Palin endorses Hatch (Utah alert)
The Hill ^ | May 23, 2012 | Cameron Joseph

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has endorsed Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who is facing a Tea Party challenge from former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist (R).

"I want him to win. I join Sean Hannity and Mark Levin and other conservatives who would like to see Mr. Balanced Budget return to Washington," Palin said on Fox News on Tuesday night. "He wants to apply that common-sense economic principle of balanced-budget fiscal responsibility, and I want to see him reelected."

Palin is the latest big-name conservative to signal she has no problem with the six-term senator.

Hatch has a big advantage over Liljenquist — his fundraising numbers are much stronger, polls show he remains popular with Republicans overall in the state, and while conservative FreedomWorks is targeting him, the bigger-spending Club for Growth has taken a pass on the race.

If this is true, I want him to win too.

Does he?

Yes, please excuse the hurried nature of my thoughts.

I was only surprised that she didn’t endorse Dick Lugar as well.

You would think that Palin would endorse Lugar because he's a maverick?

Share your stash, it sounds like it is potent! ; )

Hatch has made some compromises that I don't like, but he is nowhere near as bad as the dozen or so RINOs that I most want to see tossed out.

Agreed. Don't know why so many are breathing fire against Hatch. He's not bad.

He was great on Clarence Thomas and was stalwart in speaking out against Clinton corruption.

There are much worst reps in Congress.

As Rush so succinctly put it today, without Hatch, there would be no Justice Thomas on the Supreme Court.

Old attachments die hard and for decades, Orin Hatch was one of the stalwarts holding the line against the left. He personally shepherded Thomas through his confirmation and has been instrumental in fighting the good fight. On the Senate Judiciary Committee, hatch has been the primary thorn in the side of Democrats for a very long time.

It's understandable that some are loyal to him out of gratitude for his long out-standing record of service . . . if he's gotten a little too wishy-washy in his old age, they'll over look his flaws.

This is one reason that I am so strongly in favor of term limits--even though the Constitution doesn't mention them. Old folks lose their edge. They become too close to their adversaries, simply out of proximity if nothing else. They begin to compromise their ideals just to remain popular . . . and sometimes they suffer the "silly old man syndrome" and marry a woman far younger and more liberal than they--as Barry Goldwater did.

Ole Orrin was only too happpy to try to pass amnesty for all the illegals when Dubya was in office. If it was up to him and McStain we would have 12 million new citizens on welfare right now.

Obama is turning the U.S. into Zimbawe,Uganda or South Africa and you all think that a single endorsement by Sarah Palin who is not running is a problem. Anything to bash Palin and help the liberal media .Amazing. What about impeaching this Marxist/communist illegal thug that the media installed as president and calls itself Obama?

Yeah, I read this on facebook yesterday and it really disappointed me.

Maybe she owed Hatch a favor like she did McLame.

Obama is going to pass Amnesty for illegals in its 2nd term when it has “more flexibility”. It also will install 3 extremely Marxist Supreme court justices into the Supreme Court, pile on 5 trillion more in debt on us, grow government size and power even more, and send the rest of our jobs to China. That’s just a few crimes. Many more it will do.

Doesn't 6 term senator set off a fire alarm with you Sarah? To get the smell out of the barn you have to shovel out what is causing it.

Palin may be O.K. with Orville, but I’m not. We can do better than someone who:

1. Voted 16 times to raise the debt ceiling a total of $7.5 trillion.

2. Voted for TARP.

3. Ranked in the middle of the earmarking pack from 2008 to 2010, and in 2010 was 28th highest among the nation’s 100 senators.

Thirty-six years of this guy is enough. Time for a change.

Support Liljenquist. I sent him another donation today after hearing about Palin’s endorsement.

For those with short memories, Hatch was a MAJOR proponent of the brutally racist, unconstitutional Federal HATE CRIMES legislation.

Jump, meet Shark.

I made a donation to Liljenquist. Then I saw him and heard him speak. IMHO, a phony lightweight. No style, no substance. Then he starts kissing Glenn Beck’s ass. He lost me.

Flame away.

My thinking is that the Orrin Hatch campaign just might have some internal polling that shows Hatch is tottering on the edge of defeat in the primary or at least trending toward that possibility. Hence the sudden call out of the cavalry (Palin, Hannity, etc.) to ride to the rescue.

While I continue to hold Sarah Palin in VERY high regard, I still encourage Utah conservative Republicans to vote for Dan Liljenquist and others to support Liljenquist however they can.

It’s either Liljenquist or Hatch. Liljenquist is not perfect, but Hatch is part of the problem.
