Skip to comments.Voting for Romney (D-Mass.): The Worst Mistake a Conservative Could Make
Posted on 05/16/2012 2:51:31 PM PDT by xzins
What I'll regret with 4 more years of Obama is a guaranteed tax increase and the installment of uber leftest Supreme Court Justices.
ANYBODY but Obama when I walk into the voting booth..
I would rather have Obama and a veto-proof Republican majority to cram Obamacare back down his throat- than an Obama-lite with willing Republican majority
If Romney wins the R’s in congress will go along with whatever he wants
If Obama wins but gets stuck with a GOP congress then they will oppose and veto everythign he does
You are nailing it on the head. Romney has yet to give us any reason to vote for him. He’s shown his hiney to the folks in Virginia of course, but beyond that he fails to deliver anything meaningful.
I will vote for Romney, with his flaws, because he is running on issues that will help America if carried out,
and Jeffie what “issues” would those be ???
Two words, "John Boehner".
I don’t believe you.
The writer diagnoses the Romney Republican disease pretty well, and then offers up a fatal dose of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual Gary Johnson as the “cure.” All I can do is shake my head in disbelief.
So you now trust the GOPe in Congress to block Obama's propensity to issue executive orders and place unelected, unaccountable czars over every possible part of our economy, bypassing all legislative action in their running things? That is a whole lot of faith you have there. I don't see the absolute worst on our side doing even near that. Plus, do you really want four more years of our soldiers having to salute Obama as their Commander in Chief?
Do you really think Republicans have a reasonable shot at that many Senate seats?
Tempting as it is, I can’t badger anyone for not voting this year. I haven’t been a registered voter since 2005.
And this is okay with you? You really can't allow these people to run rampant thru FR. It's breaking our hearts.
You make a good point. The economy tends to do better and our freedom and liberties are under less threat when neither party has complete control.
Complete delusion. By the time we get a veto-proof Congress, America will be doomed.
Sad isn’t it. I can actually see the need for a vigorous discussion regarding either Romney or a Conservative option, but to call for a vote for Obama, good grief.
I really can’t believe it.
Some conservatives cannot accept the fact that there were no well-organized, articulate, telegenic, well-funded conservatives to run against Romney from the begining.
Now, some folks are going throught the Kubler-Ross death and dying model:
Denial and isolation: “This is not happening to me.”
Anger: “How dare God do this to me.”
Bargaining: “Just let me live to see my son graduate.”
Depression: “I can’t bear to face going through this, putting my family through this.”
Acceptance: “I’m ready, I don’t want to struggle anymore.”
I am at “Acceptance”. Bring on the General Election!
I agree with you.
I do not care for Romney but I figure if I sit this election out and not for Romney that is just another vote in the plus column for “O”
I am right there with you.........ABO!
“and then offers up a fatal dose of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual Gary Johnson as the cure. All I can do is shake my head in disbelief.”
1. Not a Johnson fan, although he was a cheap son of a bitch, which I appreciated as my governor.
2. He is not exactly “pro-abortion.” He wants to reverse Roe v. Wade and return the issue to the states.* That’s a huge improvement.
* Where Johnson falls off the rails is he then opines that states should permit abortion. So, oddly enough, he’s more conservative at the federal level that the state level.
No. We just want to get rid of Obama. Whatever and whoever it takes.
I dont care for Mitt. Newt was my choice.
Mitt is the nominee. Thats just how it is.
You who are staying home or doing a write-in or voting third party are casting a vote for the Marxist/Muslim.
We MUST get Obama out of the White House. Four more years of this sob will finish destroying America.
FRiends, with all due respect, you need to give this up. I know you’re angry and hurt. We all are- but it’s done. Nothing is going to change that. We need to stop bickering among ourselves and unite. We must unite and vote against the Marxist/Muslim for the sake of our country.
I am casting a vote AGAINST Obama.
Hannity sounds like he’s lost control of his voice.
I want to see liberals, especially the fags, crying hysterically on November 8th...I want that smug look forever removed from the Kenyan...I now realize that those things alone would make it worth it. As for Romney, once he’s in the WH, we’ll cross that bridge.
Ditto.....Always had intentions on voting for Mitt and hopefully Rubio will be his VP(:
This one’s for you.
Exactly. Give us a cuddle.
These are lifetime appointments fellow FReepers. The next president will have the opportunity to nominate one, perhaps two, more justices to the USSC. If the commies get a majority, the country is finished.
Need I say more?
Best bet is for the Republicans to develop some testicular fortitude and quickly change their rules so that cheaters cannot get the nomination.
Then we can have the convention attendees do their job.
I still find it hard to believe we have people on FR who advocate giving the Republican nomination, and our votes, to a guy who is not a Conservative, who invented gay marriage, who wants to adopt out babies to homosexuals, who thinks my tax dollars should pay for abortions, and who has spent many years as an officer in an organization that has had and would like to have a theocracy imposed on an American state.
