Posted on 05/19/2012 7:15:24 AM PDT by EternalVigilance
MIAMI, FLORIDA Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney scheduled a $50,000-a-plate fundraiser at the home of Phil Frost, the executive of the company that makes the Morning After Pill, on Wednesday night. Plan B One-Step is produced by Teva Pharmaceuticals, Frosts company.
Other than the supreme right, the right to live, which other God-given, unalienable rights do you think the states should be able to alienate if they choose?
The right to keep and bear arms?
Freedom of the press?
The right to petition government for the redress of grievances?
Trial by jury?
Freedom of political association?
He was happy to cash porn checks at Marriott too
BTW, nice name you've got there. MY "G" stands for Galloway.
I know about the pill. I was referring to the morning after variety
Hysteria is not pretty. No one mentioned bowing to anyone.
Choosing to be shot in the foot vs being shot in the head is a simple choice for me.
In typical contradictory style —cursing me and name calling while whining about somoene addressing your lack of ecucation— you reveal you are not what you claim to be. You’re not the first liar at FR and won’t be the last. Have Nice Day, hypocrite.
And also the pushers of the global warming scam.
Frankly, it's time for the GOP-e to consider such a move TO THE DEMOCRATS.
If they couldn't re-elect Bush, nor elect Bob Dole, nor McCain (in recent times), and probably can't elect Romney, what, exactly, are they doing in the Republican party? Obviously they have a much better chance affiliated with the Democrats!
Depending on how many Senators, Representatives, and others we can elect as Conservatives maybe we can give them that push they so richly deserve!
I'll be happy with just getting Roe v. Wade overturned and returning it to the states. That would be the biggest accomplishment we've had in the last 40 years. Then we can take it from there.
Here's a clue for you ~ scientific knowledge has been revealed to us.
It's more like the difference between a bullet to the head and a bullet to the heart.
We might as well ask why are you working to get little barry bastard commie re-elected?
Your disinterest in higher morality is certainly taking you that way.
You act as if unconstitutional court opinions give the officers of the other branches a legitimate excuse to fail to do their own primary duty.
You’re displaying the symptoms of a full-blown case of judicial supremacism.
Which is anti-republican, and entirely unconstitutional.
Not an uncommon ailment in today’s Republican Party.
You could ask that, but it would be a very silly question. I don't work to elect pro-choice democrats, unlike yourself apparently.
Stupid ping thing ~ this is an open board ~ you don’t want pinged don’t come here.
I ask again: Other than the supreme right, the right to live, which other God-given, unalienable rights of the people do you think states can alienate if they want?
>> this article is kind of silly <<
No matter. Don’t spoil our fun. Any excuse to bash Romney is a good excuse!
Or is it possible you are one of those 'created 6,000 years ago" guys. Hmmm ~ makes me wonder.
>> Check your own medications <<
A little “double entendre” there, no?
"It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing.
Romney is an ascendant guy."
Sen. John Kerry (D) to Don Imus on RomneyCARE:
"I like this health care bill".
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) on RomneyCARE:
"To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable."
First Mormon I ever knew had become a postal inspector ~ forced him out of that shell.
Great guy. When he retired we gave him a tremendous party.
Not a single Mormon but him was there ~ even though we had others at work.
Do you know why they reverted?
Roe v. Wade demonstrates only that a Supreme Court is capable of producing evil. We knew that long before 1973. The fact remains, as spelled out in our Declaration of Independence, that the right to life is granted by God and not by government.
If a President Romney were to pack the Supreme Court with Mormons and that Supreme Court were to rule that the states must permit or even require polygamy, would you then feel that we would need an explicit constitutional amendment to restore morality?
Trust God, not the Supreme Court.
There is zero chance of that happening with Obama. There is some chance of that happening with a President Romney and a Republican Senate. That's the best I can see right now.
look, both these guys are the same ~ they’ll have someone else shoot you in the head and the foot simultaneously.
You still have not said how you suggest we change the current situation and get laws against abortion. I’d like to hear your proposal.
That is the scariest picture I’ve seen in a while!
There will be a lot of prior republican voters staying home this time due to Romney's persona and vicious campaign.
No way is Obama gonna give up his power.
...and this one.....
Johnson's war on poverty in 64 paved the way for strategic thinking.
R v W was difinitely one of their more brilliant ones.
Collective bargaining of state and federal employees and teachers was another. Especially when they can get 51% of the workforce to work for govt.
meanwhile, we worry about the degree of conservatism our candidate professes and displays prior to considering the vote.
< s > After all, it would be better to have the dem win, because we know where they are coming from. < / S >
My proposal is to vote only for candidates who respect the best and most important founding principles of our nation, as specified in the Declaration of Independence, and to vote only for candidates who profess and truly believe that the gift of life is a gift of God and not just a temporary dispensation from the government.
My proposal is to withhold my vote from any candidate who refuses to aggressively campaign to outlaw ALL abortions.
I ask again - this is the moron we’re supposed to rally around because he’s such a stark choice versus Obama?
Romney has said he wants to nominate justices like Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito and that he wants to see Roe v. Wade overturned, which would enable the states once again to have laws against abortion. That is the exact opposite of Obama’s position. Do you have a better idea that will actually go anywhere and do anything? That will get us any laws against abortion nationally or in any of the states? I’d really like to hear it.
