Why Conservatives Must Join the Battle for America On Twitter
Breitbart ^ | 5-15-12 | John Nolte

Posted on 05/15/2012 9:21:00 PM PDT by STARWISE

*snip*

There are five crucial reasons for this:

1. Twitter is an equalizer in an eco-system where MSM types are no longer insulated in their bubble. We can now use Twitter to reach out to the media in order to challenge their biases, facts, lies, spin, and hypocrisy.

The media is now accountable to their customers and you can bet this has an effect. Even the corrupt media types (which is most of them) are aware that these challenges posed on Twitter are potentially being tweeted and re-tweeted to thousands of readers. That's hard to ignore.

2. More and more news narratives start on Twitter. Nothing is more dangerous to the left than everyday Americans talking amongst themselves, and today, more and more news narratives start in these conversations, not in MSM editorial meetings.

What's especially revolutionary is that this new reality means the news media can't start narratives at will like they once could. They can seed the clouds and hope to make rain, but if everyday Americans dismiss or, better yet, shoot down these offerings, chances are it's not going anywhere.

Furthermore, the only way the MSM can even attempt to filter or control Twitter memes not started by them is to cover whatever it is we're talking about. And this, my friends, is how stories are now able to jump over the fire break of Media Matters and those corrupt fact-checkers.

3. The media no longer gets the last word. As we saw with The Washington Post hit-piece on Romney last week, if the media attempts to spin or lie, we simply create a furious counter-narrative about their spin and lies that consumes as much of the narrative oxygen as the original story.

“Sorry, as an old fart, I guess I miss the significance of twitter, facebook and other such entities.”

It’s called INFORMATION.

Having access to information allows one to be informed and make informed decisions.

And to think, we used to walk 20 miles barefoot just to save Dad’s boots..

There are tons of voters who can’t read well enough for Twitter.

There is a freerepublic at Twitter, but it’s not us.
Jim, any thoughts about of having a JR-freerepublic acct on Twitter?

Milagros: you can join for yourself, and you can follow folks or specific issue twitter accts that interest you, or just lurk, or join in and post, and you re-tweet articles you like .. all in 140 characters per post.

What or who do you want to know about and I’ll see what matches?

I hate twitter. Pointless ramblings done in short code. Every five seconds new pings. It is the epitome of the Sesame Street generation.... over stimulation of the senses leads to confusion

Yes, she does!

And her new tweeting site

https://twitter.com/#!/search/twitchy

And, how Andrew Breitbart is missed .. I think he really was instrumental in this battle and in unlocking the power of the tweet and re-tweet (if you could stomach some vitriol, because he was a huge, hated target, and he welcomed it and gave it back in spades):

https://twitter.com/#!/AndrewBreitbart

How he is missed!

“There are tons of voters who can’t read well enough for Twitter.”

It’s not those people you are trying to influence, IT’S THE MEDIA, who slavishly use Twitter to compensate for intellectual laziness.

As I heard a CNN talking head say after the debates “I’ve gotten over 500 texts and tweets from Democrats in the last twenty minutes....”

This is how they coordinate attacks, and WE need to be doing the same.

“Stop whining and ORGANIZE!”

I am old school. However, I got an IPAD for Christmas and started to follow some New York Giants. Amazing , to the second info on my favorite team. Then, I started following Michelle Malkin, Breitbart, etc....

it is amazing. I was able to follow the Palin endorsed Fischer come out of nowhere to beat the GOP establishment candidate minute by minute. Twitter is must have for political junkies. Conservatives dominate and I got to watch our favorite big guns destroy Obama's creepy Julia scenario.

I am a step above a Neanderthal and I am able to do it. There is no excuse. Get an IPAD, sign up for Twitter, and start following your favorite conservatives. You will be more informed than ever.

It’s acting as a catalyst/engine for what we see/hear/read that’s the ‘news’ on the lamestreams .. where research, stories, story lines, memes, spin and lies are hatched, debated, conquered or accepted .. and then the process ends up on blogs, and finally front pages and the 6 o’clock news, but now conservatives are finally fighting as equals and play the game just as savvily as the leftist/state run media do.

I don't tweet, so I know next to nothing about the technology involved. Can you access and post to Twitter from cell phones and desk top computers, as well as IPads?

Yoooooo better be telling the truth, lady. If I go to all that trouble and it’s not a beautiful thing, I’ll...I’ll...hold my breath till I turn blue.

America will win or lose because of a campaign on Twitter? Please.

Don't be an ass. It's called grassroots activism.

If you want twitter to truly be a beautiful thing, may I recommend tweetdeck. This is my very first attempt to post a picture here on FR. I hope it works, I think it's worth it to show you. It's so easy to drop a pic on twitter, and seems so complicated here ;) My view of twitter is a 'dashboard' of current topics that you choose to see. Tweetdeck is a customizable view of twitter showing you only the topics that interest you. First sign up at twitter.com. Then create an account at tweetdeck.com and download / install their software. Both are free. Play around with it and I think you will see some beauty in twitterville. Hint: Make your first search panel "#tcot -#p2". No need to thank me. Enjoy! The preview doesn't show the picture .... we'll see.