Romney is still a socialists. You nor Reagan is/was a socialists.
Because the alternative is unthinkable.
We’ve both been saying the machine loves Romney in MA and all his works. He will be their best drone ever.
yes, it was the first part that had me post this.
Interestingly, it has been declared not to be an editorial. I really can’t imagine what else it would be.
But, whatever. I imagine there are mods who are GOP-nc’ers as well as average freepers.
They do their own variety of censorship that way.
I know you are being rhetorical, but yes.
What makes you think that Romney will appoint better? His track record of putting conservatives in the courts in Mass? Or just 'hope' that he will 'change' the makeup of SCOTUS.
FRiend, with all due respect, you are operating purely out of fear.
Obama's just a man who puts on his pants one leg at a time (and probably stumbles doing even that.) :>)
I am so opposed to a second term for terminator Obama that if Arlen Spector took another ride on the Merry Go Round and decided to become a Republican for the third time and won the Republican nomination I would vote for Arlen. For that matter I would vote randomly for the 100th name in the phonebook over Obama. Although Romney was not among my top choices to win the nomination,I will be voting for him to get the cancer out of the Oval Office. This nation will not make it to 2016 intact if the terminator is reelected.
Romney will continue many of the same policies as Obama.
That said, if people are intent on voting for Romney, I say more power to them because we need all the votes we can get in the down ticket races. I don’t see Romney winning the white house but his voters combined with write in and 3rd party voters can carry the down ticket races where it really counts.
Really except for a few standouts like Reagan as far as POTUS goes it's been either Moderate or Liberals of the Ike, Ford, Nixon, Bush caliber. Sad to say that has also happened with out leadership in both houses.
People tend to forget it was SML Dr Bill Frist-RINO-TN who penned Medicare reform which has lead us down the road to Obamacare along with Liberals like Romney and even Lamar Alexander has a history of supporting such when Medicaid reform hit Tennessee. Frist simply copied a program put into place earlier by a Liberal Tennessee DEM governor and all the party loyals said how brilliant he was.
The time has come for Conservatives too refocus, regroup, and find a new political party home. It can be done and it must be done if our nation is too ever have a course correction from the destructive one it is on today guided by both parties.
Right now the only choice my conscience allows me to support for POTUS is Virgil Goode.
While Goode may have been a DEM is was a part of the Democratic Party that was far more conservative than that which the GOP Post-Reagan years have produced.
I also look at the founding and founder of The Constitution Party. Howard Phillips is the founder of the Constitution Party was a co-founder of The Moral Majority along with Paul Weyrich and Jerry Falwell. Like the Moral Majority or hate them this group of men united a good segment of clergy and churches into joining a grassroots movement to bring social conservatism issues back into our government. This crossed party lines as well.
Mitt Romney because of his hard core Liberal record on issues is as unacceptable to me as Obama is. We will never see real changes until we stop being enablers. That decision to say "NO MORE" from both parties starts with an individuals vote.
Other than from 1980-1988, it never has been a Conservative Party. The Rockefeller Republicans and Country Clubbers have been in firm control outside of that range.
Did you forget the sarcasm tag? It is because I have no idea who Romney is that I will not vote for him. Obama and Romney are both ciphers.
I would vote for a gay, Harri-Krishna, Twilight fan to get rid of Obama.
Wiki is your friend in this case. There is a plethora of information. We don’t even know your friends name for god sake.
what the hell is it with some of you people here who cannot seem to disagree WITHOUT COMING OFF LIKE AN SNARKY SARCASTIC ASS HOLE
Yes, say to me, "I affirm with all my integrity that Romney is a conservative."
He is? Yep many persons in history have said the right things at the right time to gain power. They then became what history showed them to be. You can not and you must not ignore what their record and history says they are.
He deserves our support.....
No he doesn't unless your a liberal that is. He's wrong. He is as wrong as Clinton, Obama, LBJ, Reid, Nancy, and many others. The -R doesn't magically make him right. I'd think after what has happened in the GOP since 1989 it would start soaking into peoples heads what is going on within the GOP but it doesn't.
To tell you the truth I don’t like either of them. I definitely do not want Obama to win. I can’t pull the lever for Romney but I think most freepers will, even if they aren’t happy about it.
With Obama we at least have an opposition party running the House of Representatives, but with Romney we are more likely to see “our” party leaders supporting anything Romney wants.
That is what so many conservatives are upset about, Romney does not represent our views- we all know he is only pretending and mouthing the right words. Some think we can pressure him and keep him mostly on the right side, but how do you have any pressure left after you have already proven you’ll vote for the fraud anyway?
So, yes, I guess a narrow win by flaky, fraud, flip-flopper Romney and a solid GOP controlled House and some GOP pickups in the Senate is probably what we should see in November.
