Romney says he's "fine" with gay couples adopting children

(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Thursday that while he opposes same-sex marriage, he is "fine" with gay couples adopting children. The presumptive nominee also declined to criticize President Obama's reversal on the issue, saying he would "respect the right of the president to reach the conclusion he has."

In his most detailed comments to date on the issue of civil rights for gay people, Romney told Fox News television host Neil Cavuto, "I know many gay couples that are able to adopt children. That's fine. But my preference is that we ... continue to define marriage as the relationship between man and a women."

The statement seemed to put Romney in the position of condoning same-sex families with children as long as the parents do not marry.

Other folks can desperately twist themselves into pretzels trying to justify voting for this creep.

That's the problem with RINOs. The mushy middle will go as far left as they need to so they can still support them.

I think I’ll have to place my hope in the Republicans taking the senate. I’ll vote for Obama’s opposition, most likely with no enthusiasm whatsoever.

Agree. In my book, any vote for a third party candidate is a vote for Obama and part two of Amerika’s move to socialism. We can’t do that to future generations. I’m at the point where I wonder if there will even be an America for our descendants. It’s truly a scary thought.

Agreed. ...a terrible thing to do to an innocent child.

Based on what I have personally observed, it is NOT fine for homosexual couples to adopt. There is far too much dysfunction in the relationships I’ve observed for the environment to be beneficial for a child. I’d venture to say it would be better for the child to stay in the foster system than be stuck with these nutcases for parents.

"Romney either actually thinks this way, or he doesn’t feel like he knows how to defend the obvious moral position on the issue."

Both thoughts are true. Also, this is his Etch-a-sketch answer to the socialists and RINOs to make sure they know that just like Obama, his views are evolving too and at some point in the future, he'll proudly take credit for his work getting gay marriage in Massachusetts.

Agree with your entire post, but this emphatically. Not voting is also a vote for Obama. And we have so many here at FR saying that they'll do one of these two things.

I dated a girl who had a transgender mother and gay “fathers” a few times. She seemed OK at first but it didn’t take long to figure out that she was a mess.

One of my lifelong friends is gay and he’ll tell you that gays shouldn’t adopt. He told me about going to some gay picnic at the Rainbow Farm before the raid. He said that there was some serious depravity going on in full view of children (two men “bathing” together as a group of naked men surrounded them and masturbated)

Homosexual male "couples" are notorious for tolerating outside sex in their disordered relationships. Dan Savage, a homosexual activist who adopted a baby boy (hence his book "The Kid"), recommends "nonmonogamy" as an alternative to marital fidelity. He writes that he and his "husband" twice engaged in sexual "three-ways" even after adopting the boy.

Another irrelevant “issue” to this election. It’s just a pitiful distraction from Obama’s terrible record.

Let's not forget that gay adoptive "father of the year":

Frank Lombard is the associate director of Duke’s Center for Health Policy. The university administrator was recently arrested by the FBI and charged with offering up his adopted 5-year-old son for sex. I tried to contact Frank Lombard over the weekend to probe his expertise regarding the health benefits of raping small children. So far, he’s declined to comment.

University administrator Lombard is accused of logging on to a chat room online and describing himself as a “perv dad for fun.” The detective who wisely looked into the suspicious screen name says that Lombard admitted to molesting his own adopted son. All this was before allegedly inviting a stranger to travel to North Carolina from another state to statutorily rape his already-molested adopted son.

Then we legislate that a child may only have ONE father and ONE mother.

Romney will have coattails which will bring in a veto proof congress. A congress that would keep the rinos in check.

how do you KNOW nobody wants them?

and limiting one group to the “rejects” is legally bizare and unsustainable under the law. It is the cammel in the tent.

It is the argument used by the florida bar when their MANDATORY BAR endorsed homosexuals accessing children.

"For me, it’s the adopting children part of this gay marriage issue that is the most troubling."

Me too! Damn the marriage issue. Luckily I have family members at the ready if God forbid me and the wife are taken out. I have 3 kids, and I can't imagine 2 dudes raising my son. I can even take another race cause my wife and I are retired military and military brats are special to us. I can't, however get with our "nominee" Romney on gay adoption. We gotta stop pretending this guy ain't in the wrong party.