I forgot to tell trebb in my last post to him that Tom Hoefling (known here as Eternal Vigilance) has my vote this year for POTUS as long as he wants it. He is the morally safe choice for POTUS and has never, in my recollection, been wrong on FR. I have argued with him before figuring out that he is right on the third party thing. I should have voted Hoefling in 2008 but I foolishly voted for McLame instead. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
Hoefling for POTUS!
If Romney is truly opposed to abortions, then maybe he could begin campaigning to outlaw all abortions.
Do you see him campaigning to outlaw all abortions?
Doesn’t Romneycare provide government funding for abortions?
Do you think we should go by what Romney might now say or by what Romney has said and done in the past?
Hi, Charles. If he has said this, can we really believe him? He is all over the map on all the issues, and I fear that he says what any given group he’s addressing wants to hear. I am not addressing this to be derisive but to truly understand the mindset of a man that seems to have no moral compass but only can seem to say and do what is expedient at any given moment.
I am praying for this country. It seems to be my only option now.
That could be. I don't trust Romney. He may very well be a political chameleon. But that still could work out OK, especially with a Congress much more conservative than the Massachusetts legislature.
Also, now that he's got the nomination wrapped up and he's running against Obama, if deep down he were a liberal (assuming there is a "deep down" there), then why is he still campaigning on a conservative platform?
I'm with you on that one. For someone who claims to be a Christian, its posting style and general demeanor towards others is suspect, at best.
What are you smoking?
In the world of law, circumstantial evidence is enough to convict. Therefore, in the case of Romney, I believe his deeds rather than his words, and reluctantly answer "no".
There are those who have chosen to surrender to the Romney wing of the Republican Party in the belief that they will be better able to fight another day. This is their choice; I cannot dissuade them. Some of them reflect their candidate in resorting to the personal in their criticisms as 'battered spouse' conservatives who believe that, if they just wish hard enough, the national party will come to its senses and stop beating them.
There are those of us who have quite simply had enough abuse by their national party. It's an unfortunate thing to say, but I believe that this election cycle has placed Libertarians (the Paul wing) closer to controlling the Republican Party than conservatives.
The moderate elites, who still maintain their control against all comers, are laughing their heads off. And giving us Romney.
RomneyCare, as originally enacted by Romney and the Massachusetts legislature, had Planned Barrenhood (oh but they also do pap smears and other stuff) statutorily on the Romneycare board of directors, provided for $50 maximum fees for abortion on demand, regardless of homicidal excuse. That was enacted a full year after serial pathological liar Romney CLAIMS to have become "pro-life." His successor Coupe Deval has cut the fee by $50 to, ummm, ZERO.
I am a diabetic too. Thanks for the info. My primary care physician is a member of the Catholic Medical Association locally. When they say Catholic, they REALLY mean it. I will bet that there will be a lot less glimepride being sold here in NW Illinois. Other Catholics should spread the boycott elsewhere. Teva delenda est.
Obozo is certainly pro-abortion. So is Myth Romney. Note that when Myth calls himself "pro-life" his lips move. We all know what that means.
Each and every Romneycare Massachusetts babykilling is now cheaper than the 1 day's single 81mg aspirin that I and many take each day. Boy, you can REALLY trust Myth with the babies. Maybe he'll choose Kate Michelman of NARAL as his running mate. She is a militant Michigan pro-abort just like Myth.
Then we can discuss Myth's enthusiasm for other abominations as well.
Tom Hoefling (Eternal Vigilance) for POTUS! He'll not abide the slaughter of a single baby.
I agree. I mean, do we really want people on the bench that believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God when history clearly shows him to be a con man and a philanderer.
80% of fertilized eggs/embryos fail to implant naturally (without the mother ever knowing) What exactly is the point of God killing so many persons that way?
In your dreams. I have college aged kids and they and their friends recognize that a human being is a human being from the moment of conception.
The tide IS turning, especially with the scientific evidence to support it.
FR is a pro-God, pro-life site, you know......
Your attempts at charging God with murder fail and only reveal the poverty of your own soul.
I see him campaigning to overturn Roe v. Wade, which would enable the states to outlaw abortions in their state. That is the only realistic option I see in the foreseeable future, and it is the right next step to take. And it would be more--far more--than anything else we're been able to accomplish in the last 40 years.
Again, if you've got a better idea to get any laws against abortion anywhere, I'd like to hear it.
I think the answer to your question goes back to the quote in italics. :) He can’t help himself...he panders to one and all of his listeners. I don’t think there IS any “deep down” to this man.
He reminds me of a mannequin....all hair and smile and no life of his own. Just takes on the aura of what is put on him, as it were.
Frankly, he creeps me out.
obama scares the hell out of me.
Has He told YOU?
Why is *at the moment of conception* not acceptable?
The only reason that I've ever run across for someone to question when life begins and argue that it's not at the moment of conception, is for the purpose or either abortion or embryonic research.
After all, if it's not a person, it's not murder to destroy it.
But how can a living organism with the full complement of human DNA, which is growing though cell division, not be considered a living human being?
It's growing, therefore it's alive.
It's genetic make up is human as a result of the union of a human sperm and human egg, therefore it's human.
Destroying that life is murder, by definition.
And that's enough to get me to vote for Romney. ;^) I'll take some chance over no chance.
