very fortunate that the GOP grassroots were able to prevent Bush II from enacting his immigration reform, but I think it's undeniable that either Gore or Kerry would have been worse than Bush II.
West is first and foremost a Patriot, and I think he’ll do whatever he can for America.
Point taken. I believe you are right about West.
What you said SoConPubbie. I agree.
thanks for that link...a wonderful discussion..and a true measure of the problem We the People have allowed to fester in DC....
