No grounds....just the way it is.

They have to confer up the chain of command to determine if there might be probable cause, even consult a judge.

Follow up question is “am I being detained?”

Follow up question (if yes) is “how about my Miranda warning?”

Inconvenience can—and should—flow both ways.

Sooooooo........be sure you forward this link to your Congresscritter and Senator. Call and get their Chief of Staff’s name and e-mail...they will get it in front of the big guy.

Do you REALLY think they will look at this? They don't answer emails, phone calls, or letters. The ONLY thing that get's their attention is money! PERIOD!

Every damn one of them should be tarred and feathered.

Does anyone know if the driver has the option to refuse the search? I wonder if they start stopping cars for the purpose of a search, if the driver of that car would have that right?

Frankly, I'd pull out the cell phone and punch in 911. I'd ask for the Sheriff's office and ask them if they knew there are guys running around their county stopping people and digging through their stuff and claiming to be TSA.

That could get really interesting.

Sad isn’t it.

And yet, the majority here will say we are just to negative and to shut up.

They need papers for everything, so why not while driving on the highways? Just show your paper and get going, citizen.

It appears that they are testing this out at truck weigh stations where all commercial drivers have to stop anyway. Adding these random searches to that routine.

Not all trucks are stopped at the weigh stations now. They have weigh-in-motion sensors in the roadway now with in-cab transponders for the drivers. Electronic signs on the road that say... TRUCK MUST EXIT TO WEIGH STATION or TRUCK OK TO BYPASS.

These check points I’m seeing are at different locations separate from the weigh stations.

Wow. Last time I was in a vehicle that was checked was LITERALLY in E. Germany in 1990. We were stationed in Germany and driving through the East German corridor to Berlin. It was at the time the wall was coming down and East Germans were escaping right and left to the west.

Before our route began to Berlin, we were provided a “notebook” with the official designated stops we were instructed to take. No driving through — you had to pull off at the stops and show them your papers.

Each detainment would take AT LEAST 20 minutes. At night they’d have cars parked facing you with their brights shining in your eyes. They’d shuffle through your stuff, pace back and forth, smoke a cigarrette, shuffle them some more, and then give them back. It’s like they were just screwing with you. Of course, as we were Americans, they probably were.

I’ll never forget it. Creepiest experience ever.

Americans here don’t really know what’s coming to them.

You are correct, but remember this.

I have cops in my family. When someone starts playing those games, they make that persons life very, very, uncomfortable.

In many areas, you can be charged with “assault of an officer” for little or no cause. If you do start to play that game, do it where there is cameras and a large number of people. Don’t do it in a small room or the results will not be what you expect.

Cops are not your friends.

Typical DOT weigh station inspections do not involve cargo unless there is some sign that the cargo isn’t stable.

I get pulled over into one of these and you can damn well bet I’m telling them to bring a DOT officer over to give me Level 2 or 3 paperwork, and if they open my cargo they are giving me a level 1 or special level 4. I’m also calling company legal and company security as soon as my cargo seal gets broken.

It doesn’t help that the MADD maniacs have helped to start random drunk driving checkpoints. THAT shouuld have been stopped long ago. I frequently count how many evil drunk drivers they catch in my area. It always seems to be about 1% of drivers in a checkpoint. No right to freely travel without prob=ving one’s innocence for what, 1% of drivers?

Should have taken his picture; and then told him he is going to be reported to law enforcement as he was acting suspicious.
See what he would have done then!

Or you could have really had fun with him. Tell him; yes you have a lot of guns you could sell him. He has to meet you at a certain place and time to see them.

All we really need to do is face the fact that Islam is not a religion, but a subversive and totalitarian political system.

It all stems from GW Bush telling us that Islam is the “Religion Of Peace”.

18 USC § 2385 - ADVOCATING OVERTHROW OF GOVERNMENT

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or
Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or
Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

Folks have been doing that ever since this marxist took office.

One part of our economy that has been booming are firearms and ammo sales. Can hardly make them fast enough.

I know Mr. Marlin, Mr. Rueger, my friends Smith and Wesson, Mr. Winchester, a guy named FAL, a real Savage individual we have to keep in a closet, and even an old guy named Stevens, are all well fed and in good shape.

According to the video this is more about recruiting truckers to report suspicious activity they observe

Most people when seeing something really odd or suspicious would make a call anyway

The state promoting snitching on one another is one of the hallmarks of a police state...

It's one of the reason the reunification of East and West Germany was far more difficult than thought

East Germans had a built in distrust of being completely honest thinking it might be used against in the future...
