SALISBURY - The teacher at the center of a controversy over a classroom video has now been suspended with pay, according to the Rowan Salisbury School System.
Tonya Dixon-Neely teaches Social Studies at North Rowan High. She is heard on the video telling a student that he could get arrested for being critical of President Obama, and that people were arrested for being critical of President Bush.
"Effective today, Tanya Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay while a thorough investigation is being conducted," school officials told WBTV when asked about Dixon-Neely's status.
The link to the video first showed up at WBTV on Tuesday of last week.
It came from a man who said he was a former teacher in the Rowan Salisbury School System. He claimed that a student inside a classroom at North Rowan High School was being verbally abused in a debate over President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney.
"This video is circulating the internet. It is about a North Rowan High School social studies teacher that is verbally abusing a student regarding a question about the President and Mitt Romney," he told WBTV in his email.
"Please watch and listen to the actions of the teacher in this video and bring this type of bullying of students by the staff of RSS to light. As a former social studies teacher in the RSS system, I can tell you that this type of behavior is commonplace," his email continued. "This should not be allowed to be covered up by RSS, as they nearly always do."

I just can’t believe that someone this ignorant can be a high school Social Studies teacher. Also can’t believe anyone would allow her to teach their kids. Then again, look who Americans elected as their President.
It would be interesting to learn what this “teacher’s” qualifications are to be a high school social studies. It would be interesting to learn why and who hired her, although we all know the why don’t we?

What’s interesting in this audio is it sounds like there were a number of black students questioning the bias of the teacher. “If you’re going to talk trash about one side then you should talk trash about the other.” One could only hope that some would start waking.

I will bet you she has absolutely NO idea why she has been suspended. Her living room is probably filled with rabble rousers and community organizers all scratching their heads and trying to figure out what she did wrong. My bet is that this teacher is under a union contract and will get some minor slap on the wrist, an extra a two week paid vacation and be back teaching this same lunacy next year. If I were a parent in that district I would demand the teacher be fired for gross incompetence.
Agreed, plus, if I ran a classroom like that, with kids talking in the background and carrying on like they are, I’d have lost my job long ago. Instead, this dumb idiot gets a paid vacation. Methinks it’s the administrators who need to be fired right along with this poor excuse for a teacher.

Why would the student want to “talk to her” as the student in the quote suggests. She is obviously dumb as a rock. Having to listen to her all year must have been torture. Can’t imagine why he’d be interested in a word she’d have to say. I think the goal was to expose her, and he certainly has succeeded! Good for him!

The kid was getting beaten up verbally for expressing his opinions. If he didn’t “participate” in class he got marked down. He was in a lose-lose situation and needed some evidence to be able to extricate himself.
I never did understand why it's okay for a gang of blacks to beat up a white male and then gang rape his white girl friend before killing both of them, yet Jesse, Al, and all the other "black spokespersons" don't have crap to say anything about black racism. White people are afraid to go into black neighborhoods because the news is filled with black violence towards whites, especially "on their own turf". I think blacks, as a percentage, are more racist than whites.

The teacher cannot speak English properly, is indoctrinating and is yelling...no business being a teacher...
The kid is disrespectful to her, uses foul language and yells back...though he is right in his argument.

Welcome to ASP
Since an effective citizen is a self-disciplined person, the long-range goal of all students must be self- discipline.
The administrator may assign students to ASP as an alternative to out of school suspension. Parents and guardians are notified, and teachers are responsible for getting assignments to students who have been placed in the program.
All classroom assignments must be completed and turned in to his/her teachers within the time allowed. Students will receive full credit only for work completed during the suspension.
The ASP has created an atmosphere where suspended
students can remain in an academic environment and make up missed assignments during their suspensions. Students are responsible for making up their suspension days by attending the ASP Suite as scheduled.
It is encouraged that all students attending ASP come with a positive attitude. We want you to be successful.
This is an opportunity for you to complete assignments that
you would miss if not in school.

All this time, NC is asking for MORE money for education...They claim to get the students better educated, they must have more money...The so-called “Education Lottery” was passed a few years ago and we were told this would be the save-all end-all of education financial problems in NC....Yeah......riiiiiiiight.........

The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is BY FAR, the largest, most expensive, most subversive, and most destructive entitlement program in the country.
The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is better understood as the “government school collective”.
It is silly to imagine that you can fix the public schools, because the very concept itself is communist.
Any child that comes out of the government school collective with their moral compass and common sense intact does so in spite of the government school indoctrination, not because of it.
If you want to win the culture war, have lots of children (see my tagline) and homeschool them or form your own school cooperative with your church or synagogue and like-minded friends and relatives.
Nobody loves your children more than you do.
Nobody can teach your children like you can.
Your children would love nothing better than to be taught by you, if you start doing so before they are corrupted by the government school collective.
It is hypocritical for you to submit your children to an authority with whom you fundamentally disagree. And your children will know it.
If you have children, make whatever sacrifices you must to get them out of the public schools.
DO NOT FEED THE BEAST!
Especially not with your own children.
And DO NOT TAKE GOVERNMENT “EDUCATION” MONEY!
