Putin's return to power roils relations with U.S.
San Francisco Comical ^ | May20, 2012 | Joel Brinkley

Now that Vladimir Putin is back in the Kremlin's highest office as the result of another fraudulent election, Americans should expect ever more hostile relations with Russia.

Putin, a vain and vulgar man, was born and bred to despise the United States. And in recent times, Washington has given him little reason to change his mind.

The latest example: President Obama waited several days before calling Putin to congratulate him on his inauguration as president this month - though Obama did manage to call Francois Hollande just a few hours after he was declared the winner of the French presidential elections. And if you want to see what Putin has in store for the United States, there's no better example than his government's treatment of Michael McFaul, the new ambassador from Washington.

Ever since McFaul arrived in January, the government and the state-owned news media have treated him as a pariah - heckling and harassing him, bugging his phones and reading his e-mails while accusing him of plotting with opposition figures to overthrow the government. "Aren't you ashamed to be doing do this?" McFaul asked a TV crew that ambushed him. "This is against the Geneva Convention." Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reacting to McFaul's complaints, sniffed and called him "arrogant."

What makes this seem so odd, at least on the surface, is that McFaul had come directly from the National Security Council, where he'd been charged with directing the "reset" with Russia, Obama's effort to improve relations with Moscow. McFaul, on leave from Stanford University, has spent most of his life studying and writing about Russia.

Joel can't seem to see what is really "odd".

With all this disrespect Putin has for Obama, the US State Department, and Obama's appointed officials, Putin and the rest of the Russian government has wholeheartedly endorsed Obama for reelection as President of the US.

I suspect that Putin is smarter than Joel Brinkley at determining what is best........for Russia.

I think the author is trying to create a foreign enemy so that America will rally around its “leader,” Homobama.

I recently viewed on youtube a 3 hour series from BBC entitled Putin, Russia, and the West. It covered the period from his rise to power thru the recent demonstrations againt Putin and his election.

It was quite interesting as a recap especially considering the US media doesn't cover world affairs very well.

This one doesn't need to be "created" - believe me.

Brinkley is an American ultra leftist that is pissed because the American and European left are not going to run the world.

Russian Communists used to be their favorite people because they were Communists.

Now Russia is a nationalistic organized crime profit based enterprise, bent on controlling the economy in their sphere of influence.

They will eventually be giving orders to the worlds socialist left, and that's intolerable.

You're right, Brinkley is trying to gin up American resistance to Putin and Russia, American Socialist Leftists need help and are perfectly willing to sacrifice ordinary Americans to get it just like FDR ensured Communist Stalin's survival in WWII.

This does not mean that Putin is a friend to Americans, it means we should let him do as he wishes with the Western European Socialist Left, and not sacrifice Americans or treasure to save them. They spent the entire 20th Century making their bed, Putin is making them lie in it.

US media doesn't cover anything very well, except the Kardashians and George Soros' interests.

George Soros played his part in this subject.

He helped fund the Velvet Revolution, the Rose Revolution, and the Orange Revolution.

A lot of people will point out that Bush and the NeoCons muffed all that and the article you posted above points out a good example. Gates(and Rice) made an offer on the Czech/Polish shield but the NeoCons rejected that.

George Soros played his part in this subject.

That's why I referenced him, but you know that.

Few realize that the troubles for Putin, the continued anti Christian Balkanization of Eastern Europe, the Socialist economic meltdown of Western Europe, the Caliphate creating Arab Spring "democracy" troubles in the Middle East, and the Occupy everything class warfare troubles in the US, are all the same group, largely financed by Soros.

Interestingly, only in Russia is Soros a fugitive from justice.

Vlad is just a good old KGB boy longing for the good old days. Watch for him to try to re-create them.

Putin seems to be a level-headed guy, doesn't he? Well, he harbors the same feelings as I do for those very same folks. Know what I mean?

I'm not sure that is the description I would use, Putin is certainly willing to fight, and is serious about winning.

Fortunately, for Russia, he recognizes the enemy to Russia and the Slavs he identifies with, and is willing to make those enemies cease to exist, including their sycophants.

On the other hand, Putin knows this enemy of Russia has the same plans for the United States, and their sycophants are the American Socialist Left.

Putin is in a particularly unusual position, keep the American Socialist Left in power, and America will be destroyed as an economic competitor of Russia and China over the long run, but may be suckered into using American military might to protect the rise of the Caliphate that will rule America and Europe.

If Putin endorsed Republicans for election in the States, and they were elected, American economic might and competition would likely return, but military support of European uber Socialists and Islamisists would continue, making Russia's position more difficult.

Putin was indeed born and bred to despise the USA. Putin was fed anti-Americanism in his mother’s milk. Putin’s father was NKVD and his grandfather was trusted to be Lenin’s cook.

Moscow has more muslims than any other European city. If Europe goes muslim, Russia will lead the way. The biggest mosque in Europe is in Russia. It was built there during Putin's regime. Putin said Russia is Islam's best friend in the world. Russia will go muslim way before the USA ever will. One out of every seven Russian citizens is muslim. Putin hands out Russian citizenship to non-Russian Caucasus mountain people from Georgia! They vote over a hundred percent for Putin but his popularity amongst real ethnic Russians is much lower. With God's help real Russian patriots will destroy Putin's evil regime.

There is no forced political correctnass in Russia. As soon as there will be a real problem they’ll deal with it and even Putin won’t stand to it.

When a Russian newspaper printed the mohammed cartoons, Putin shut the newspaper down permanently. Critics of the Putin regime are targeted and smeared as agents of western influence. Russians have lost their free elections, their freedom of the press, freedom of speech and now they’ve even lost their freedom of religion. In today’s tyrannical Putinist Russia to pray aloud in a church for deliverance from Putin’s wickedness could result in one’s imprisonment. Thou shalt not blaspheme the false idol Putin.

New Cartoon Showing Muhammad Prompts the Closing of a Russian Paper - February 18, 2006 - In a controversy with echoes of the Islamic anger over Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, the authorities in a central Russian city on Friday ordered the closing of a newspaper that published a cartoon showing Muhammad, along with Jesus, Moses and Buddha. The cartoon, published Feb. 9 in the official city newspaper in Volgograd, prompted some criticism and a federal criminal investigation, but no public outrage.

Volgograd's first deputy mayor, Andrei O. Doronin, announced the closing of the newspaper, Gorodskiye Vesti, or City News, "in order not to inflame ethnic hostilities," according to the official Russian Information Agency. ....President Vladimir V. Putin said, "One has to think a hundred times before publishing something, doing something or drawing something." On Friday, the Prosecutor General's Office announced that it had opened a criminal case against the editor of a newspaper in Vologda, north of Moscow, which had reprinted the Danish cartoons on Wednesday.

Most of the criticism against the cartoon in Volgograd came not from Muslim or other religious leaders, but rather from the local branch of United Russia, the pro-Putin political party that dominates governments across the country.

Russian journalists denounced Friday's decision as censorship. "It is a downright disgrace," Igor Yakovenko of the Russian Union of Journalists told the Interfax news agency. "Russia is the only country that has reacted to the caricature scandal in such a manner."

BS.

http://www.gorvesti.ru/

As you can see from that link this paper is alive and well.

I have no idea how could city authorities order to “close” a newspaper.
They just don’t have the power to do that, even in Russia.

These must be a court decision and Russian courts are under control from EU court.

I think one liberal from a city counsil told he don’t like a paper and other liberals reported city ordered to close it.

Browse this paper archives and you’ll find it worked well through 2006 as well.
