New York mayoral frontrunner marries partner in lesbian wedding
(UK) Daily Mail ^ | May 19, 2012

New York City council speaker Christine Quinn has married her longtime partner Kim Catullo on Saturday in a private ceremony on a sunny, warm spring evening.

The city council's first openly gay speaker and Catullo were walked down the aisle by their fathers. Quinn wore a gown made by designer Carolina Herrera. Catullo, a lawyer, wore a cream silk suit designed by Ralph Lauren.

The theme of the wedding was 'Spring in New York,' and was inspired by the High Line city park, around the corner from the venue in Manhattan's Chelsea neighbourhood.

Among the guests in attendance were Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as well as Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer.

It was a private end to a public battle over the right for same-sex marriage. Quinn, along with many others, lobbied for the law that New York passed last summer.

"From the picture of the couple, we know WHO WEARS THE PANTS."

That's what I don't understand about lesbianism. There is always the one who pretends to be the "man" and the other is the girl.

If you want a man....then be with a man!

Houston has had an openly gay mayor for several years. Her name is Aniece Parker. Talk show host Michael Berry always calls her Anice Porker. That cracks me up!

No, they don't have a marriage, at least not here in North Carolina, as well as in the majority of other states.

These gals and friends can pretend all they wish, but their play-acting does not constitute marriage.

I'll be so glad when mature, capable adults are running this country again. Developmentally-challenged people playing dress-up just won't cut it for me.

That's what I don't understand about lesbianism. There is always the one who pretends to be the "man" and the other is the girl.

I've noticed that, too. Without going into details, I was staying in a hotel room with a couple of other women, who were watching a show about lesbians on HBO. I tried to ignore it... but still saw enough to realize exactly how far lesbians go to pretend that one is a man.

That experience convinced me that lesbianism is not based so much on a genuine woman-woman attraction, but on a deep rooted fear of men. They do want relationships with men, but are so afraid of them that they try to substitute other women playing the part of men for actual men. I think something similar may be occurring with gay men.

This city council person is a front runner in the next mayor election in New York.

I’m sure it will make homosexual history when they can claim that the mayor of America’s largest city is gay, and legally married as well.

"I think something similar may be occurring with gay men."

You are right. They do the same thing.

I've read that many strippers, men and women, who strip for the opposite sex are gay.

It's like living in the "Darkside". Not sure if you are familiar w/ that series, but the intro to the series is "opposite". Black is white, white is black, everything is upside down.

Houston’s gay mayor may already be married. I remember something about it when some state New Hampshire ? maybe, allowed gay couples to marry. But of course coming from NY it will make bigger news.

We live in a sick society and parental love is being used against us to lend credence to their sickness.

That experience convinced me that lesbianism is not based so much on a genuine woman-woman attraction, but on a deep rooted fear of men.

There are many lesbians who make an effort to work in jobs where they will not have to interact closely with men, for that reason. There are other women who are bisexual and are fine around men.

It makes me hopeful that Police Comissioner Ray Kelly might run.
She isn't a lock to win, at this point, there are a few potential Democrat challengers, some stronger than others.
OTOH, I believe she'll have Bloomberg's backing in exchange for her support of his (and her own) third term in office. She would have been the frontrunner for mayor four years ago as well.

Clearly both are woman so the 'picture' they are attempting to protray is a fraud in every sense of the word.

When I see nonesense as this I cannot help but laugh...they are indeed "playing make believe"....and I choose reality.

Marriage has and always will be between a man and woman....what this is is fraud....it's not even a counterfeit!

There's that, too. Many women are very status-conscious, and would rather be without a man than "settle" for a man that their friends would laugh at them over. Going lesbian side-steps the issue.

Becoming part of an alpha-male's harem is another way to side-step the issue. Have your friends impressed by this charming guy who's going out with you. Just don't tell them that the guy is only going out with you when his primary girl is unavailable or he's dumped her for being too much of a drama queen.
