'First girlfriend': Valerie Trierweiler has been given an official title and her own team of civil servants and security

She declared she would not copy the high profile of her predecessor Carla Bruni.

But now Valerie Trierweiler has been given an official title and her own team of half-a-dozen civil servants and bodyguards at the Elysee Palace in Paris.

Despite not being married to the new president Francois Hollande, she will be known as the The First Lady of France.

Ms Trierweiler, 47, a twice-married mother of three, also has her own page on the French presidency’s website. An official photograph shows her expertly coiffured with make-up and red nail varnish on manicured hands.

The first couple present themselves as ‘normal’ in contrast to Miss Bruni and ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy, who were derided for their ‘bling bling’ lifestyle and love of the limelight.

It is unclear whether she will receive a salary for carrying out her as yet undefined duties.

However the 47-year-old says she intends to continue in her job as a journalist. She has worked for more than a decade for the respected glossy French magazine Paris Match and recently hosted a political news show on cable television.

Mrs Treiweiler has been scorned and appalled in equal measure in France for the coverage she received during the recent state visit to the USA

At the G8 summit, Mrs Trierweiler strutted out next to the other First Ladies, all in their sensible mid-height heels, in YSL Tribute sandals ($1095) the shoe I would characterise as the designer-brand luxury stiletto of the 2000's, or "hooker" shoes. This follows her  earlier appearence in another pair of YSLs even more extreme, the Palais model at $970.

Have to admit Michelle looks really good in this photo. AND, she isn’t wearing her *teal* shoes, either! Very nice monochromatic suit with matching heels? She’s GOT to have a new stylist, or is listening to SOMEONE now!

Being able to appreciate the fact that she looks good (FINALLY - and at least in this photo, and this suit/shoe combo) doesn’t mean anyone *LOVES* her by any means... I’m wondering which stylist she’s using now, because it can’t be the one she used to use, and she didn’t do it herself!
