WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former President George W. Bush on Tuesday praised the Arab spring movement and said the U.S. shouldn't fear the spread of freedom, even if it doesn't know what policies newly liberated countries will pursue.
"America does not get to choose if a freedom revolution should begin or end in the Middle East or elsewhere," Bush said. "It only gets to choose what side it is on."

Thanks for reminding you how stupid I was to have trusted you, Mr. Bush.
>> the U.S. shouldn’t fear the spread of freedom
Yeah. Like they have freedom now.
Good grief.
Did he really say this, or is this just the stupid MSM saying he said it?
We are all free to choose. Choose wisely.
Must be drinking again...
ugh. he was doing so well at remaining on the sidelines.
“Former President George W. Bush on Tuesday praised the Arab spring movement and said the U.S. shouldn’t fear the spread of freedom, even if it doesn’t know what policies newly liberated countries will pursue.”
So it’s okay to treat women as property and burn Christian churches? Somebody should give Bush a pretzel.
Islam is not freedom.
Stick to going to Rangers’ games, George.
Typical Arab, Moslem Lovin Bush!

“BAAAAA!”
(“Arab Spring...manly, yes, but I like it too.”)
Thank God this buffoon only had 8 years.
Bush probably said this. I saw him speak a few months ago, and his response to the Arab Spring was similar. He celebrated it.
funny talk since specifically, the current Regime fears freedom in the US, and in general, the entire government fears freedom in the US. So much so that they are willing to surrender sovereignty to the blue helmeted UN which should really have red helmets.
Somebody should photoshop the blue helmets into red with one of the commie symbols combined with the UN logo and of course, the bullet holes in it.
“So its okay to treat women as property and burn Christian churches? Somebody should give Bush a pretzel.”
Let me get this right. You’re wishing death by choking on the former President of the United States with that scummy, liberal “give Bush a pretzel” mantra because of a disagreement? He effectively said that we need to wait for these “revolutions” to play out? Do I agree with that. Nope. Do I wish death on him for his opinion ... HELL NO!
You are a DISGRACE to that uniform boy ... don’t you ever forget that you scumbag. Publicly wishing death on a current or former President is disgraceful at best.
Our current president supported violent revolt in Egypt and Libya and did NOT support the efforts in Iran to depose the Islamists.
Were the people of Poland any freer under the Soviets than they were under the NAZIs?
There is a difference between which movement is calling for revolt and regime change. Sometimes there needs to be opposition to several movements.
Meanwhile the middle east’s royal families still have their wealth and power and the socialists wring their collective hands that the West doesn’t give the poor over there enough money in the name of redistribution.
Terrorism isn’t caused by poverty. Arafat and Bin Laden were billionaires.
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supported war criminals who tortured, humiliated, and murdered a POW named Momar Gaddaffi. The Sec. of Hate chortled “we GOT him!!!”. War crimes charges are tossed around a lot. But they still have merit and war criminals are in the White House.
face palm.
Freedom is spreading where again???
Did I sleep through a briefing?
He loves the Islamo-Nazi Muzzie Brotherhood!
I always knew W wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, not as dumb as the media portrayed him but still. I doubt he personally has noticed all of these “Arab Spring” coutries are now turning to Moslem fundamentalism since that would require reading a paper or magazine or watching something other than American Idol. Someone is putting words in his mouth and he dutifully repeats them.
Mr Bush, you can afford to wax poetic about this nonsense. After how many hundreds of years, has that culture really changed? Did you ever study or observe the rest of the world up close? They are not us, and we aren’t ourselves anymore, as a nation.

I bet the Coptic Christians in Egypt and the Nestorian Christians in Syria are really happy with their new-found “freedom.”
Geez. No wonder we lost the peace in Trashcanistan and Iraq.
So any doubts, or opposition views are based on “fear of freedom”?
That sounds like the childish attempt at judo language that we occasionally see in weak posts.
Good that this dullard GWB speaks up with his treasonous thoughts! I for one would love to put him, BJC and Obama on trial! I’ve come to hate GWB as much as I did his father and Grandfather. This should remind all to never vote for another of the treasonous Bush family again!
“Freedom is spreading where again???
Did I sleep through a briefing?”
Well, speaking of freedom and briefings, the elastic in my old boxer shorts finally gave way.
Or snorting. The man was, is and always will be a disgrace. Sad it took so long for so many on FR to realize that.
” - - - Bush said. “It only gets to choose what side it is on.”
YOU chose TARP and WE opposed you on it.
TARP wrecked our Federal finances, and gave Obama the blueprint for your damned brand of Socialism, or as you put it: “Deficits don’t matter.”
We had NO choice, but we will trust no President again, ever.
You chose to spend our money in a Paulson-designed, Socialist Debt Pit, so now you own that 4 TRILLION Dollar Debt.
History will not be favorable to your legacy.
BTW, whose “side” were you on, anyway?
