Edward Klein's new book on Barack Obama, The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, is a withering portrayal of a radical adrift, in over his head, drowning in his own incompetency -- while being weighed down by a small circle of "advisers" who are compounding the problem of the Amateur in the White House.
Klein's book begins with a talisman-like quote uttered by Barack Obama when his recently appointed Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner tried to boost Obama's ego by telling him, "Your legacy is going to be preventing the second Great Depression." To which Barack Obama responded, "That's not enough for me."
As all of America knows by now, Obama has aggressively sought to "fundamentally transform" America -- one of the few promises he has kept from the days of 2008. Five trillion dollars of borrowing, ObamaCare passed over the objections of the majority of Americans through legislative legerdemain and special deals made with resistant politicians, failed stimulus, green programs failing left and right as taxpayers are left holding the bag, a recovery that is the most anemic on record, an America that has been sundered by the man who promises to unite us, America weaker abroad and at home -- yes, America has been fundamentally transformed. Mission Accomplished.

Just about everyone on this forum will find nothing in the book a revelation. To the contrary, we've known all along that Obama was a charlatan and over his head from his first days in office.
Obama was a by-product of heavy media endorsements, America's guilt over our slavery beginnings, and of course a terrible candidate opposing him. Only now are we starting to see the fringe craziness of the man in his support for gay marriage. This is just the start, expect more to follow.
The great unifier will go down as the great divider, and what gripes me is that we still hear among republicans that we need to "compromise" with this man, and his minions in Congress.
This book confirms that this man is the most dangerous person ever elected to the highest office in this country, and that we must elect as many conservatives in November to assure that the next generation experiences what is best about our country.
I sense from the daily postings of FR, that many of us truly feel, that this country is one click away from disaster, in the form of a major change in our society. Obama and most of the liberals in Congress, want us to be like Europe. They want more of our earned income to redistribute, instead of unleashing the power of our free capitalistic society.
I'm not a Romney follower, but for now he's our last great hope. At least, for once, if he's elected we'll have someone with some business sense in the WH. What we fear, is the desire for "compromise" in the man as he deals with the liberals. We fear his SCOTUS choices and that he'll cave on the immigration issues, but I digress.
I highly recommend this book, at least as a sample read, to see finally a journalist with some credentials, (Editor at Newsweek, NY Times etc.) who has the courage to reveal what we've all known to be true.
One last comment. I rarely listen to Glenn Beck anymore. If you turn his radio show on ten different times, eight times he will be in the middle of a commercial to buy gold, emergency food, (BTW what ever happened to bottled water and canned goods?) or some other contraption, but today I turned him on and he was mentioning the book, The Amateur. The man no longer speaks for me.
You would think that Beck, himself, would find many things listed in the book to be true, but no. Beck promptly points out that, "in his opinion," Klein is a controversial author who has written biographies on the Kennedys and Hillary Clinton that were largely fabrications. Therefore, The Amateur is NOT a scholarly read. I guess we'll see.
In summary, read this book and judge for yourself. In my opinion, the book contains the story about Obama that WE ALL KNEW TO BE TRUE. I can't help but think that this might be the start of a slew of "tell all" books that will characterize Obama for what he is--the absolute worst president in the history of this fine nation.
How about, Obama has set back the cause of African-American presidents for another 20 years.
I don’t buy the “incompetence” angle.
Obummer is a creature of his advisors (handlers?) and does or says whatever they tell him to. Notice how rarely he speaks without prepared remarks, or fields actual questions.
Maybe I’m a conspiracy theorist at heart, but I think his whole shtick is scripted. And he has a big shtick, lemme tell ya!
“I dont buy the incompetence angle.”
It endears him to the stupid leftist freaks, like the Prolymics gambit. No one on his side really cared if he lost, just that he went out and TRIED!
It may be a great movie, but the trailer doesn’t do it justice. I hope they make a more compelling story line trailer.
I agree with you. Anybody could have beat the guy in 2008 with any debating skills, and with a firm foundation vested in conservatism.
I think ANYONE will beat him now. But that’s not good enough.
I want to see a total retake of the Senate also, and most important, A PRESIDENT WHO WILL NOT COMPROMISE ON CORE ISSUES.
I think Romney can be a good if not great president if he runs the country like he has run companies in the private sector. If he goes in with this “let’s all get along” BS then we’ve traded one loser for another.
I’m still pretty much upset at the treatment Newt got, but I’ll blame much of that on Newt himself and the idiot Santorum who basically proved nothing.
Newt has ideas and solutions. I’d like to see him in some capacity in this administration.
There is hope if Romney has a Congress that will hold his feet to the fire.....but Boehner sure isn’t a guy that’s capable of that.
