Washington, D.C., becoming a 'Mormon stronghold'
Deseret News ^ | May 16, 2012 | Joseph Walker

The stunning expansion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington, D.C., area is profiled in a long, interesting and meticulously accurate CNN story that suggests "the nation's capital has become a Mormon stronghold, with Latter-day Saints playing a big and growing role in the Washington establishment."

-SNIP-

"It's hard to point to federal legislation or a White House initiative that bears distinctly Mormon fingerprints," Gilgoff writes, "while it's easy to do the same for other faiths." He cites as an example a recent White House "compromise" on contraception funding, which he says was "mostly a reaction to pressure from Roman Catholic bishops."

No whining from me. But there’s plenty of whining from the Mormons and the Dems.

Also from the homosexuals: Agreeing with Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 19:4-6 on what constitutes marriage is “bashing gays!!!!”

and from the Mohammedans: Disagreeing with Sharia Law is “Islamophobia!!!!!”

Mormons threatened to kill you — why? Are you a missionary to Mormons? While this of course does not reflect well on the Mormons in their response to you out of their religious disagreement with you, I can guaran-doggone-tee ya that missionaries to Muslims bump up against a much nastier hornets nest. (My church supports one of these.)

I think Mitt is probably INSUFFICIENTLY attentive to the LDS to take a lot of family values issues seriously, and the LDS forefathers would have been scandalized by Mitt’s flip flopping.

And you would be wrong. Romney is a temple mormon, only about 15% reach this high level.

does that change the issue about whether the guard ought to told to change this November?

Nope.

It also fails to negate certain lessons from history:

1 Samuel 8:19-20 NIV

“We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

“We want a king over us.

Obama is our king.

Almost EVERYone knows that he is 'dead'.

Now it's time for a new king...

1 Samuel 16:6-7

When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Romney is our Eliab.

But the bottom line is...

1 Samuel 8:7
Then the Lord GOD said, “For they have not rejected thee, but me, that I should not reign over them.”

I was quote from another poster. The one who gave an ANSWER to the fellow who was demanding an answer.

reaganaut said that, not colofornian.

Since you've lumped them together; does it really matter to you just WHICH one said it?

Your question was ANSWERED by one, and AGREED to by the other.

Or did you miss the INDEED word?

Give me a little slack, for it appears that I am under a CURSE! (verse 10)

The

DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS

OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

SECTION 71

Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, December 1, 1831. HC 1: 238–239. The Prophet had continued to translate the Bible with Sidney Rigdon as his scribe until this revelation was received, at which time it was temporarily laid aside so as to enable them to fulfill the instruction given herein. The brethren were to go forth to preach in order to allay the unfriendly feelings that had developed against the Church as a result of the publication of some newspaper articles by Ezra Booth, who had apostatized.

1–4, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon are sent forth to proclaim the gospel; 5–11, Enemies of the saints shall be confounded.

1 Behold, thus saith the Lord unto you my servants Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon, that the time has verily come that it is necessary and expedient in me that you should open your mouths in proclaiming my gospel, the things of the kingdom, expounding the mysteries thereof out of the scriptures, according to that portion of Spirit and power which shall be given unto you, even as I will.

2 Verily I say unto you, proclaim unto the world in the regions round about, and in the church also, for the space of a season, even until it shall be made known unto you.

3 Verily this is a mission for a season, which I give unto you.

4 Wherefore, labor ye in my vineyard. Call upon the inhabitants of the earth, and bear record, and prepare the way for the commandments and revelations which are to come.

5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also;

6 For unto him that receiveth it shall be given more abundantly, even power.

7 Wherefore, confound your enemies; call upon them to meet you both in public and in private; and inasmuch as ye are faithful their shame shall be made manifest.

8 Wherefore, let them bring forth their strong reasons against the Lord.

9 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you—there is no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper;

10 And if any man lift his voice against you he shall be confounded in mine own due time.

11 Wherefore, keep my commandments; they are true and faithful. Even so. Amen.

I would agree that Mormonism can be bad for one's brain, but South Park did a better job on that topic than I ever could.

And the topic of whether Mormonism is more dangerous than Islam for this country has NOT been settled - I do not see colofornian backing away from that point of view at all. I will give you credit for taking Mormonism to task doctrinally without taking things beyond that point to absurdity. But others have taken it there.

Are you getting desperate in your reach? There wasn’t even the pretense of a constitution in the situation the Israelites wanted to set up. Also, if Mitt would be a king so would Obama be, leading to utter stalemate in the argument.

Does who have the morals of ally cats?
I said the lds founding leaders would not be scandalized by Romney’s “flip flops” and you are talking about cats.
You will have to expand your question.

... tak[e] Mormonism to task doctrinally without taking things beyond that point to absurdity.

Well stated DB! AND absurdity is a good word for it - which has been PERFECTLY illustrated on this thread.

Elsie, as SUPREME imanInman of the FMTS, what say you to this well-reasoned point? Consider a RULE, to be passed along to ALL the FLYING inmans, that radical ISLAM poses a greater evil, and physical threat, to the WORLD than the followers who believe they are destined for planet KOLOB?

mormonism and islam pose a great threat to the eternal soul.
mormonism can result in great physical/emotional damage to families, and friends of families if you refuse to follow mormonism.
I have seen families shredded and shunned by lds who dare to try an leave mormonism.
I have seen this first hand, I have experienced this first hand.

No need for me to do that.

If posting MORMON documents, however, shows the absurdity of MORMONism'd foundation; well - I can hardly take credit for that.
