“I think your list of timeline highlights omits some significant events.”

So when we discuss this issue we should include everything that Romney did to get a clear understanding of what actually happened. I agree 100%.

“Nope. That would be the president at the time. RvW is a federal court.”

OK, so Nixon is the father of abortion then, got it. Don’t mention the Supreme Court, don’t mention Roe vs Wade, just say Nixon is the father of abortion.

If you’re expecting me to defend Richard Nixon, then you’ve got the wrong guy. He should have led a riot over RvW, but he was too busy being a secret anti-semite and implementing wage and price controls.

Their first presidential candidate was in 1856, only 4 years before Lincoln.

Not expecting you to defend him. Just trying to make the point that not doing 100% of what others think should be done to oppose something is a little different than being the “father” of something.

I’m just so sick of Obama and his sycophants......I am just about at the ABO stage. His going ‘all gay all the time’ is the last straw.

Nixon did far less than 100%. The Billy Graham tapes revealed his anti-semitic streak (and pat buchanen’s, too, iirc)

Romney did far less than 100%. He never vetoed any of it. Ever.

He did NOT stand fast. He was not the hero defending the breach in the castle wall. He was not the man in the gap defending what is right.

But he is the only shot we have of beating Obama. I’d take Nixon over McGovern, and I’ll hold my nose and take Romney over Obama.

We are working against the GOP nominating a socialist as its candidate for president.

I have ZERO loyalty to a party. I will support whichever party is compatible with my ideology. Conversely, I will oppose any party or candidate that is incompatible with my ideology.

The republican party crosses the line if it nominates Romney the socialist as its candidate. It will become the second socialist party in this country... And for that it deserves our opposition.

However, we are not to that point yet. NOTHING is inevitable about Romney being the nominee. It doesn’t have to happen, the convention CAN be opened up if enIts plunging a knife into its own heart and it NEEDS an intervention.

If the GOP nominates a socialist, it will have made an enemy of me.

Its like beating Stalin with Lenin....

Unless your a socialist.. You lose....

The best bet is to make it known the the GOP that they WILL lose the support of a significant percentage of their base if they nominate a socialist. We NEED to make the idiots understand that they have no choice but to open up the convention if they want to stand ANY chance of beating Zero, because if they go ahead and nominate the socialist POS Romney, they are F’ing TOAST...

Thanks for your reply.

I worked against Romney and will - finally - vote for Newt this week. If somehow Newt is the nominee I will be very pleased. But I don’t think it will happen.

I support the best candidate, IMHO, during the primary contest. I accept the winner and avoid sour grapes and woulda/shoulda afterward.

No one is more dissappointed in this primary than I. We had a golden opportunity, but a weak field and a lack of unity. The party wasn’t the problem. Working against whomever is Obama’s opponent is in the general election is helping the regime stay in power. Doesn’t solve any problem and is quite dangerous to the the republic.

Not smart.

It is FAR more dangerous to the republic to allow the ONLY party that is MARGINALLY anti-socialist to nominate a socialist as its candidate for president.

I, for one, am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to see that the republican party NEVER gets a socialist elected president.

Romney, though not my preferred candidate, is not a socialist.

But let’s not argue that.

“Everything in my power” I’ve done or will do next Tuesday. After that, I support the winner.

You have some other suggestion? How is a brokered convention to be had and who will the nominee be?

Romney IS a socialist.

there is no way IM NOT gonna argue that because its the REASON I will not vote for his sorry ass.

The convention can be brokered if we can “convince” enough of the delegates to abstain from voting in the first round.

The nominee could be chosen from nearly ANYONE that you could get a majority of the delegates to vote for.

this takes SOLIDARITY..

We didn't achieve it from notRomney voters and candidates during the primary, it's even less likely from delegates of the candidates.

What's your math on the non-Romney delegates at the convention?

Just checked the counts: Romney needs just 171 of the 814 delegates remaining. A brokered convention looks quite unlikely.

I’m off to bed. Thanks very much for the discussion.

They’re present, but those like Perry, Bachman, Gingrich, and Santorum, each with their weaknesses, were destroyed by a combination of romney attacks and conservative infighting.

The liberal gop-e had their man picked from day one and never wavered in their support of him.

Virgil Goode is the last experienced, known conservative standing.

Willard last Friday: “I meant to say I support laws in the books, and if there is a law in some state which allows homo adoption then I guess I support that law because it is a law”
