Posted on 05/16/2012 2:51:31 PM PDT by xzins
You call that opposition with Boner as Speaker?
Thanks for posting this. Hopefully the blind will have their eyes opened before it is too late.
We might as well as Joe Straus as Speaker like we do in Austin. lol. He is the punter on the Congressional football team right?
Nothing snarky or sarcastic about that. That is the stone cold facts. People complain and complain about the GOPe, yet somehow trust the Congress and Senate Republicans, who are full of and run by the GOPe, to somehow do the right thing in the next breath.
Very true indeed. The GOP started out as the Liberal party of the day. But they even forced upon Reagan his "Insider" running mate. I don't think Poppy was even on his top ten choices of whom he would have liked too have picked.
My limit is Barack Hussein 0bama, Amateur Occupier_WH. So I am truly ABO. Including Milt Romney, who is quite obviously to the right of the marxist community organizer. Big Time.
Am I happy about that? No, but it is what it is. And I'm forced to be pragmatic.
I think everyone would agree that we are in a war. To me the debate is only over strategy. Strategery. I vote incremental gain which means Willard for now. I won't attack a conservative who chooses not to vote in this 'no win scenario' (and they shouldn't attack me for my pragmatic vote) but I sure as h*ll would disagree with a conservative who suggests voting for 0. There may not be a USA after another 4 years of him.
You are welcome. The GOP is a lost cause. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the GOP-e.
BUMP. BIG TIME.
Pure Truth, So_Real! Awesome reply.
They can't handle the truth.
Yes, there is lots of information. None of it reassures me that the man has any core beliefs. I can’t imagine Romney being able formulate a concise but substantive statement regarding his philosophy of government. I’m sure Bachman, Paul, Gingrich and Cain could do that easily.
I did. It blew.
I’m at the “I personally don’t care who wins the election”. Although Romney will win. My efforts lie with getting a senate and congress elected that will give fits to whoever becomes president.
And your 'truth' is Virgil Goode?! Virgil Goode, no offense to the man, is the definition of a lost cause. Damn. Even Michael Moore approves of that message.
No. It’s not blew; it’s read.
It’s read meat for conservatives who realize the GOP can’t be changed.
With the exception of Reagan, in my lifetime I’ve watched:
nixon: wage and price controls
ford: liberal rockefeller repub
Reagan: True Conservative
GHW Bush: liberal rockefeller repub
Dole: niceguy rockefeller repub
GW Bush: blue-blood credentials from a rockefeller dad
McCain: war pow rockefeller repub
Romney: blue-blood credentials, himself a social corporatist 3rd wayer. Not a conservative bone in his body.
Goode is a conservative.
Can you solemnly affirm that Romney is a solid conservative?
H*ll no. Wouldn't ever even try.
Can you solemnly affirm that Goode will send the Kenyan packing in November?
I loathe the GOP establishment, have no use for Romney, but piece is poorly written.
Some RomneyBots want some proof their darlin boy would actually say something so Barry...."
Yep...it was a FR article. The actual wording, I see, was, "if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship". Dear Jesus, save us and come soon.....
Trying again with the link....
The author focuses solely on policy, legislation, and money. There is so much more to consider.
- The author forgets the damage a President Obama can do to the Supreme Court if he hs the opportunity to nominate more justices.
- He forgets the damage Obama can do to relationships with our allies by leaving them to twist in the wind.
- He forgets the damage Obama can do by emboldening our enemies who DO NOT fear him and will not restrain themselves.
- He forgets the destruction that Obama and his Executive agencies can do to our constitutional rights.
Our individual freedoms probably will not survive another four years of Obama.
Of course not. Our purpose is building a conservative party, a new home for conservatives.
The GOP is not a home for conservatives. It will not change. It’s very rules make change impossible.
Romney is not a conservative. He will govern just as he did in Massachusetts: big government, liberal judges appointments, romneycare, abortion, gay adoption, gay boy scout leaders, etc.
I do know we’ll be one step closer to a viable conservative party if you join with us.
