Why Kenyan Birth Claim Was No 'Fact Checking Error'
American Thinker ^ | MAY 18, 2012 | Jack Cashill

Posted on 05/18/2012 11:33:25 PM PDT by RobinMasters

No sooner did the literary agency brochure in which Barack Obama was said to be Kenyan-born surface than the media went to work to deep-six it.

"This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me - an agency assistant at the time," Miriam Goderich, now a named partner in the literary agency, Dystel & Goderich, wrote in an emailed statement to Yahoo News, which was then picked up ABC News. "There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."

This confession rings false to the point of preposterous for any number of reasons. Let us start with the obvious. At the time, 1991, the Acton & Dystel agency listed 90 clients, Obama among its least significant. How likely is it that Goderich would have remembered enough about a 1991 "error" to know it was hers, especially since it went uncorrected through several revisions until changed in 2007? To make this claim credible, there would have to be an existing paper trail leading to an Obama submission in which he lists an Hawaiian birth. I am confident that there is no such submission.

BTW, if you give it some thought, Rush is the Beethoven of talk radio....think about it.

The stand with Rush part was added when he came under fire for calling a slut a slut.

He was right and I'll stand up for someone when I believe he is right.

Is there a problem with that?

I guess I needed to add one more thought.

Calling someone a birthers worked because of the nature of the information that birther staked their claims on.

The publicity brochure is a game-changer.

It supports the claim that the birthers were right to be concerned by the blockage of common information, even if they weren't positive about what the information contained. Without knowing what was being hidden, but only claiming that something damning was being hidden, it allowed the credibilty of the conspiracy theorist charge, which is what "birther" is shorthand for.

But with the brochure out there for 16 years, the birther label no longer encompasses what it once did. It's like shouting "birther" instead of speaking it. People may still try to use it, but it can be beaten back now.

If he was calling himself African-American and also born in Kenya, then by implication it meant he was claiming he had been naturalized in the USA. Of course we know of no such naturalization event.

Even if the hypothesis that Barack was Hawaiian born is accepted, and the looser modern reading of natural born citizen is also accepted, then we have to paint Barack Obama as having been a big fat fraud. This brochure was way too open. Why why why, John McCain didn’t you call Barack Obama out for being a fraud? It would have had zilch to do with his skin color and there are plenty of frauds of all colors.

I doubt there was any government conspiracy involved in Breitbart’s mysterious death as if by poison, but it’s something an Alinskite private faction could well have engineered. At any rate, they did not succeed in hushing up the Breitbart company itself and it’s still going gang busters.

I agree and your entire post is an excellent one.

To tell you the truth though, I've been participating in these threads since 2008, explored all of the angles, learned so much from some exceptional researchers here, and I still could not give you a definitive definition of the term "birther"

To me it is nothing but an ALinsky type attack on anyone who would dare question the history of the chosen "won"

The Bolsheviks and other communist revolutionaries had have no qualms at murder, why this one would be exempt?

Breitbart talked to Sheriff Joe the next he died. Was talking about the eligibility stuff. Had recently said he had bombshell videoS and specified that at least one was 0mugabe talking with Ayers about revolution.

Where are those videos? Now the Breitbart org says they don’t have anything like that.

IMO they did hush up Breitbart. On some things.

I guess if Breitbart had squirreled away videos that wasn’t too smart. He ought to have at least told his agency about a safe deposit box or something where copies could be found should the worst happen. Wasn’t he also found to have bad cardiovascular trouble, meaning he wasn’t exactly in the peak of good health.

Sigh.

There is no evidence other than some friends’ after the fact statements that he had heart trouble. No doc visits for a year or more, no meds, his Father in law had no idea of any heart trouble, etc.

Second, it’s obvious that if Breitbart had the videos he said he had, and now his org says they don’t have them, it’s not because Breitbart had them hidden so well no one knew about them.

Didn’t you read any of the contemporaneous threads? If not, you should, it was all laid out in detail.

Even if he was in the good health of a Mr. Universe, even barring a murder plot he could have walked in front of a beer truck the next day. So would have been wise to plan likewise. Anyhow the issue having being yacked over from end to end I now leave it alone. Too bad nobody else got copies. It would have greatly helped.

Also, his mother didn't meet legal requirements at that time, to grant citizenship to Barack Hussein Obama II of the United States, being born out.

True, it could have been an implication that his parents were able to confer American status upon a Kenyan child. If Barack was not ineligible he was a big fat liar... how long do you think it would take for the questions to get back to him “Oh Barack! I never knew you were born in Kenya! In what village?”

If any Republican were found to have that big a lie in his/her past, do you think he/she would last even through the primaries?

I guess depending on OS and browser you could get outsmarted by the software. Maybe there is a browser setting to stop that.

I get irritated by the new Google, how in its default haste to pop a page of results in front of me as I type before I’m even done it steals keystrokes from appearing in the search form. But FR has no such javascript.

