WALTER REED - DC: Post Closing Report May 23,2012

MESSAGE FROM CINDY-TRUE-SUPPORTER:

"Yesterday I (Cindy_True_Supporter) and the mother of a wounded warrior that I met before the closing of Walter Reed- DC had the opportunity to have lunch with Cliff, the evening manager of the Mologne House at WRAMC. He conveyed to me how important our group was outside of Walter Reed with supportive signs of our wounded troops. He stressed that our presence was of tremendous importance in their recovery and in trying to deal with depression and self worth. Our appearance at the gate and on the corners in front of the hospital was something they could count on every Friday evening. They were so amazed that people would care enough to come out over a period of years in any weather condition without an agenda other than supporting our military. So many VIPs went into Walter Reed for a photo op and a pat on their own backs for showing support of our military. Cliff repeatedly remarked on the many times he was told by the patients and their families how much we were appreciated, and that we would probably never know how much good our efforts had on the recovery process of the wounded."

"He asked if our group still got together so I could extend a big THANK YOU on his behalf for Mologne House staff. Since we rarely see each other on a regular basis any more, I’m writing this message to tell all of our group of patriots who came out to WRAMC - YOU WERE SO IMPORTANT IN THE HEALING OF OUR MILITARY!"

Another great memory. That was only the second time that the Molonge House dinner bus stopped. We all gathered on Lurker Bill’s corner to get onto the bus to thank our wounded warriors. Of course the sparklers had not yet gone out so that made it interesting outside the bus. If memory serves me still, didn’t both buses stop?

You all did a great job there, year after year.

It was an honor to come out there when ever I was in DC.

What a great response from the Warriors. It’s gratifying that they were so blessed.

I know I really enjoyed it when we went inside to talk to those Great Patriotic Americans!

Thank You DC Chapter for being there every week. Y’all represented we FReepers who live throughout this great country and were unable to join you.

Again, Thank You!

The visits inside were also memorable. Our donations took up two tables on Friday nights. To talk to the wounded warriors as they got cigarettes and CIGARS, sodas, candy, small gifts for their wives and kids was heart warming. I even got to play poker with them one Friday night after FReeping. Long night.

Great bunch of soldiers after being through so much.

You are welcome.

The weekly AARs were sometimes later than we wanted but as you say, they were there for all of FR to share in our support of our troops.

A special thanks to all the writers and picture takers of the AARs.

Yes, we could all enjoy some Moochele Zero's approved BOW Wow Chow! Even our 1/32 Cherokee President might drop by for a photo op.

This Massachusetts Freeper salutes all of you for your often under appreciated efforts to make sure that the liberal moonbat antiwar voices were not the only ones that our troops heard.

Growing up in a military family in the sixties and seventies and seeing how our veterans were treated post-Vietnam, I had vowed I would never again stand silently by and watch it happen.

Thanks to all of you, I had a viable option to fulfill that vow.

I am grateful to all of you for that, and for the opportunity to have met you and stood with you on those rare occasions I was able to participate.

All of you, the Trooprallys, CTS, Guns, Frax, Concrete Bob, Lurker Bill, kristinn, BufordP, and so many more, I feel that I have made friends for life. You know the kind...even if you don’t see them for 10 years, when you do, it is as if no time has passed.

And a special thanks to you two, Mr. and Mrs. Trooprally. I thank you both for the most obvious hospitality you have rendered me, my family (Mike and Al) and friends (veeram) whenever we have been in the area.

But mort of all, I thank you for your dogged persistence, dedication, and effort in your support of our military. Most people on FR will never know, but I do, in spades.

Of all things, your courage to say what needed saying, when it needed saying in the face of obnoxious opposition, was the epitome of patriotism.

Principles without courage is wasted. Courage without principles is futile. But courage with principles is a powerful combination.

That the troops in Walter Reed took notice of the efforts you spearheaded is clear, and it is the gratitude of those who most consistently display both courage and principles that counts the most.

I am always a bit over the edge, aren’t I?

We should all add memories of the weeks there.

Good thing Moochele did not stop by the Friday when we had Red-Hot ‘n Blue BBQ for our 4th of July party. She would have fallen over from the aroma of the BBQ sauce.

Good idea 3D.

DC Chapter Master Ping List to ADD YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT WALTER REED. If you could not make a WR Rally but liked a particular AAR, please add your thoughts.

Since I pinged the Chapter I get to add two:

The first night that the bus stopped so the troops could thank us for our support. It was another extremely cold night.

And our BIG 9-11-2009 Rally the weekend of the Beck's 9-12 Rally and the FR Convention.

BufordP's Walter Reed Archives in case you want to check a particular week.

Yep, better late than never concerning our Vets. If the internet was available back during Vietnam, our Vets would be receiving the same support that our current Vets are receiving. Most people just did not know that there were so many patriots out there. The media sure screwed our Vets just as they are trying to screw them now.

Yep, Walter Reed could not have been so successful if it were not for patriots as yourself, Veeram and CDfingers.

And a humble thank you for your kind words about [Mrs] T and myself.

Is this the one with the photos of FReepers and the patriotic back ground music?

If so Lurker Bill put it together for our 3 year anniversary. Then ConcreteBob got the “right” to post videos longer than 10 minutes.

Even if it is not the one, could you please post the link.

Thanks
