Korea will use chemical castration on a convicted repeat child molester for the first time, an official said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Justice said the process will start Friday at the earliest for the 45-year-old man who was convicted of four counts of sexual assault on girls under 13.
This will be the first case of chemical castration on a child molester since the bill was passed in July 2011.
The man fits all the categories for the forced medical treatment, said Kim Hee-gyung, a prosecutor at the Crime Prevention Policy Bureau under the ministry.
The law states a convict may be subject to chemical castration if they have the potential to commit sex offenses against minors repeatedly. The potential subjects are ones who have assaulted children aged under 16 and are diagnosed with pedophilia, an intense sexual desire toward children.
The man, surnamed Park, committed sexual assault against minors four times since 1984. Three of the four victims were 10-year-old girls, including one whom he dragged to a deserted plant on Aug. 2, 2002 and abused sexually and also attempted to rape.

Recommend brain amputation for all child molesters, the only known cure.
I guess it was too much to hope for that the chemical would be acid???
Does it have to be painless?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg wote a paper advocating the age of consent for sex between an adult and a minor be lowered to 11 years old.

Next up on the liberal agenda — adult/child marriage.
Dude, been flipping back and forth between this and a Hillary thread. First blush thought your spiked collar remark was about her...
Hopefully the Koreans can develop some sound statistics on the efficacy of this process.
When I heard about chemical castration years ago that the picture that entered my mind. After all, normal castration involves removing parts. I thought this would be that same.
BTW - Can chemical castration be reversed?
"Chemical castration" is not an event, it's an ongoing process of injecting the offender with the female hormone progestin. If the injections are discontinued, theoretically the process will end and normal function of the testes will return.
“... it is injecting the offender with the female hormone progestin”.
So if a person injected themselves with testosterone... would that reverse the chemical castration?
I don’t know ... I can imagine someone trying it, though.
They’re going to dump him a vat of acid?
So all these creeps need to do is just stop getting injections? It doesn’t sound permanent enough.

So ... what are you going to tell the guy that was falsely accused, wrongly convicted, gets exonerated after several years, but you cut his balls off?
"Sorry" won't be remotely adequate.
A penalty that involves permanent mutilation should be treated no differently from a death penalty, and applied no less sparingly.
I don't particularly trust the government to get things right ... even (especially) in the case of criminal trials.
Chemical castration won’t do anything effective.
Just tie them off with about 10 wraps of a heavy rubberband and wait until they fall off.
