Americans with Disabilities Act covers ‘bashful bladder syndrome,’ could cost employers billions

It could cost U.S. employers between $2 billion and $4 billion to comply with an obscure Americans with Disabilities Act regulation meant to protect workers who are gun-shy in public restrooms.

According to an informal discussion letter the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued in August 2011, “paruresis” — more commonly known as “shy bladder syndrome” — qualifies as a disability under the amended Americans with Disabilities Act.

The ADA is a government document, and as such it was written as a benefit for special interest groups. I’ve been in a wheelchair for 30+ years, and I’ve seen and heard abuses that makes it clear that the ADA hurts the disabled as much as it helps.it needs
to be thrown out and rewritten by disabled people, and not government lawyers.

As with all other “feel-good” policies implemented at a level of government way above where it should be,

the probability of corruption and abuse is 100%.

Take food stamps, for example. If the local church were managing a food bank and saw someone come in with new jewelry, cellphone, manicures, hairdo, etc, every week,

they might start to question the “needs” or maybe just the financial choices of the individual.

Can’t do that with some far off bureaucracy with perverse incentives to get as many people on the program as possible.

It started when they hired some hempsmokin’ “liberal” as their 15th employee, and he was a “disabled” drug addict.

They couldn’t fire him because of his “disability”.
Then everyone else got into the slacker game.

Every bathroom I’ve ever been in (in N.America) has had a toilet stall. Go in there and close the door. “Problem” solved.

I AM older. If I had such problems, that’s what stalls are for.

LOL! We had an ambassador at one of our embassies who felt it her duty to post these very expensive little lucite wall signs everywhere, controlling every aspect of our daily work. This included (I'm not kidding here), how men in the embassy were to properly use the urinals. Over each urinal was a 5x7 wall sign in red lucite directing you to “STAND CLOSER! IT'S SHORTER THAN YOU THINK.”

Who better than Congress and the Federal government to find new and innovative ways of pissing away our money?

I have a friend who called this particular condition "stage fright."

I've always known it as "Piss Shy"...

Everyone has a disability...I know because I can never find a handicap parking space to load and unload my son that uses a power chair.

????

What about just using the sit down closed-in stall toilets?

I believe you have to get a written documentation from a doctor for the AWDA to apply, how is this diagnosed?

In a city near me, a wheelchair bound resident used the ADA to force the city to repair any sidewalks that were not perfectly level. His complaint was it was too dangerous for him to travel on them in his wheelchair. His complaint was upheld in court and it is costing this small city millions to make the repairs. As a result, the city building code was changed and future sudivisions are no longer required to install sidewalks.

I did some work at a food bank, once. One woman drove up in a fancy, new Lincoln Aviator to get a handout. The second time she showed up, the minister asked her who she was collecting for, and then told her this was for the truly needy.

“shy bladder syndrome” — qualifies as a disability under the amended Americans with Disabilities Act." My middle finger on my left hand is amputated, yet the DMV won't let me have a "disabled" license plate.

Think about it, not being able to stick your hand out the window and flip off other drivers, as they flip you off with impunity.

That’s what would happen,
and that’s why the left opposes local control of charity.