Just dont vote for Romney (D-Mass.), the hood ornament of the Republican spending machine. You will regret it.
However, Romney is not a conservative....now matter how much the GOP-"no choicers" like to wish (pray/hope/deceive selves into believing/etc.) Just thought you'd like to see what the entire section says.
The section, by the way, is obvious sarcasm & hyperbole, one of those conventions in writing that sometimes happen in pieces such as this.
One problem with the argument. You I believe are supporting Virgil Goode.
Virgil Goode was a republican for almost a decade. And he didn’t leave out of a principled stand against the party, he “left” because he lost an election, and didn’t think he could win another election. In fact, he filed paperwork to run as a republican again, but then dropped out of the 2010 race.
It is only in 2012, when he again had no chance to win a republican nomination, that Virgil decided to move on.
Virgil is a party-hopper. When it was advantageoous, he was a solid democrat, supporting the Equal Rights Amendment. In practice, he was a horrible democrat, being much more conservative than the typical democrat, so other than voting the party line on leadership, committees, and such, he didn’t really belong in the democrat party.
He then did the “independent” thing. After that looked like a loser for him, he jumped again to the republican party, where he spoke of loyalty to the organization, and fit right in.
When that wasn’t working for him he jumped ship again, and now he’s, what, the constitution party candidate? No doubt after he loses this year, he’ll find some other party to join.
The point isn’t that Virgil is fickle. It’s that he was part of the “corrupt”, “bankrupt” GOP that this author denounces, and Virgil never indicated a problem with that GOP until he failed to beat a democrat for election, and then knew he couldn’t get a primary nomination again.
So, we are supposed to think the GOP is a bankrupt organization pushing failure on us, but vote for a guy who pledged his fealty to that very GOP, and in fact served during the very time we say they lost their way and started spending us into oblivion, simply because he lost an election and had to change flags to get a new ride?
Good post (#174). It boggles my mind that ALL conservatives wouldn’t vote for ANYBODY to replace this commie bastid we now have in the WH.
Hi Buckeye. Those policy issues are all, of course, real concerns.
I’m not among those who is so fear driven that I think the country will cease to exist. Obama is just a man, he puts on his pants one leg at a time, he needs a teleprompter, and he can’t speak a clear sentence when he’s away from one.
He’s really not all that.
My take is that it’s much more important to build a new home party for conservatives. That is best begun now. The GOP has left us, if it ever was with us.
Please join us. We need you. The GOP-e doesn’t even want you.
It sure is.
Reality is facing the world in the face right now and many people are learning the wrong lessons from it.
The fact is you cannot tax or spend your way into prosperity, only economic freedom can bring it.
You know me better than that. I would never recommend anyone vote for Obama.
I would never vote for, support or endorse a person for president whose only government record is that of an abortionist, homosexualist, gun-grabbing, global warming hoax pushing, liberal judge appointing, crony capitalist, mandate loving, big government statist!!
Regardless of party affiliation.
And I sincerely doubt that the good U.S. Army Chaplain and Patriot, Xzins would either.
We are the resistance!!
For God and Country!!
Thank you and God bless.
I have a few questions for those who are voting for romney. We all know (and if you don't many of us here can send you proof) that romney, the gop, fox, ann coulter, drudge,.......pushed romney. They helped him cheat, steal, buy votes and endorsements....
Why vote at all? Unless you're a pro-abortion, pro-gay,....person your vote doesn't matter. Your nominee has been chosen for you like it or not. Many people helped pull this off, but they did. Now they EXPECT us to vote as they say. So, why would you vote for a person who cheated you out of a fair vote? Why vote for someone who has lied and is a known liberal? Common sense or wisdom, tell us that a person who says they are against gay marriage, abortion,...then says the opposite later is not to be trusted.
How is lying, cheating, stealing....being pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage/adoption....different than obama? Why should we trust he will be different than obama?
Why in the world are we acting like a battered wife who keeps coming back to the man beating her? Are we suppose to act like the gop, romney,....did nothing wrong and support him?
