Obama backs gay marriage, answering speculation on 'evolving' position (Sign an Executive Order)

President Obama on Wednesday endorsed same-sex marriages, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to take that position following days of speculation about his "evolving" stance on the issue.

The president used a hastily called TV interview to make his position clear.

"At a certain point, I've just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married," Obama told ABC News.

The president, who was previously opposed to the unions, explained that he's gone through an "evolution." Obama said he initially thought civil unions would suffice as a vehicle to give same-sex couples the rights commensurate with those of heterosexual couples. "I'd hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought civil unions would be sufficient," he said.

The facts are that Obama did sign an executive order when he eliminated Don't Ask, Don't Tell Law (mentioned in article), so there's no stopping him this time either.

“He has always been a liberal and he always will be a liberal and his beliefs will always fall on that side of an issue.”

He is so far beyond liberal, politically and emotionally, etc, it is dangerous that he is even in the White Hut.

“I hope that some reporter with guts asks Obama if he’s comfortable with the idea of Malia or Sasha marrying another woman in a few years.”

After all, he wouldn’t want them to make a mistake and be punished for it with a baby (re: abortion).

Teach them the way of the gay Obama, and you won’t have to worry about it.

So, the future of this country rests with who is in favor of same sex marriage? Yep, that's the biggest crisis we are facing.

Just another diversion.

“This alien creature in the White House is beginning to make me nauseated.....literally, figuratively and uncomfortably making me sick to my stomach.
Am I the only one feeling this way?”

Nope, MinuteGal (Leni?), you aren’t alone in this.

“I don't know about anyone else, but when I entered the military, I did not take an oath to fight on behalf of the president. He is Commander in Chief but loyalty is to the country. This may reflect his attitude but I certainly take offense to it.”

------------------------------ And, I join you it taking offense to Obama's vile utterance. Thank you for your service to America.

I have never been in the military, but my father (Navy) and 2 uncles (one Navy, one Army) were. Army uncle with a Purple Heart - the real kind of Purple Heart, not the John Kerry type.

In fact, it was only by accident that we even knew, years later, that he had been wounded. Really wounded, again not the John Kerry type.

He never flapped his mouth like Kerry did.

Kerry=ass. Obama, even worse.

“THIS is his solution to the ever-tanking economy? Gay weddings?”

Isn't this totally unbelievable? I hate to ask, but does this fella’ have any core, any sense of decency, any bit of soul?

I hate to say that but it is surely what is on my mind about his soul.

I better check my soul and ask for forgiveness.

But, I don't feel guilty calling Obama an ass.

Romney and Obama now agree on this issue. It’s disgusting.

Yes, “evolving” as well as “nuanced.” Some of us evolve. Others mutate. You don’t think John Kerry always looked that way, do you?

I would like to see a reporter ask:

Mr. President, if you had a gay marriage, what would your mate look like?

The plan is probably to now portray Republicans, and particularly Romney, as “weird”, intolerant religious wackos, who would force their religion on everyone.

We see it hear on the “multiple wives” comments. But truth be told, if a guy can marry a guy, why can’t another guy marry several guys?

The push polls are already claiming a majority of Americans support this nonsense. But whenever it has gone to a vote, traditional marriage wins. i don’t think this issue is going to have the same resonance when it is not specifically on the ballot in the Presidential election. Romney would have to make it a centre piece of his campaign in order to make the election a referendum on the issue. That’s not going to happen.

It’s a little more political than merely seeking money from gays. Obama knows he cannot win on the economy or foreign policy. With this move, he is trying to distract the electorate from his failures in those areas by injecting yet another social issue into the campaign. This is just a continuation of the contraception/ war on women meme, which is actually more than just a distraction from the economy and foreign policy. He is also targeting young people, who are more easily seduced than more experienced voters by tactics of this sort and who, after decades of indoctrination in public schools and universtities, tend to be more liberal than older people, especially when it comes to social issues.

Is this a photo shopped photo? I seem to recall this actually happening. In any case it is grotesque photo! But I wish a conservative Super Pac would make a post card of this abomination and mail it out (several times between now & the Nov 2012 election) to all 300 million (give or take 15-20 million illegals) residents of our country. Let the libturds & demoRATs & liberal media sputter & fume & get all huffy & red faced as they try to explain away 0dumb0sh_t’s hard kiss with Chavez.

Obama can't win without independents. And he's not going to win a whole lot of them over with this tactic. I think he would have preferred to keep his mouth shut on the issue, waiting until his 2nd term to make this statement. True, some college-age kids will be energized now over this, but I think overall they are now more concerned with the economy.

1 out of 6 of his bundlers is gay...these money men were pushing him and he is not getting cash many other places these days other than the perverts (which includes hollywood).