That is an interesting comparison. In the early days of radio broadcasting technology, some Christian ministries balked at the idea of using “airwaves” because the air of planet earth is, as the bible reports, infested with demons. Technically speaking strictly, air isn’t needed for anything more than the survival of people manning the systems — it would work equally well in the deep vacuum of outer space. I don’t think we have anything but a humanly made pun here. It still so happens that American news is biased towards wickedness.

Speaking of which, a guy came by the church where I serve as a musician about a decade ago, and claimed that its CARPET was full of demons! Our pastor bade the fellow a polite but sincere goodbye. I haven’t met any demons in the church carpet yet, although it’s getting kind of ripped up from being shampooed and vacuumed and stuff being pushed over it.

Hitlary is an opportunistic skank, but I doubt that she is a Marxist.

What do you call someone who wrote their college thesis on Saul Alinsky?

What do you call the author of the original socialized health care plan?

What do you call someone who openly calls herself a Progressive?

Hillary Clinton is a Marxist (video 0:43)

hillary: 'I'll take your money.' (video 3:10 "You will be automatically enrolled..." {in health care})

Hillary Clinton on Oil Profits (video 0:36 "I want to take those profits...")

Dick Morris Compares Hillary's UN Tactics to Communist Regime (video 1:10)

Hillary: We'll take your money for 'common good' "Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Clinton said, according to the Associated Press. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Hillary Clinton's dedication to Marxist-communist ideology makes 0bama seem like a kid with a Karl Marx comic book collection.

Sorry to say it, but this won't have legs.Nothing will be done about it. There is no collective will in the congress to do it .Barry will be on the ballot in all 50 states and, if re-elected, now unfettered by having to face an election, will have four more years to dismantle the United States. Of course, this is only my opinion.
I share your opinion completely. Obama could publicly admit that he was born in Kenya and the media, the Democrats, the Republicans, the National Review, Ann Coulter, Mark Steyn and just about everyone else would say something like "look, he was born in Hawaii, so can we please talk about something else".

Nothing is going to come of this. Nothing.

Questions about his birth. Questions about his schooling. Questions about his radical associations. Questions about his Islamic "Christian" church. None of those questions (and many, many more) will ever be asked or answered.

Period. End of story.

I love Lewis’s book and it really isn’t a “danger, high voltage” work. It’s a perfectly logical (and funny) script about how tempting devils might approach humanity, being bent on evil and being quite obtuse to goodness. Hell is, is a sense, a very ridiculous place. I know nothing about the other books. People should be very careful if attempting to address the angelic/demonic world directly, but there’s nothing wrong with wisdom in dealing with that world’s side effects.

That's because Mark is always shown looking at the camera and his colour is deliberately lightened, there's only ONE honest image of him out there:

The "Conservative Movement," such as it is, is not helped in my opinion, by the fact that many of its most ardent public spokesmen are former rock'n'roll DJs. Rush is a broadcasting phenomenon, probably the best that ever was. However, Ron, I believe his real job is to sell Sleep Number Beds and Gold Bars to folks who ALREADY espouse the views about which he speaks.

Of course, we tend to stand with those who explain to us what we already believe. Where I have a problem, besides Natural Born Citizen issue, and RL's total shutdown of Sheriff Joes inquiry into the validity of the BC, The SS, and the Selective Service issues, is that Right Wing Talk Radio seems to be powerless to make the Conservative Argument to undecided voters. Indeed, it doesn't even seem capable of getting out the "Conservative" vote in urging people to vote for the more conservative of the two parties' candidates.

The phenomenal popularity of "Right Wing Talk Radio," again in in my opinion, is because it is documenting the rise of such grass roots movements as The Tea Party, not leading them.

To return to the legitimacy of BHO, Jr., for me it would be enough if RL merely validated the existence of the issue, rather than completely ignore it.

Are these generalized, implied threats or are they threats specific to do bodily harm to those personalities or their families? Is Breitbart more than a coincidental event coinsiding with Breitbart saying we were going to vett obama? I knew the Clintons had people killed and kept them in line like that. I never understood the loyalty Clinton commanded until I read of the detective in Little Rock and then, of course, Vince Foster. But I have not heard of this type of activity by the obama minions.

For Rush to say that it was “conventional wisdom” that Obama was born in Hawaii ...

"Conventional wisdom" is a phrase that means "popular opinion" isn't it? So it is true that conventional wisdom is that 0bama was born in Hawaii. Further, Rush has always used the phrase "conventional wisdom" as a substitute for saying 'this is what the MSM and the left think' but he uses that cover phrase as a way to sarcastically deride them. That's how his use of it has always come across to me.

...and then spin some convoluted reason for the “born in Kenya” literary bio, was very strange to say the least.

His spin of that was convoluted wasn't it? And very obviously convoluted at that. But that wasn't really his spin it is what the left is saying. It sounds even more ridiculous when Rush says it and now the left has to agree with Rush Limbaugh's "stupidity" in order to say it some more.
