Witness Told Cops He Saw Trayvon Martin Straddling George Zimmerman And Punching Him "MMA Style"

A witness told Florida cops that he saw Trayvon Martin straddling George Zimmerman and pummeling the neighborhood watch captain “MMA style” shortly before the unarmed teen was felled by a gunshot to the chest.

The witness’s account was included in Sanford Police Department reports released today.

Interviewed by cops about 90 minutes after the shooting, the witness--whose name was redacted from police documents--said that he was inside his home when he heard a “commotion coming from the walk way” behind his residence.

The man recalled seeing “a black male, wearing a dark colored ‘hoodie’ on top of a white or Hispanic male who was yelling for help.” The black male, he added, “was mounted on the white or Hispanic male and throwing punches ‘MMA (mixed martial arts) style.'”

The witness--who was in his living room and about 30 feet away from the confrontation-- said he called out to the two men that he was dialing 911. “He then heard a ‘pop,’” police reported, and saw the black male “laid out on the grass.”

Your knuckles wouldn’t be injured from hammer punches.

Did you seriously think that I was attempting to make an assertion that Trayvon Martin was fully trained in MMA? A renowned expert in this fighting art?

Did you seriously think that I was attempting to make an assertion that having a gun in a pocket is a magic shield whereby no man on earth can do harm to the possessor of the gun?

I assure you I was not saying these things. I merely meant to imply that people who bring guns to fistfights are making a wise choice. But -- I hasten to add -- this is probably not necessarily true in precisely 100% of all cases. Just true in a lot of cases.

I saw Herschel about 7-8 years ago at a client’s offices. He was doing some promotional work for them.

The guy looked fit as could be then, too. This in GA, so all the gals were just swooning over him.

“Ground and pound,” I think they call it...basically, use wrestling moves to get the opponent on the ground on his back with your weight on top of him (or jump on him if you knock him off balance/he falls) and start raining punches down on his head. If done right, he can’t throw you off because of leverage and because he’s too busy dodging, or taking, blows to the head.

What’s "MMA Style"?

When a fighter has his opponent in a vulnerable situation and starts hammer fisting him:

I want to know:

“Where was Trayvon’s body relative to Zimmermans vehicle?”

Fedor was a beast. He only lost one fight from 2000-2009.

Ok, here is a question.

If Trayvon was sitting on George's chest, pounding on him, how did George get to his gun?

If he was carrying it IWB (inside the waistband), it seems to me it would be very difficult for him to reach the gun (reference the MMA pictures).

Just asking....

I would suggest not using the MMA pics as exact models of what Trayvon did. He wasn’t an expert.

Second, the witness quote never uses the words “sitting on Zimmerman’s chest”.

Does say “on top of him” and “astride him”.

This was at night and this witness wasn’t in immediate proximity, so all he could see is what he could see, at night and from his vantage point.

I would say Zimmerman had an advantage in one respect about the gun...he KNEW he was armed and where it was, whereas Trayvon didn’t know either one when he jumped him.

My money is on Z being able to find a way to get that gun, and I don’t believe for a second that this will be a problem for the defense to explain.

Just sayin’, though, the defense is not required to prove Zimmerman innocent...the prosecution is required to prove him guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Looks like the punk Trayvon should have minded his own business and got the hell out of the area when he knew he didn't belong. Instead he attacked Zimmerman and “POP” and the attack was over.

Just Asking? Maybe while Trayvon's hands were busy beating Zimmerman's head he forgot Zimmermans hands and the possibility that the gun was where they normally are, in his waistband.

All Trayvon needed to do was either call 911 and report he was being followed, or hightail it to the apartment which was very close by, or both.

It’s true when people say this didn’t need to happen.

But it’s Trayvon’s actions that brought it down.

He attacked an armed man who was left with no choice but to shoot him.

Zimmerman hesitated...we know that because he was yelling for help, then when no one actually came and helped him out...the witness called 911 but didn’t get physically involved...he did what he had to.

Don’t know why the mediots act like this is something new. There is a news clip from 2/27 IIRC linked to the local Orlando newspaper where the reporter

1.) talks to this witness, John, who won’t give is last name or show his face

2.) talks to Tracy Martin and Brandi as well. Brandi said Trayvon was sitting on the porch.

There is an interesting point about Trayvon Martin’s assault on George Zimmerman that has been overlooked. A witness stated that he saw Martin hitting Zimmerman with Mixed Martial Arts style punches. This statement is important because Mixed Martial Arts style punches involve hitting with the heel of the palm or the side of the hand, rather than the knuckles of the fist.

Such striking techniques would explain the lack of extensive bruising of Trayvon’s fists, although there was some bruising on his fists. But more to the point, it is much easier to slam someone’s head against the sidewalk using an alternate repeated pushing and striking motion of right and left hands while striking with the heel of the palms against Zimmerman’s face. This would look like a rapid, alternate pushing motion of the right and left arms as they strike Zimmerman and slam his face into the concrete. This action would be much faster, easier and more powerful than striking with the fists. No wonder Zimmerman feared for his life.

Now the question is where did an innocent, poor, little dear darling boy like Trayvon learn to street fight like that?

Two very good points: Trayvon could have 1. Gone home, 2. Called 911, or 3. Politely asked Mr. Zimmerman if he needed to see some ID.

Assaulting a complete stranger was not a recommended course of action. Guess he'll know the next time.

This data dump (on a friday dominated by facebook) only proves:

1. the prosecution has no case and they knew it from day one.

2. There is more than one REASONABLE doubt. (hence zimmerman walks)

3. There is a preponderance of the evidence and this is where the judge will be measured.
