Mitt Romney's opposition to gay marriage unites base
Politico ^ | 5/10/12 | By EMILY SCHULTHEIS

Social conservatives who doubted Mitt Romney now have a reason to rally around him after President Obama’s embrace of gay marriage.

Despite the fact that very conservative and religious voters didn’t support Romney in the primary, their fierce opposition to the issue will give the presumptive GOP nominee a way to harness conservative enthusiasm in November.

----snip----

“President Obama just ‘evolved’ himself into a one-term president,” said Brian Brown, the president of the National Organization for Marriage. “This is a disaster for the Democratic Party: the reality is that the exact states he needs to win are the states that have overwhelmingly passed legislation defining marriage as between a man and a woman.”

I wouldn't say it unites the base, it just makes it a bit easier to hold your nose.

Just observing CNN with Anderson Cooper.

A full frontal attack on Mitt Romney by this man. He almost squeaked with excitement as he controlled his hissy fit. Tumbling out various quotes by Romney and following with his own questioning. Romney an easy target as he cannot answer Cooper back. What some people may not realise is the very attitude of this kind of man.

Throw in the more slick and smooth Piers Morgan and the essence of it is that Cooper and his ilk, follow the axiom thus:

If I want your opinion, I will give it to you!

You may want to read up on that before you blindly follow the anti-Romney brigade.

That was passed by the MA supreme court, not by Romney. He fought it. They did it right before his term expired.

The general election is in 178 days.

What does attacking Romney now, accomplish?
Other than helping Obama.

Obama has the media for that. Let’s not join with the media.

The media is the problem.

If you’re sounding like the media,... time to check your GPS because you’ve ventured off course, big.

I told some of you that it wouldn’t take long for Obama to do this for Romney.,

What really bothers me now is that image of teen Romney bullying those poor homos in high school. That should be a disqualifier. We need some sensitive like Obama who takes orders from his kids.

I bet you Obama never bullied in school no matter what country that was in,but we will never know that because libs say it is none of our business.

What we have to do is vote for the best conservatives for both the House and the Senate so that whoever wins president, they will be defanged—whether it’s obammy or mittens.

“Names an openly gay man as his primary spokesman.”

FALSE: Grenell was hired to speak for Romney on national security/foreign policy issues, not as his primary spokesman. He has since resigned.

“Critizes the Boy Scouts for not allowing gay troop leaders.”

FALSE: Had a different opinion but did not criticize. In fact, he praised them. “I believe that the Boy Scouts of America does a wonderful service for this country. I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

“Claims he is against pro marriage, even though he personally implemented gay marraige in Mass as governor, doing more for gay marriage than Obama has done as president.”

He obeyed a court order, on the last possible day. Should republican pro-life governors be blamed for allowing abortion in their states as well? Which one stood up to the court and said I will not allow Roe vs Wade to control my state?

“Look at the actions, not the words.”

He then went on to push a constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage and held a rally at the courthouse when the legislature held up considering it.

“Words get etch-a-sketched. Actions tell his values.”

He banned state officials from marrying homosexuals from other states to keep MA from becoming the Las Vegas of homosexual marriage. He is faithful to his wife. He is a capitalist not a marxist like Obama.

And why didn’t Governor Romney and the MA legislature tell the judges to pound salt??????

Just because a judge says it doesn’t make it so;a whole lot of other people have to go along in order to enforce foolish judicial acts.

If people simply ignored the crazy judges this nation would be better.

It was forced on them by the N Supreme Judicial Court. They had X days to write legislation, get it passed and signed into law by order of the court in the state.

That same MA Supreme Court later admitted they had no authority to dictate that the legislative branch HAD to write this legislation or that the governor must sign it. Romney folded like a wet blanket and unilaterally brought gay & lesbian marriage to America. If Romney had any balls or principles, he should have just refused to do anything on this and should have stood strong against homo marriage. Thank you Mitt Romney!

And now Romney is claiming to be against homo/lesbian marriage, BUT he's ok with gay couples adopting kids and converting them over to homos & lesbians? Romney's got the spine & principles of a worm!

Odumb0 & the RAT bastard demoRATS & media will turn this issue (I'm afraid) into Romney's Waterloo. Incredible! And to think that Romney's not even the official GOP nominee yet! The demTurds & partisan media will cut Romney with the death of a thousand cuts DAILY! And Romney is too stupid & slow to counter-attack effectively. As much as I hate 0dumb0, this is where 0dumb0 is at his most effective, when he is counter-punching and turning defeat into victory. Romney OTOH just started his much touted campaign off with an awkward apology for being a high school bully. At least he could have counter punched and demanded to see 0dumb0's transcripts & school records. Or ask about 0dumb0's past drug use and "when was the last time you (0bama) used marijuana or cocain"? Instead Mitt is too chicken & cowardly to carry the fight to 0dumb0sh_t. I hope that Newt is still waiting in the wings. At least he could counter-attack & rebut the lies of the demoRATs & partisan media better than any other Repubs.
