Conservative Independent..I’ll just do Conservative but if it works for you, go for it.

I want to preface my comment with the fact that I am anti Romney all the way..but I think his coming out against Jeremiah Wright bashing may have been campaign/GOP-E strategy in that they want him to stay above the fray ..and will leave the attacks to the PACs. We’ll see!

My cleaning gal is here with her 19 year old daughter. I asked her if she is registered to vote.
“Yes”.
Me “Are you going to vote for Scott Walker on June 5?”
Her: “When is the debate??”
@#%*?

I guess she means between Barrett and Walker. I don’t even know if there is one coming up..and who cares?

Me: “Scott Walker is a great Governor, is balancing the budget here in WI, standing up to the unions, not raising taxes and he needs your vote”.

Her: shrug.

Her mother: “Oh, she’ll vote for Walker. Don’t worry!”

Me: :-)

“Why do you imply this will be a close race? Have you had a look at the RCP electoral map lately?”

RCP is meaningless Bullsquat. A polling average that gives wildly biased push-polls equal weight with legitimate polls.

Many FReepers have used the phrase “special sauce” regarding Rasmussen and his polls; they're onto something

Special sauce is always used with Zogby polls, not Rasmussen

“Or just whine. Do or whine. The choice is yours.”

The 5% usually are usually the whiners, because regardless of who wins they don’t get their way.

Not me, I'm happy. I have a Strict Constitutionalist like Goode to vote FOR.

Feels good to have a Goode option.

I admit I like Goode, even know his part of the country. My parents lived in Martinsville until my father’s death. I personally think we have bigger fish to fry this election than to put in a protest vote. We definitely need to send more like Goode to Congress and change the tone in Washington. We also have to realize what is Constitutional and what is left up to the States and the people. We too often become the left of the right in our methods. It won’t work if you want to change peoples minds and hearts.

As someone else mentioned on this thread... If he goes down the road of saying Obama is a good guy (he's not, he's the most arrogant POtuS I've ever seen) but misguided... he's playing the McCain game, of trying to be a nice guy

Won't work, and we'll be destroyed down the ticket. He NEEDS to hit back... HARD

We were presented the slate of candidates that we have had because that is the way that the gop/e wanted it and they worked very hard at manipulating the primary system in varying ways to accomplish their goals. Do I think that a true Conservative that is not part of the gop/e machine... beltway mentality would be polling better... by honest pollsters... yes I do. romney may very well lose to obama... and I blame prebeius and company for every single reason that this is the worst election of our lifetime.

No Conservative would ever vote for obama... but some of us cannot vote for mitt. We will vote down ballot and I have sent money to those deposing the gop/e elites... and I am sending money to Conservative candidates... but you and the gop/e can finance and drag mitt across the finish line... if romney fails... blame the leadership of the gop... for they alone have manufactured our predicament.

I personally think we have bigger fish to fry this election than to put in a protest vote.

We get the same argument every four years. That argument is no longer good enough. If not now, when?

This is it. This is the line in the sand. I will no longer vote against candidates when in fact I have a candidate, like Goode, whom I can vote FOR. Besides, if you're voting for mitt, isn't that in itself nothing more than a protest vote against the fraud? Why not instead vote FOR the candidate who advances those things we are FOR.

We also have to realize what is Constitutional and what is left up to the States and the people.

Forming a political party for Constitutionalists is is a power left to the states and the people ourselves. It is a daunting enterprise, but not an insurmountable one. I tried going along with the GOPe way repeatedly to no avail.

When you try to build a Conservative structure on quicksand repeatedly and see the foundation pulled from underneath, you soon realize that it is better to move to firmer ground and start over. Right now, unless the Tea Party is ready to establish ourselves as a political party, the Constitution Party is the only firm ground around in this swamp.

Well I agree with everything you say but fact remains that we did not have a conservative that could beat Obama in the race this go-around. Sarah Palin would have crushed Romney in the primaries regardless of the gop/e machine and would have gone on to easily beat Obama but for reasons only known to her, she didn't get into the ring.

Of the conservatives that did get into the race, well, we saw what happened. Michelle Bachmann tanked. Cain self-destructed. Santorum failed to inspire and Gingrich, well, let's put it this way, Gingrich did not have the support of conservatives, period. Take Wyoming, probably the most conservative state in the nation, Gingrich got less than 1% of the vote in their caucus. In the Deep South, where Gingrich was supposed to be strongest, with the exception of SC and GA, he fared very poorly. Conservatives just didn't support him.

