Fox News Analyst: First American To Shoot Down A Domestic Spy Drone 'Will Become A Folk Hero'
Business Insider ^ | 5/15/2012 | Michael Brendan Dougherty

Posted on 05/15/2012 1:38:34 PM PDT by JohnKinAK

Charles Krauthammer, the conservative columnist spoke about the use of drones for domestic spying last night.

He blasted the idea:

"A drone is a high-tech version of an old army. It ought to be used in Somalia to hunt bad guys but not in America. Yes you can say we have satellites, we have Google Street, we have everything else, but that is no reason to accept a society where you are always watched by the government.

"I would predict the first guy who uses a second amendment weapon to bring a drone down who is hovering over his house will become a folk hero."

cally you are building a chilled roof that would be near freezing.

Yeah; look WAY different than your neighbors roofs in IR.

That'll lessen the curiousity of the fuzz!

“He said they have the ability to see through walls.”

Yes, they can. It uses mutliple frequencies, actually lots of frequencies, that act like a radar. One frequency will make it through drywall and bounce off metal objects while another frequency can make it through drywall and bounce off wood. Another frequency can make it through brick and do the same. Etc, etc, etc. So, lots of frequencies all getting through various materials and bouncing off various materials makes for a rather impressive image when assembling all those frequencies together.

We have had satellites with that capability for a number of years now and the technology has made it into nearly handheld sized devices. Ground vehicles and airborne platforms are already in the US and operating.

“They might as well launch missiles around ready to kill anyone with the push of a button.”

Those drones already have missiles and they can kill with the push of a button.

“Or foul the frequency with noise “

Not possible. Look up ‘frequency hopping”. Their communications can hop frequencies every pulse and the frequency range is extremely wide. The signal is also in the grass already so don’t even hope to overpower it, it doesn’t operate on that level of power. The system also detects jamming signals and keeps its frequency hopping out of that range. A VERY powerful transmitter capable of extremely wideband transmissions can jam that type of signal but only ship and ground based systems have ever been successful at it. They can pulse in excess of 100 megawatts over 100 MHz at a time for a duration of over 10ms. Even then the jamming isn’t always successful. No space or airborne platform has yet to accomplish such a feat. Airborne platforms have jammed only in very short ranges such as 3-5 miles, past that and the pwoer simply falls off too quickly.

“They are probably very close or already able to see in 3D through walls. “

Done. Single system using simple delay logic. What bounces off of clothing doesn’t bounce 100% of the signal back so when it penetrates a human body it strikes the other side of the clothing and comes back again, much weaker but detectable. Only metal objects require multidimensional scanning for high resolutions but even then using scatter and collect technologies a 3D image is still possible with a single scanner, just not at higher resolutions.

“The question is “who” is flying them. I doubt some deputy sheriffs have the training.”

Civilian contractors under supervision of the Air Force typically. The FAA monitors the operation for civil aviation authority regulatory compliance but they ar enot directing the operation in any way.

Here is Youtube footage of a supposed drone near Chicago. A lot of the comments pan the footage as fake. I don't know it might be a hoax but with the Nato summit coming up I guess its possible.

A person could in its simplest form just have a sprinkler system on the roof to chill it or better yet for the serious shielding get one of those tractor trailer reefer units, lay a grid of PEX tubing on your roof, lay another layer of OSB, tarpaper roofing paper or whatever your roof is.

Do that, and you better have something covert and nefarious going on to afford the fuel and maintenance you'll spend not to mention in Cal. it'll have to be CARB certified.

UNNGGH!

The funny thing is, when you water your roof to take advantage of evaporative cooling,
you’re making a REAL “greenhouse gas” - water vapor - in order to avoid using electricity, whose production involves making the faux greenhouse gas of CO2.

Wouldn’t civilian contractors UNDER supervision of the Air Force be against the constitution? If we still lived under it.

Sure. No doubt about that. The good news is I have family that fly those things and they are patriotic Americans. We talk often about such things and I am finding those companies are having problems finding people that are willing to fly them in the US.

might try a punt cannon right under the final approach threshold course it is kinda obvious & hard on the person trying to E&E from the scene .

[ He said they have the ability to see through walls.
I’m not sure that I believe it all, but it is a huge 4th amendment issue if they start flying these over people’s farms looking for “violations”. ]

IR (infra-red) cameras are cheap and lightweight and can see through walls.

They can show people having secks in their houses from the street.

[ Drones are military equipment. Isn’t it a violation of Posse Comitatus to use drones over the United States against its citizens? ]

Yeah, like that would stop them...

This is the original image used to fake the video. If he had chosen an image of an unarmed Predator then it might have been a bit more believable. His mistake was selecting one armed with Hellfire missiles

Take a look at MisterBees other videos. He thinks that three aircraft using an obvious upper air route is breaking news!
