High earners say au revoir to France

As summer draws near, thoughts of the well-heeled Parisian turn to Le Grand Départ. The annual mass exodus from the French capital sees the city's inhabitants while away the August heat in the countryside. But this week many of the biggest earners across the Channel have been mulling a départ which could be rather more permanent. No, but if that's the worst thing you can say about a country, it doesn't sound like there is too much wrong.

Singapore is ranked 5th in the world for per capita GDP (USA it 10th), unemployment is 2%, has a budget surplus, has low taxes ...

You beat me to it. I would addd Switzerland to the group too!
Liechtenstein may not be as language friendly but the others are all familiar with and conversant in French.

Why would any rich Frenchman choose England?

I was in Tunisia on R&R in 1981. We were staying at a very nice touristy village in Sidi Bou Said. There were an awful lot of French citizens who had pulled of their own “gran depart,” and were living there quite comfortably. This may all have changed since Tunisia is where the Arab Spring started.

The French are saying “Ahhhh Reservoir”? OK, but the Riviera looks nicer. Good of those French to name an area after a Buick.
