Top Obama Donors Withholding Money From His Super PAC (Outraged He Didn't Sign E.O. On Gay Workers)

There’s a price to pay for not being fabulous.

Via WaPo:

Some leading gay and progressive donors are so angry over President Obama’s refusal to sign an executive order barring same sex discrimination by federal contractors that they are refusing to give any more money to the pro-Obama super PAC, a top gay fundraiser’s office tells me. In some cases, I’m told, big donations are being withheld.

Jonathan Lewis, the gay philanthropist and leading Democratic fundraiser, is one of many gay advocates who has been working behind the scenes to pressure Obama to change his mind. When Obama decided against the executive order last month, arguing that he would pursue a legislative solution instead, advocates were furious — such a solution will never pass Congress, the executive order has been a priority for advocates for years, and the move smacked of a political cave to conservatives who will not support Obama no matter what he does.

Now these and other donors are beginning to withold money from Priorities USA, the main pro-Obama super PAC, out of dismay over the president’s decision. (Some of these donors have already maxed out to the Obama campaign, I’m told.) It’s the first indication that areas in which Obama is at odds with gay advocates — and in fairness, his record on gay rights has been very good — could dampen overall fundraising.

You have to wonder what %'age of the Dem Party is funded by wealthy gays?

You can't name too many other groups that have got a larger percentage of what they wanted from this administration.

Don’t those queers understand? It’s just like the russians. Give him a little more space, he’ll screw over the voters AFTER the election, not before.

Personally, whatever your view is on this issue, Obama is showing himself to be a coward all around.

Now that “gay tolerance” is de rigueur, it sounds almost like a non issue. I said almost, because there are always those who want to flame big and loud and will manage to offend people who otherwise wouldn’t care what the gays did on their own time.

He leads on nothing. He uses others to push his agenda and always leaves an out for himself in the form of someone to blame when it fails.

And he'll be even more of a coward now to his base after tonight in NC.

“You have to wonder what %’age of the Dem Party is funded by wealthy gays?”

I work in Hollywood and that’s an understatement of a question. Did you see that video of Gingrich who answered the question of the fag about his views on homosexuality and Gingrich answered gracefully? That’s the mentality of these rich homos and I meet them almost everyday at our company.

If you knew how many of these clowns actually drive a Prius with an Obama 2012 and EQUAL sticker at the back, you really will be surprised..

O’s afraid of the black vote...which is overwhelmingly against gay marriage, especially when they're calling it a “civil rights” issue. Blacks understand the difference between slavery emancipation and fabulous weddings.

He fears losing the black vote more then he fears losing the gay vote. He's walking a tight rope.

I have a liberal black coworker who swears that this is all a brilliant Obama strategy to trap Republicans like he did with birth control, but unlike that fight(where I could see trouble coming) I can see that this conflict is not in Obama’s best interest. He is trying to play it both ways and he is caught doing it, and there is no phony compromise he can make up that satisfies both his liberal base and independent voters as with the BC mandate,

If he surrenders now and says he has suddenly 'evolved' then Republicans can accuse him of being a slave to that group, much like his campaign strategy accuses Romney of being hostage to the Tea Party,

They have to understand that they have to wait until after the election, when he can be more “flexible”..

Maybe not the best term in this context. :)

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that just said "OUT" starting with Obama's "O". At first I thought it was a pro-gay thing, now I think it must mean they want Obama "out" of office. A little too ambiguous.

I've never seen the below bumper sticker IRL yet.

Democrats MUST LIE about their agenda because the vast majority of normal, decent, taxpaying, traditional American families reject that agenda out of hand. Can you imagine the rats simply telling the truth and running on their true agenda? Yikes... They’d get wiped out completely.

I think the arrogant Obama would tell these people to “go fu*k themselves” but they already - oh never mind.

I wonder if Obie will have the Village People perform at his reinauguration or more hopefully, his exit balls.

Looks like Biden threw the gay question out there on purpose. Considering the fact that all DC seems to think he should be off the ticket, what’s he got to lose. I’d sure as hell take pleasure in tossing a wrench into the mix. If he wasn’t a dem, I might think Joe’s not as stupid as he appears.

“Are gays the only democrat voting block that’s not largely on the government teet?”

They are, and that is why they get hysterical about cuts to the National Endowment for the Arts. It is like “gay welfare” or “gay wealth re-distribution”.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this story is being used to mask the fact that some wealthy donors (of any stripe) are hlding back because they see it as a waste of money; they are probably losing hope as we take heart.

“He fears losing the black vote more then he fears losing the gay vote. He’s walking a tight rope.”

Obama is racist enough to believe that there are no blacks who will vote against his economic policies; they do matter to some of them, and they seem him as an unmitigated disaster in the same way we do.
