Jake Tapper to Carney: How about you cut the crap and admit that Obama supports gay marriage?

Via the Examiner, what are the odds that Joe Biden and Arne Duncan and, oh, 99.9 percent of the rest of the liberal intelligentsia support legalizing gay marriage but The One doesn’t? It’s getting harder every day to sustain this charade, which is why Axelrod is suddenly eager to change the subject:

Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod on Monday pivoted sharply to Mitt Romney’s views on gay marriage when reporters pressed him on the president’s stance on the issue.

On a conference call with reporters, Axelrod said there’s a “clear distinction” between Obama’s views on gay-rights issues and the presumptive GOP nominee’s views.

“There couldn’t be a starker contrast on this issue than with Gov. Romney, who has funded efforts to roll back marriage laws in California and other places,” Axelrod told reporters on the call.

In turning to Romney, Axelrod ducked a question from a reporter on whether Obama supports gay marriage.

Actually, I can’t decide whether the back-to-back Biden/Duncan endorsements are a case of those guys going rogue or something they’re coordinating with O’s campaign to test the waters on Obama himself possibly backing gay marriage. He wants to avoid that if he can lest his position alienate a key constituency (he’s already in trouble with seniors), but maybe he can’t avoid it. Like Chuck Todd says, the less “Wall Street money” Obama takes in, the more important “gay money” and other fundraising sources become. Beyond that, if the economy continues to stall, The One will become increasingly desperate to change the subject — so much so that he might prefer to roll the dice on backing gay marriage in hopes of creating a sensational distraction. It’d be a risky play, but if the new post-austerity Europe performs the way everyone expects, the odds of the U.S. economy recovering before November will deteriorate and he’ll be a very long longshot to win. A culture-war campaign could be his Hail Mary pass. Anyone seriously believe it would work, though?

Two clips here, one of Tapper and the other of Carney once again trying to explain Obama’s position on same-sex marriage. I think he’s saying that O supports civil unions and that he opposes any state attempts to repeal domestic partnership rights once they’ve been granted, i.e. a one-way ratchet, but I’m not sure Carney’s 100% confident that he understands Obama’s position on this either. Oh, and as for Axelrod’s point about Romney opposing gay rights, here’s a PDF reminder of where Mitt stood circa 1994. Is the real Romney a gay-marriage opponent who was pretending to support “full equality” then in order to get elected in a blue state or is he a gay-marriage supporter who’s pretending to oppose full equality now in order to get elected in a purplish nation?

Who could *possibly* doubt that Osama Obama supports homosexual “marriage”? One thing that *hasn't* been firmly established, however,is if he supports marriage between people and livestock. My guess is that he does but I can't be certain.

At the moment 0bama has remarkably few 'differences' with Romney so it's difficult to figure out where to attack him ~ but gay marriage has got to be a winner.

Obama's analysts were trying to get him to attack Republicans on birth control for college girls ~ not a big item with most folks; they built a whole 'war on women' deal on that one. Obama himself told them to knock off the 'war on women' campaign because, as it turned out, more women lost jobs under Obama than under Bush.

So what is left? Well, there's gay marriage. Obama knows Romney doesn't have the support of the Conservatives or the Social Conservatives in general, and when it comes to this issue, Romney is really weak since he has been a huge supporter of gay rights ~ led the parade himself!

Obama has only to remind everybody that he's against gay marriage.

End of that story, but it's a start of a campaign.

Fiscally Obama has nothing to offer which is probably why the Fiscal Conservatives, the TEA Party and the reactionary Bourbon wing of the Republican party think they've got a regular smack down going with Romney versus Obama.

So, do they? Probably not. He installed Romneycare on Massachusetts and they are suffering massive population losses ~ actually lost a Congresscritter this last Census.

Are people dying faster because of Romneycare or are they running away from the greater cost of living in Massachusetts?

Obama's not going to raise that issue. Neither is Romney. He might lie, but Obama might lie too, and the public will know they are both responsible for jacking the cost of living up beyond the ability of the average guy to afford living in Massachusetts, and probably the United States.

No wonder they're soft on illegal aliens ~ they don't want more voters, they want more taxpayers!

considering he is a homo and married, guess that pretty much defines his position - pro-homo marriage.

Obama supports gay marriage, but the majority of the American people don't. Every time they take a public vote on the issue, gay marriage loses. It only wins in legislatures and courts.

Obama knows this and will try to hide his position prior to the election. He knows it is a losing issue with the public. He likes to take credit for being the champion of gay rights, but on the issue of marriage, he is a reluctant warrior.

So when will the media grill Obama on his support for repealing the DOMA a year ago?

We get to choose between Flip Romney and Barry FlopObama for POTUS this November! Yay!

What the MSM should be grilling Obama on is not enforcing DOMA, the law of the land passed by Congress. He took an oath to enforce our laws. He should be impeached.

There should be outrage from at least the Reps. Not a peep.

You are right about that, but the media is way too far gone to expect them to respect rule of law or Judeo-Christian ethics.

It just would point out their own hypocrisy in trying to paint Mitt as a flipper, but ignore Obama’s flop.

Obama wants to have it both ways. He states publicly that marriage is between a man and a woman, but his thinking is still evolving. In the meantime, he sends out his surrogates, Biden and Duncan, who support gay marriage as a way to send the message to the gay community that he will change things in a second term.

What I found to be the most insulting was Carney bragging that Obama has decided not to enforce parts of DOMA, a US law approved by Congress and signed by the President (Clinton.) Since when does the Constitution allow the President to enforce the law selectively?

The Constitution has been getting ignored for a century now. I think it started with the Civil war, and most surely the “Federal Reserve” in 1913.

I first noticed it in my lifetime when they set a national 55 mph speed limit (55 saves lives...)

The Fedgov did not have the constitutional authority to pass that law, so they withheld Federal highway funds from states that did not comply. I call that blackmail.

You are right. Federal money always comes with strings attached whether it is highway money or education money or health care money.

I’m sure that any true Constitutional scholar would understand that the Constitution was written with a purpose of not letting the Fedgov use funds to usurp state’s rights or people’s rights as well.

What do I know anyway. My grandfather and father went overseas to fight tyranny with cartridge boxes, while today I see the ballot boxes as an epic failure to prevent it here.

In the election before last, I stood in line for an hour and was told I could not vote. Motor voter had worked for me before. I called the fraud hotline because their is no race pimp machine to march for my disenfranchised white self.

I was supposed to be given a provisional ballot, and the election workers failed to provide it.

I had moved again before the last election, and the same thing happened, but I was prepared (sort of). I asked for a provisional ballet, and the poll worker told me that my vote would not be counted, it was just to make me feel better about voting.

The Going On Progressive party is just forcing establishment hacks on us anyway, so why bother? I might as well stay home and get involved in an authentic activity like watching “pro” wrestling.