Ras was on Hannity the day before Brown's election, along with zogby.

Ras stated firmly that nothing had changed in the past week and they were holding with the numbers that stated that coakley would win... check the archives... he officially offered no poll that week... but he vocally made the statement above. Having said that... these numbers may be dead on.

“Right now, unless the Tea Party is ready to establish ourselves as a political party”

I thought that TEA stood for taxed enough already. A group that had one goal smaller government. That leaves a lot of areas for disagreement over social issues. I personally will drink the tea and leave the social to the States. Even the TEA party movement is already being perverted to individual motives. Just my opinion as I’m a Strict Constructionist.

Agreed! That's what attracted me to joining the protests initially. I would be more than happy if we could all agree to concentrate on just accomplishing that one thing - smaller government. We can haggle over the rest, but yes, let's take on the 800lb gorilla in the room first.

"Many FReepers have used the phrase “special sauce” regarding Rasmussen and his polls"

That's quite an ironic use of the phrase, given that "special sauce" arose from Zogby's botched call for Not-President Kerry's 300+EV victory in 2004 -- the election that Rasmussen nailed.

I didn't like any of them but I would have voted for any of them... but paul and romney. It is not that I can't hold my nose and vote. I have done that all of my life... except for Reagan. I cannot vote for an abortion loving, gay marriage supporting, big government spending, high taxes... and a gun grabbing world class liar like mitt... that is just the way that it is. I do not like it... I do not want this to be the outcome... but as you say... mitt is mitt and this election is what it is. I predict a romney defeat and WE Conservatives will once again get the blame... not the gop/e who have not only destroyed the republican brand... they have had a heavy hand themselves in the destruction of America.

Obama is in serious trouble. He cannot get above 42-47% even though he’s the incumbant; and Romney has just finished a difficult and rather destructive primary campaign; and Romney has not really begun to fight yet.

Wait until the s@#$ hits the fan with the HHS mandate getting wide attention in late June and early July, and old folks get wind of the fact that their medicare benefits will be rationed in order to fund contraceptives for college women (since their boyfriends do not want to pay or them). Funding promiscuity for college and post college women by cutting benefits for the older generation will not go well with the electorate.

Also - since when is it considered to be a benefit for women to turn them into prostitutes? Actually, they might at least get a job with an income if they would charge a fee for services. Maybe that is Obama’s actual goal after all. It would reduce the unemployment stats.

Rasmussen has slipped into “Hey look at me!” mode. When he does the races tighten so you keep on watching, but given the week Oabama had and the damage he did to himself with his big announcement “Hey look at me” seems to be the explanation here. Rasmussen talks to hundreds of thousands of people he knows who will say what so if he wants to put Romney down 15 points he can. Putting Obama up even 5 must have been a heavy lift. Rasmussen pulled this stunt last weekend. Her had Romney + 6 then + 7 then + 4. In a three day rolling average to get the number to drop 3 points after jumping one point he had to have gone from a + 11 for Romney to a + 2 for Romney - this was the weekend immediately after Obama’s announcement. As I said Rasmussen is in his “Hey look at me!” mode. Obama falling off the table is bad for business. Rasmussen uses only Likely voters- how many Democrats whose enthusiasm is 8 points less than Republicans did he have to call, and where did that “surge of enthusiasm” among Democrats come from?

You err about O-Romney ...

and Romney has just finished a difficult and rather destructive primary campaign; and Romney has not really begun to fight yet

Romney is perfectly comfortable trying to DESTROY Conservatives ... Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum ...

However ... the Planet-Kolob Impostor-Conservative ...

is "still" hard-wired (an engineering term) into thinking that Obama is a "really nice Black Man" who's simply in over his head ...

O-Romney doesn't have the intelligence, "genuine" Conservative Mindset ... or "fire in the belly" to want to WIN against Obama ...

Mitt Romney is simply a younger version of Juan McCain ... pure and simple ... with a more expensive hair color blend ...

I'm really glad that Newt and Sarah will win the Tampa 2012 GOP nomination ...

because Romney will screw-up so badly between now and August 27 ...

even that EIB "moron" Mark Steyn will wake-up and smell the coffee ...