I am a Christian and praying for a miracle. If we keep moving left with the gop nominees, we will be today's democrats, obeying and following like sheep. At least they get paid for following (welfare....) we get what???
Virgil Goode has not changed his principles at any point in his career. The old conservative democrats died off, and when he voted to impeach Clinton they were livid. He went to the Republicans, and when he spoke out against oaths of office taken on a Koran, against LEGAL immigration for Job reasons, and refused to support the bailouts, they took their support away from him.
So, your understanding of the story is different than mine. Allow me to offer this evidence though: he actually did vote to impeach Clinton; he really is on a video opposing oaths of office with Korans; and he was just one of 65 to oppose the bailouts that BOTH Obama and McCAIN endorsed. AND ROMNEY.
So, who is the conservative? Obama, Romney, or Goode?
Which one do you think?
The Gipper was right. Our nation does not need 2 Democratic parties.
Absolutely outstanding example, LF. Would love to see you write an article with that idea.
Comparing the lying piece of socialist trash to President Reagan is beyond the pale.
Your boy isn't fit to polish Reagan's shoes.
I would never vote for Obama and never encourage anyone to do so, except tongue in cheek, of course. However, if folks were to check the record they’d see many overwrought people telling me that I’m actually supporting Obama and voting for Obama.
That’s because I refuse to support Romney, but instead support the only conservative in the race, Virgil Goode.
So far as this author is concerned, he’s libertarian and a Gary Johnson fan, but the first section of this article about the monolithic GOP is excellent. The GOP is impossible to change because of the rules they have written to cover themselves. (See the Virginia primary for an example.)
I agree with that part of the article about the GOP. That’s why I think a new home for conservatives is the right answer. Beyond that, I simply can’t understand any ABO’s tipping their hand to Romney, crawling to him on their knees saying, “we’ll support you no matter what.” I’m sure that will make him take their issues seriously. Heck no. They just admitted he has them over a barrel.
I’d like you to consider the CP, Jim. Like your Free Republic, it is a pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-small government place. I’m sure they have their dingbats and disrupters who play fast and loose with their principles....they just don’t run them as their presidential candidate.
Obama is so weak, he should lose in a landslide. If your boy is incapable of sealing the deal against him, it won't be anyone's fault but his own and the GOP elites for selecting a bigger loser than the sophomoric fool currently occupying the White House.
I got the main points from the newspaper...
Romney: Gay couples should have right to adopt
In an interview with Neil Cavuto of Fox Business Network, Romney was asked whether he believes the gay marriage debate is a new civil rights movement, as some Democrats have framed the issue.
I dont see it in that light, Romney responded. I believe my record as a person who has supported civil rights is strong and powerful. At the same time, I believe that marriage has been defined the same way for literally thousands of years by virtually every civilization in history and that marriage is by its definition a relationship between a man and woman.
He added that if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, even want to adopt a child in my state, individuals of the same sex are able to adopt children. In my view, thats something which people have the right to do, but to call that marriage is, in my view, a departure from the real meaning of the word.
Romney has made similar statements in the past. In 2006, as governor of Massachusetts, Romney told the Boston Globe that same-sex couples have a legitimate interest in being able to receive adoptive services. In 1994, he told the Boston Herald, I would leave it [gay adoption] up to the states. I would not oppose it or require it.

You wrote: We are outnumbered by voters and political supporters who want some sort of goodie from the govt (law, reg, funds, etc) - and that includes voters of all political persuasions including dems & repubs. That will not change until we (well, a majority of us) start raising our children to be more self-sufficient from and independant of govt. Perhaps our great-grandchildren will start to turn the tide.
Those are all excellent ideas, and I support them. Thanks.
Let me suggest something to you:
If you don't really want Romney, don't tip your hand about supporting him. Otherwise, they know they have you where they want you and they will slide to the left. If you're going to support him, keep it to yourself, be recalcitrant, and insist on conservatism from him. Don't reveal your support until about 30 days out...October. Don't enable them to take you for granted.
Finally, I'd really rather have you help us build a new conservative party, a home for people like us. We want you and need you. They don't....they don't care one whit about you.
