A Mormon in the White House
New York Post ^ | May 5, 2012 | Maureen Callahan

-snip-

62% [of mormons] say that Americans are “uninformed” about the religion. Yet the reluctance of most Mormons to discuss their beliefs and customs with non-members only adds to secular suspicion that the church is a cult.

-snip-

Romney would also be assigned two “home teachers” — fellow Mormons who live in his vicinity and would visit with Romney once a month, probably in the White House, to counsel him on his faith and general emotional state

-snip-

Less than two hours after my visit — despite giving staffers only my first name and filling out no paperwork — I was startled to get a voicemail on my cellphone from someone identifying himself as a prophet, saying that he’d like to “start interceding for your life” and asking me to call an 800 number to join a prayer circle.

-snip-

says that she specifically asked to be moved to [Sen. Harry] Reid’s Maryland chapel, because she has a relative who’s gay and her former place of worship housed some older, bigoted congregants.

She’ll be worshipping with Brother Romney should he win. Even if he loses, however, author Feldman thinks that his nomination itself is a watershed moment.

“That so many Americans don’t know he’s a Mormon, and that his religion wasn’t a factor in this primary — as it was four years ago — that’s directional,” he says. “ It’s a historically significant moment, and it’s progress. We’re improving as a country.”

From the article:

“Yet the reluctance of most Mormons to discuss their beliefs and customs with non-members only adds to secular suspicion that the church is a cult. “

What the heck?

This journalist can’t be serious!

Just the other day, I had two Mormons show up on my doorstep wanting to talk about their beliefs!

In fact, once they got going, I couldn’t get them to shut up about their beliefs and customs long enough to get a single word in edgewise!!!

Of course, I’m fairly confident that THAT is the main reason people suspect Mormonism to be a cult!

Cheers

P.S. - They finally shut up and left quite hastily when I was finally able to interrupt them long enough to inform them that my wife had been ex-communicated from the Mormon church!

We have a commie in the WH who wears mama jeans and tosses a bb like a girly man, who never had a real girlfriend, and someone is worried about a Morman?

Give me a break!

For someone who seems to have at least attempted to do research for the article, she sure got an awful lot of simple things wrong.

When john mccain beats your arse like a bass drum... you are a LOSER... and mitt cannot win... he will lose because he is a progressive, lying, big government, baby killing, gun grabbing bishop... in a science fiction based religious cult.

Yet the reluctance of most Mormons to discuss their beliefs and customs with non-members

Really? A couple of them show up on my doorstep every other month to discuss those. I have had Mormon employees who never seemed shy about discussing them. My dad used to get the full-press recruiting treatment when he went to Utah on business, once they found out how many kids he had. They send their kids off to far-off parts of the world when they turn 19 to share them.

The author does not know their arse from Shinola.

There’s “official” Mormonism with its clean if severe living ideals, then there is nod-and-wink Mormonism. Mitt is more characterized by the second.

The Bishop is actually among the most devout, most devoted Mormons, a part of the most holy 15% of the members of Mormonism, a member of the inner sanctum, and of higher status than almost all of even that 15% of the most devout.

Mormons rarely discuss their religious beliefs. They discuss their church’s religious beliefs.
Protestants have a hard time with this because we rarely follow our church’s beliefs completely.
For instance, I am a Methodist but I have a Presbyterian view of Communion.

Yeah, just like the ‘Wink, Wink, Nod, Nod Catholics who look the other way as regards the likes of Pelosi, Biden, Sebillius, et.al, who routinely go against the tenets of their religion, to say nothing of the hoards of “secular progressive Jews.” who sell out their people in Israel ( as well as those here in the US). I will venture a guess that even the vaunted “Evangelicals” have non-adherents in their midst though they are too pious to admit it.

I’ll take a Mormon over a Marxist any day.

Absolutely, my FRiend. I'll support a Mormon (even one named Willard) over a Marxist (and/or a muslim), and I'll do so with great energy and enthusiasm.

America and Americans and our ways and our culture and our freedoms and our property are in jeopardy; and, I fear that there could be no coming back from an Obama second term.

Mormons will try to convert you, but they are extremely reluctant to discuss their beliefs and customs with non-Mormons.

Get the Priests over to your house and try to ask some in-depth questions, you will see evasiveness, slipperiness, and out and out denial that you will never see in a Christian missionary.

“Meat before Milk” Mormons are trained to bring you along slowly and feed you only enough information for that stage of indoctrination.

See post 29, and we can assume that Bishop Romney will ascend to higher levels within the religion in time.

The Bishop is not an indifferent Mormon, he is one of it’s most devoted leaders.

Romney hates America EXCEPT when it helps himself.

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Liberation theology or Mormonism...? If these are my choices when voting, I will go Mormonism. As reasons for why I wish I had a different candidate than Romney, Mormonism is down there in the non issue pile.
