Within about 90 minutes of Sarah Palin's endorsement of Texas Senate insurgent Ted Cruz on Thursday, rival David Dewhurst answered with a new TV spot in which former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee again vouches for the lieutenant governor and stresses his anti-abortion record.
In the 30-second ad, called "Values," Huckabee speaks to camera about the need to "turn our culture around." Then, as Dewhurst is shown walking outdoors with his wife Patricia, stepdaughter Carolyn and a horse, Huckabee intones:
"David's conservative leadership helped Texas pass more pro-life legislation than any state in America." At the bottom of the screen, a chyron mentions Dewhurst's endorsements by Texas Right to Life and the Texas Alliance for Life.

Sent campaign donation to Ted Cruz this morning. We don’t need another KBH fiasco in DC!
I think I’ll do the same.
Heard him on Joe Pags yesterday on WOAI. I got the impression he was spitting out his “proven record of” talking points as fast as he could. Turned me off a bit, as did his series of ads touting his dad’s experiences in Cuba as somehow making Cruz a better candidate. OTOH, I think Dewhurst has been in Texas politics way too long.
And, of course, Sarah’s opinion goes a long way with me (see tag).
My problem with Dewhurst isn’t over abortion. My problem with Dewhurst was his killing of the bills in the Texas legislature pertaining to illegal immigration and enforcement.
Dewhurst is a moderate RINO who wanted to raise taxes in Texas rather than reduce spending to balance the budget. Why would we send a man like that to washington?
it would be like employing a serial arsonist in a match factory!
I’m voting for Cruz. Dewhurst is a RINO. I’m encouraging my family to do the same.
On another note, Leppert recently picked up the endorsement of Troy Aikman.
Just proves what they are saying repeated concussions in the NFL.
It makes you endorse idiots.
Bwahahahaha! That'll show 'em. /s
In with the new & out with the old. I’m tired of the old established politicians. Go Cruz!
Huck’s support for Dewhurst will force me to vote for Cruz.
Actually Dewhurst has not been in Texas politics that long. He is not a career politician, never ran for public office until he was fifty-three years old, after making it in business.
He is a proven conservative and we are lucky to have him. Cruz might be conservative but he has never proven it in an elective office where you have to show yourself by engaging in the legislative and budgeting process and casting votes.
Dewhurst is going down!!
Seems kind of like answering a Corvette with a Corvair.
He is a proven conservative and we are lucky to have him.”
My opinion - Dewhurst works behind the scenes and is responsible for our having Strauss as Senate leader. In his current position he is able to wield a great deal of power and certainly has pushed legislation which moves Texas further left than true Conservatives want to be. There is also evidence that Dewhurst’s staff is the source of not totally truthful comments about Cruz. Texas deserves at least one Conservative Senator - we have a chance to replace RINO Kay Bailey in November by voting for Cruz. Then in 2014 Cornyn needs to go.
Palin v. the Huckster.
Who’re you going to trust?
Cruz for Senate.

1. Joe Strauss is not the Senate leader. He is Speaker of the House.
2. What leftist legislation in Texas has Dewhurst ever pushed? None!
3. What untruthful comments are you talking of? I’ve heard of no untruthful comments about Cruz.
4. Nothing against Cruz - but there’s nothing unconservative about Dewhurst. And Dewhurst has far more Texas time and experience, has military service, private business experience, legislative, budget, and leadership experience, all of which Cruz lacks.
5. How many more Harvard Lawyers can this nation take in the United States Senate? I just wish Cruz’ first crack at elective office was a little less ambitious than a U.S. Senate seat. Cruz might be conservative, I know Dewhurst is conservative.
DewCrist sucks !
And me as well..... and he acted as if he were proud of the disgusting act.

Well said. Go Cruz.

Questions?

Damn he shunned fellow pro Craig James........
Like nobody ever heard that one before.
No wonder conservatives remain the minority even within the only party that will tolerate us at all.
There’d be NO GOP without Conservatives. One left-wing party is enough. If country-clubbers like DewCrist are so desirous to appeal to the left, let them join the Democrats and stop the farce of claiming to be on “our” side.
You cite no evidence whatsoever for your groundless assertions about Lt. Governor Dewhurst. Left-wingers are the kind of people who make false accusations against good conservatives such as Dewhurst.
You obviously are a left-wing plant, or you are just parroting what you have heard said by less qualified people who want the same job as future U.S. Senator Dewhurst.
Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is the opposite of a “country clubber” which proves you know nothing of Dewhurst or you are a demo.
Just because you refuse to listen to or read the numerous sources along with the personal experiences of FReepers on DewCrist doesn’t change the facts. Your own personal opinions and attacks on my character based on your own shockingly limited time on FR make it absolutely clear what you are...
BTW, what is it with you n00bs/trolls that degrade actual Conservatives as “Democrat supporters”, when we neither want those Communist abominations, nor your big government Socialist RINOs ? You keep veering from one crackpot attack to the other... either we’re “too rightist” or we’re “Communists.” 14 years I’ve been online and you all act the same way on every political website and puke the same pablum talking points. You blockheads need some new material. Seriously.
But you have cited no sources or experience, so you are unable to explain your attacks on Lt. Gov. Dewhurst.
That explains your resort to the ad hominem fallacy instead of rationally posting how you have arrived at your conclusion, which resulted in your groundless assertions.
Thanks for posting enough now to show everyone you have nothing to back your ridiculous claims about man who has proven his conservatism through action in his life, his field of private business, and representation of his fellow citizens at the state level of government.
There will always be political opprtunists out there who will claim ownership of a new political movement, and try to seize control of it, and level false accusations and take advantage of the less-experienced newcomers to the scene.
Certain people are trying this now, but because Lt. Gov. Dewhurst has shown he is the political opposite of ex-Senator Lugar, the conservative voters of Texas who put David Dewhurst into office in the first place have had their judgement confirmed in the relatively short time Lt. Gov. Dewhurst has been in statewide office. For that reason, they will nominate him to run against a Democrat to represent the State of Texas in the United States Senate.
The voters would also like to see Ted Cruz take the right lessons from his run, and perhaps serve in elective office in the state of Texas for a while, and actually write some legislation and take some votes on legislation others have written, in order to for us to be able to confirm that Cruz is as conservative as David Dewhurst has already proven he is.
And, have a good weekend!
Zero. That’s the credibility you have on this website. It is also the same amount of respect you deserve. Your lectures on ad hominems also ring just as ludicrously false. When you stop pimping for establishment liberals like DewCrist and attacking Conservatives as “Democrats” (your ridiculous RINO/liberal talking points nonsense), maybe you’ll start to acquire some credibility. Until such time, you shall remain as you are, a troll and a laughing stock.
Sorry if you are offended that someone actually challenged the name-calling you substitute for reasoned argument and facts, regarding your attacks on Texas Lt. Governor Dewhurst.
When you have no facts to cite in your false accusations against a man, then those attacks against him will be doubted.
Likewise, when you have no reasons to back the candidate you are backing in a primary race, except somebody else told you to back him, that is the very definition of being a follower.
What I don’t understand is why you seem to take being informed that Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst is also a good conservative so personal. That is good news!
By the way, you have created undoubtedly the best about page on the forum!
