David Axelrod privately calls Barack Obama “Black Jesus,” according to Edward Klein’s fantastic new book, The Amateur (p. 59).

“[Barack Obama] is the living, breathing apotheosis of the American melting pot,” Klein quotes Axelrod as saying.

Axelrod, as we know, isn’t alone. According to Klein, Micah Tillman, lecturer in philosophy at the Catholic University of America, called Obama “the Platonic philosopher king we’ve been looking for the past 2,400 years.” And no less an authority than Oprah has called him “The One.”

BUT - everything I had ever learned lead me to believe that Jesus went out of his way to NOT let us know what he LOOKED like - because he wanted us to concentrate on his MESSAGE.

Yup. In appearance he was so unremarkable that he had to be betrayed by a close associate.

Which isn’t just a modern warning (in Jesus’ day, there were dozens claiming to be the Christ, during an era of Jewish thought that was more open to the idea of someone with such a role than it is now). To see it today startles because it’s so rare — everyone and his uncle knows who Jesus Christ is supposed to be and when he lived on earth and so if you say you’re Christ they think you’re looney.

While still withholding final judgment on Obama's being the AC, one can't say he isn't trying to meet all the tests. And in the end, he certainly exalts himself above God.
