House Republicans on Wednesday presented an amendment to a Department of Justice spending bill that would prevent Justice from using taxpayer funds to lie to Congress.

The bill, which is likely to pass, was presented by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and supported by several other Republicans who are outraged over a February 2011 letter from the department that denied any involvement in a gun-walking program....

On Tuesday night, the House voted to strip $1 million in funding from Justice in response to the Fast and Furious scandal.

A million dollar penalty for a Department? For breaking the law —a task for which they’re paid to ENFORCE..?

And it’s going to be “all better”...?

OMG that is ridiculous...!

Our TOP COP goes and kills US officers and 200 Mexicans, and THIS is the punishment..?

Trey Gowdy’s comments are priceless. He has been very persistent. I like him a lot.

When average people become convinced that the top folks can break the law with impunity, contempt for the law becomes COMMON —it spreads down to Joe’s walking down the street.

Pretty soon there’s CHAOS.

After Watergate a sitting President WENT AWAY —people went to JAIL, even when NO ONE DIED.

This is arguably the biggest scandal in US history —so far the top folks are either ignoring demands by Congress for evidence or simply sending witnesses away to the Middle East.

It’s rule by the Crips, apparently. This is a cynical and lawless Administration.

Iran Contra at least had the objective of FREEING AMERICANS —what did they aim at, here? The Constitution —the very document they swore to protect, so let the punishment fit the crime.

What makes you think this is meant to make things all better?

It is something.

Has anything else been done as a legislative punishment?

They are gearing up my dear, showing the direction they are headed.

That’s exactly what I thought. This Congress wants to pass a law against lying? That is too funny. Demand that he resign and if not start impeachment proceedings against Obama. Throw them out of office and put them in jail. No need for any more resolutions or laws. Sheesh.

$! million? This (if passed) will probably result in the DOJ having to cut out those $14 muffins they are so fond of. 1 million! That’s not even petty cash.

Lemmee see how I figger this one out Sapphire.

Government takes money out of my pocket at the point of a gun. Government gives that money to the Justice Department. Government then says to Justice Department give me Flint's money back. That will teach you a lesson!

I am making a great effort here to see how I win in this transaction.
