Honchos at Superman's comic book home, DC Comics, said this weekend that one of their most identifiable (but as of yet unnamed) straight characters will soon be coming out of the closet, according to a report.
--> Snip <--
DC vice president Bob Wayne likened DC's change in tune to President Obama's shift on gay marriage, explaining that DC's policy has evolved, the report says.

Dear DC,
What is the age demographic for your Comic Books?
And, does this age demographic view homosexuality in a positive, or a negative light? Is is identifying a “friend” as a homosexual viewed as a compliment, or an insult?
What do you suppose this will do to your comic’s circulation?

DC Comics announces that one of its most identifiable characters is going to be coming out as gay. Speculation that it will be Superman. I’m so pizzed off.

Probably, but remember also that most artistic types are of the lib camp. So they wouldn’t need much encouragement.

What do you suppose this will do to your comics circulation?Hard to say if this is activism or opportunism.
It's fvckin' disgusting any way you turn it. And as for this "homo spring", all I can say is the backlash that seems to be brewing will be visceral, sure and final.

Could Superman be gay? That would explain a lot...
To: twister881
I’m guessing Jimmy Olsen. The actor who played him in the 1950s “Adventures of Superman”, Jack Larson, is gay. He’s still around, so they’ll probably bring him in for some promotional appearances to publicize how D.C, comics has “evolved.”
To: twister881
Well, if it was Marvel, I'd guess Hulk....
I can just see him getting all angry...."HULK HORNY"
or may Bawney Fwank slapping his alter ego around just to get him big and green.

In comics, there has always been two dynamics at work. First is writers using the stories to promote an agenda based on current events (The old war comics promoted America and the American way...today it’s every feel-good liberal ideal)
Then, there is profit. Someone at DC is gambling that they can profit from this in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Or they are so ideologically driven that like the MSM, it’s ALL about the agenda.
Sell stock folks.
To: twister881
NO!
The only being Superman could bone without blowing them up would be Supergirl.
That would make him decidedly hetersexual.

Superman can't be gay
If so, wouldn't his super-sperm, when deposited in a male, go searching for something to impregnate, and, when not finding it, millions of super-sperm would exit the body, killing the dude, and fly off to impregnate an egg somewhere?
I've always wondered why Superman didn't blow off the top of Lois Lane's head. I mean, if he's super and all.

There was a time that comic books were aimed at a wide demographic of American boys. Not now.
They just assume that if you are reading comics that you are a middle-aged, leftist, gay, loser living in your mom’s basement.

Even he’s just a comic character Superman has come to be an inseparable part of Americana. Now remember that they made him renounce American citizenship/America. So being gay is just another step in destroying that part of our history/culture.
Makes perfect sense they would.

"Could Superman be gay?"
This is a trick question . . . right? An early middle-aged male running around in all-in-one tights (complete with booties) and a cape? . . . who has a 6-pack?
Shoot Superman could walk down the street in SF or Houston's Montrose section and no one would bat an eye.
LOL!!!!!

No! Not Bouncing Boy. He is I believe the FIRST Legionairre to get married. I don’t remember if she was still Triplicate Girl or had already been pared down to Duo Damsel. Based on his choice for a mate, he might have some strange proclivities, but DEFINITELY not homosexual.

It's not going to be Superman. It won't be Batman. It won't be any A-list characters.
The idea is to generate controversy, attention & sales for a dying hobby. So, a B-list character will work just fine (like when Marvel made Northstar gay. Who? Exactly).
The formula is really quite simple. The success, however, is never guaranteed.

If Superman(the Man of Steel) turns out to be gay a lot of the comic book dialog from other characters will be “my butt hurts”
It will certainly make “faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive” have a new meaning.
