RNC official: Romney’s “still deciding what his position on immigration is”

The Republican National Committee attempted to walk back a potentially bruising botched response Tuesday after an official said Mitt Romney is still making up his mind on immigration.

“As a candidate, to my understanding, he’s still deciding what his position on immigration is,” said Bettina Inclan, the RNC’s director of Hispanic outreach…

Within minutes, as Inclan’s comments started spreading on Twitter, RNC spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski stepped in and said Inclan’s comments had been misconstrued.

“We never said the governor is still deciding on immigration,” said Kukowski. “I want to make sure we are exponentially clear.”

Any “severly rational conservative” should understand that he intends to deport all the illegal-aliens except for eleven plus million that he is going to give amnesty.

That’s actually a sensible position (shock! from Mitt of all people). Be permissive about immigration per se, but make it very unattractive to be here illegally.

Romney’s backside has to hurt from perching on the fence all the time.

Not possible , though.
IIRC, courts have already ruled that illegals cannot be denied the same welfare benefits available to citizens. We’d have to cut the freebies to everybody (good idea!) but fat chance of that!

I swear, I’m going to vote for Ron Paul—he’s the only choice left......

I think he may have damaged some other organs straddling those fences.

It's a strange thing that just days after Ann Coulter declares Romney to have the greatest immigration policy since John Adams and the Alien Sedition Act, the RNC (that's the GOP establishment for those of you in Rio Linda), hedges their bets on his policy.

I'm not even sure the GOP establishment wants Mitt to win.

A “Romnesty” that called for making the least disobedient segment of illegales into permanent residents without the ability to become citizens unless they then spent five years or more back in their home countries, might make sense.

Shoot, Democrats shouldn’t really care. If they can get the dead to vote, these permanent permanents will be a piece of cake.

And in the meantime... why can’t the US ding Mexican assets for the cost of this welfare?

I think that has something to do with international banking law.

If I were to write in a choice, it would be Sarah Palin. Paul will not run as a third party candidate, as best as I can gather.

Magic 8-ball and Etch a Sketch - not toys but essential tools for Myth.

Sorry, I can’t bring myself to vote for this guy, as much as I hate Zer0.

He’ll have liberal policies out the wazoo and will slide them past compliant R’s and complicit D’s in Congress.

I said it. Myth is worse for America than Zer0. At least the GOP will TRY to fight Zer0. Myth? I doubt it.

Why would we believe that the GOP in Congress will automatically swallow Mitt proposals?
