BREAKING: Ron Paul to end active campaigning
CNN ^

Posted on 05/14/2012 12:02:59 PM PDT by mnehring

An announcement from Rep. Ron Paul indicates that the Republican presidential candidate will no longer actively campaign for the GOP nomination, but will continue to work to secure delegates at upcoming Republican state conventions.

"Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted," said Paul, in a statement released Monday afternoon. "Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have."

Someone should inform the Paulitarians. Although, they may continue to campaign irregardless. Maybe beyond 2012?

I decided to browse one of their forums and there are a lot of calls that this is really proof he is winning the delegate strategy and they should all donate to him now. LOL, suckers.

Remember the media's blather about who "won" Iowa, Romney or Santorum? Well that was the popular vote. Iowa has 28 delegate votes. You know that this whole primary thing is about delegates - right?

Good. Because none less than the Romney team recently admitted that they expect Ron Paul will get 20 out of Iowa's 28 delegate votes.

And that's happening all over the country.

Suckers.

Unless Romney reaches the 1100 threshold and/or if Paul doesn’t reach the majority votes (not delegates) in at least five states, then all his games won’t matter.

Suckers

the Romney team recently admitted that they expect Ron Paul will get 20 out of Iowa's 28 delegate votes.

And that's happening all over the country.

'"Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future," adds Paul, in his statement.

'[...] Last Wednesday Paul told CNN that he doesn't foresee lending his support to Romney any time soon, and that he's staying in the race to impact the party's agenda. He added that to reconcile his differences with Romney would, at this point, be "pretty hard."

'"It certainly isn't for the reason of disrupting the convention," said Paul, of his push for delegates at state party conventions. "I'm in it for very precise reasons: to maximize our efforts to get as many delegates as we can. I'm still a candidate, and to promote something that is very, very important, that is a change in the direction for the Republican Party."'

Romney would buy the presidency if he could.

That statement implies that Republican primary voters are stupid, uninformed and gullible enough to believe the ads. obama is going to come at the Republican nominee with a lot more money and a lot more vicious attacks than Romney had. Heat - Kitchen, and all that.

“The fantasy is over folks, all the candidates are gone accept Willard.”

Actually, all of the candidates were gone the very minute that Newt was taken out.

But hey, I have a winning plan for RINO Romney.

-Quietly take him to a small island where there isn’t ANY possible way for him to communicate with the outside world.

-Lock him in a bunker under heavy guard, so that he can’t even stick a note in a bottle and toss it into the ocean.

-To be humane and to help keep him comfortable, play a recording for him 24/7... the only words he should hear are, “Have you heard the good news”. If he complains that he needs even more mental stimulation, provide him lists of the names of dead people and allow him to baptize them while he waits for the “good news”.

-Provide him with an Etch-a-Sketch so that he can keep track of his thoughts,,, he should only need one.

-Just keep him hidden and gagged until Obama beats himself.

-Romney can’t beat Obama, only Obama can do that now.

See, there is reason for all the Romney supporters to be hopeful.

I am voting for Elmer Fudd... he suports the Second Amendment and he even owns his very own shotgun.

So Paul did Not drop out, he has just stopped campaigning like Gingrich and Santorum - isn’t that correct? I guess that means donations can still flood in.

Correct; however, Paul's campaign is not in debt like Newt and Santorum, which is why they have to keep their campaigns technically active, so that they can still fundraise in hopes of paying down that campaign debt (probably also hoping that Romney will help them out).

As for Paul's campaign and the strategy to still seek delegates, it's futile, because Romney has too big of a lead, and most of the delegates from here on out will be allocated winner-take-all and bound to vote for Romney on the first ballot.

There was little chance of Paul actually being able to collect enough delegates to keep Romney from winning on the first ballot, but now that chance is virtually zero.
