Rawles: It Would Be Impossible To Disarm The People Of This Country
May 21st, 2012
How likely is it that we will actually experience a disaster that brings down our national power grid?
Will the government seize all guns in the United States?
If Continuity of Government response plans are initiated, will they be able to effectively lock down every major city and the country as a whole under a martial law scenario?
Is an economic collapse in our near future?
These and a host of other critical topics are covered in the latest interview from SGT Report with Survival Blog editor James Rawles.
Rawles on Gun Confiscation:
I think it would be impossible to disarm the people of this country. Along with Yemen were the most heavily armed society on the planet. It would be absolutely impossible to disarm the citizenry.
There might be an attempt to do it incremently over the course of generations. I think thats the only way that would happen.
There are so many guns being produced each year a couple of million guns each year its just mathematically impossible, if not socially impossible, to even envision the logisitics of trying to disarm the American citizenry. It just cant happen. Theres too many guns in circulation and theyre essentially the final guarantor of our freedom.
The next phase of the financial collapse:
I think that given the financial situation globally if you look at whats happening in Italy, Spain, Greece and the most recent election in France were very likely to see a lot of financial turmoil in the coming months.
A lot of it will spill over into American markets. I think there is likely to be another global credit crisis like in 2008, and it could get very, very ugly very quickly.
I think its prudent for people to prepare. I think that if you look at it in terms of the clock face approach, were probably just minutes from midnight in terms of where we should be in terms of our preparedness.
Rawles on the probability of a grid-down worst-case scenario collapse:
In all of my writings Ive stressed that the North American power grids and therere three of them are the real lynch pin of our modern technological society.
If the grids go down, all bets are off.
Its important that people plan for the worst case. The worst case would, of course, be grid down. The chances of that happening are fairly small, but if youre prepared for the worst case you can take anything lesser in stride.
In terms of the power grid, if they knock that leg out from underneath society they can create a cascade of events that will be completely beyond their control.
Martial law is not going to restore order if the power grid goes down and does not come back up within a few days.
On martial law:
I think the whole rhetoric about martial law tends to be overblown, because the logistics of implementing martial law would be daunting. Even in the United States, where we have a fairly sophisticated military, the numbers just dont add up for martial law being instituted for more than just a very short period of time.
We have a military thats primarily deployed overseas right now. The military here in the United States, active and reserve components, dont even have enough vehicles for training much less live operations. The majority of the rolling stock for the US military right now is in places like Bosnia and Afghanistan.
How do you institute martial law if you cant even get troops from point A to point B?
Obsessing on martial is probably not productive, but we do need to be on guard to guard our liberty, and we do need to speak up when there are abuses of our Constitutional Rights, especially the first amendment.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, these Ruskis are straight out of “Red Dawn”.... Sharky better be scared :0) The Denver airport is rumored to have underground tunnels that go all the way to Michigan.............
Sorry, it doesn’t matter if it was one agency or not. Or, if they all agreed on it. It happened, and many of those who had their guns taken, still don’t have them back.
We're safe, we has boat to bring us (and that hot Lith with her
big guns) to Canada..........
Darn tunnels!!! And goody about the boat, that is my Plan C (if I can make it through the hordes of zombie apocalypse-types in/near Chicago and Detroit...
Bike rack on car .... check
Birkenstocks on feet... check
Peace and “coexist” bumper stickers ready to be glued on... check
A further development of the "Fast and Furious" mentality is almost a certainty.
Once a force is trained and equipped they will find a way to use their skills and equipment. If an enemy isn't forthcoming they will manufacture one.
The militarization of local and state police forces is also a disturbing delelopment. And of course, every federal agency now has to have its own quasi-military SWAT force.
There must be a prepper list for this kind of thing.....
There must be some list, FOTFLOL!
We must remember to not comb hair, shave, or take a bath for a few days or weeks....
We'll do a joint authorship........
FYI, when I clicked the link, a stupid Myspace ad popped up after the page had loaded.
Likely not as badly as I do. I need a lot more time with a practice chanter, but I've been using it picking my banjo chops back up instead.
That technique is already utilized by cops. I don't know how many times I've gone to jury duty and the prosecutor asks if anyone has problems with snitches.
Big game hunters typically do not have Apache helicopters, tanks, missiles, or ground attack fighters.
A source I consider reputable sent me an email a few days ago, but for which I do not have a link:
Russian paratroopers will meet up with American forces May 24-31 for military exercise at Colorados Fort Carson.
· The purpose of the joint training is to practice airborne tactics and anti-terror operations, such as dropping into a hostile area and conducting a terrorist camp raid.
· They will use US weaponry and equipment.
· This comes at a time when Russia has troops working in cooperation with China where a joint naval drill in the Yellow Sea is currently underway.
· With 25 vessels and 13 aircraft, it is reportedly one of the largest Russian-China drills in recent history.
Just did a google:
Here is a link from a not-so-great source:
Oh... it’s only 22? I had heard thousands (up to 120K!). We can take ‘em, Red Dawn Part II. :0)
I was looking for links about this the other day too, and went down the rabbit hole into the “One World Airport Authority” plaque in the Denver airport... Apparently no such agency exists.
We have that many readers for our prepper book?
We could set up a store selling the necessary camo stuff.
That wasn't even an agency. Many NOPD's quit. Many mercenaries moved in. The attitude of many of the citizens was "Do you think they came all that way NOT to shoot somebody?"
