The International Brotherhood of Teamsters endorsed President Obama Monday, calling his likely Republican opponent Mitt Romney a "vulture capitalist" whose election would amount to a "fox guarding the henhouse."
"He represents everything that is wrong with our financial system. He made his money as CEO of Bain Capital by destroying U.S. businesses, sending good-paying American jobs overseas and filling his pockets with millions while putting workers out on the street," Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa said in a release.
The organization's endorsement comes with a promise to put "boots on the ground" in all fifty states.
"Working families know who is fighting for their rights, and it sure isnt Mitt Romney," said Teamsters general secretary-treasurer Ken Hall in a statement. "President Obama has worked hard to make sure that Wall Street is held responsible for ruining our economy, enacting the most sweeping financial reform package since the Great Depression."
While Obama's relationship with labor hasn't always been easy given the failure of union-backed legislation like 'card-check' during his first term, the president praised the union as a voice for social justice.

Have the Teamsters ever endorsed a Republican?
They’re the only ones who think that about Romney.
Definitely went for Reagan in 80.
Then Ubama must not be Carter II after all.
Reagan successfully cultivated a lot of union support.
He would be totally unacceptable by FR standards today.
all you republicans who are in non-right to work states should pay real close attention to where your union dues are going and demand that your union return them to you. You do have that right but thet’ll never tell you so !!
There’s probably a distinction between the union management’s endorsement of Obama, and that which the rank and file believes, in this election perhaps more than any other.
I know truck drivers, I know assembly line workers who belong to the teamsters, and the ones I know will not vote for Obama.
Reagan built a great conservative coalition. Life, Liberty, Small Government, Strong Defense! THAT seems to be impossible today.
Big surprise the Teamsters endorse Obama./
They endorsed Nixon, I believe in 72
Hasten to add, Patriotic Americans of every stripe, including blue collar workers.

Proud, hardworking, patriotic Americans of every stripe, including blue collar workers!!
They endorsed Nixon in 72, and would you believe it, Nixon let Hoffa out of prison. Must of been a coincidence.
is Politico trying to win the Pulitzer for “Most Cliches in a News Story”?
Yup. It’s a “water makes you wet” story from O-litico.
“fox guarding the henhouse.” ?? At least there will be a henhouse when Barry goes. It’ll probably be a much larger, natural gas fed henhouse.
What a surprise! The headline might as well read: Communists Endorse Communist. Well, duh.
If you vote for a communist, what does that make you?
Pray for America
George Meany, head of the AFL-CIO at the time, was asked why he didn't run for president. His curt response was "I don't want to step down."
Of course, as a supply chain manager, I have the right to endorse trucking companies which are not affiliated with the Teamsters or any other left-wing union by giving them my business. And I do.

Before the commie FBI snitch Ron Carey, the teamsters were always conservative
then the DOJ took them over and inserted the commies from Rich Trumpka's mineworkers union
James P. Hoffa and the teamsters union are currently a totally owned subsidiary of the DOJ.
Since the teamsters signed off on the Consent Decree the DOJ effectively runs the union under a federal trusteeship
Hoffa Lite doesn't sneeze without an OK from DOJ

Teamsters could be the poster children for most anti-union campaigns.
I was at a hotel bar with a liberal, discussing the typical left/right things, while at a large table next to us were a bunch of Commie Teamsters bitching about how Bush only cared about oil. As typical with union scum, they could not complete a sentence with the F word.
I leaned over to my liberal debating partner and asked, do these morons even know what their trucks use for fuel? He had to admit he was embarrassed that people he would normally support were so totally ignorant.
And rightfully so. I proudly cast my first vote for Nixon. Little did I (or the rest of us) know he would turn out to be one of the top five most liberal presidents of the 20th century.
Don’t understand your premise.
Just as all the candidates for the R nomination were shredded on FR this season, Reagan would have been also - jmho.
Endorsed by the Teamsters? OMG we can’t vote for him, no way.
