Iran: Discovery will collapse Christianity
WND ^ | 5/21/12 | Reza Kahlili

Iran’s Basij Press is claiming a purported Gospel of Barnabas, discovered in 2000, will prove that Islam is the final and righteous religion, causing the collapse worldwide of Christianity.

In the Barnabas text held by Turkey, chapter 41 states: “God has hidden himself as Archangel Michael ran them (Adam and Eve) out of heaven, (and) when Adam turned, he noticed that at top of the gateway to heaven, it was written ‘La elah ela Allah, Mohamad rasool Allah,’” meaning Allah is the only God and Muhammad his prophet.

According to the Barnabas Gospel in Turkey’s hands, Jesus was never crucified, He’s not the Son of God and He, Himself, predicts the coming of Muhammad. The book even predicts the coming of the last Islamic messiah, the report says.

Turkey plans to put the Bible on public display. Though Turkish authorities believe it could be an authentic version of the Gospel of Barnabas, others believe it only goes back to the 16th century and is a fake because it would have been written centuries after Muhammad’s life.

Erick Stakelbeck, said Iran is highlighting the book because it sees Christianity as a threat.

“In promoting the so-called Barnabas Bible – which is not accepted by any mainstream Christian denomination – the regime is once again attempting to discredit the Christian faith. Record numbers of young Iranians are leaving Islam and embracing Christ, and the mullahs see Christianity as a growing threat to their authority.”

The Vatican has requested to see the text, but it is unknown if Turkey has provided access.

Khamenei said: “In light of the realization of the divine promise by almighty Allah, the Zionists and the Great Satan (America) will soon be defeated. Allah’s promise will be delivered and Islam will be victorious.”

Seriously, Onward Christian Soldiers will not be a hymn sung at services, it will be a rallying cry to arms.

I think the UMC has deleted this hymn from their hymnal.
I so totally wanted to sing Onward Christian Soldiers at the church service held on the 1 year anniversary of 9/11. Instead we sang, "Pass It On" and all that other cr@p. Needless to say, I don't belong to the UMC anymore.

Hey. I got an old copy of a Co-ran that says hold it in your left hand and pray with your butt towards Mecca. There’s also a verse that says pig is good mood food.

Guess thats the end of the ‘Slami sect...

Sheesh....

It is amazing how Muslims continue to lie trying to give credence to their cult.

Like lovely music to my ears.

Got to learn how to play the bagpipes and get a full Kilt. That way we all can march into battle to the pipes playing Onward Christian Soldiers. Bring a Scots Drummer in full kilt to accompany me.

Yeah, the original article was nearly three times the excerpt limit. I went through great pains to keep that sentence in.

There is actually a sect in Japan which claims Jesus escaped to Japan, married and had children. His little brother bought the time necessary for the escape by allowing himself to be crucified in the place of Jesus.

The sect has a couple hundred followers. I don't believe them, but at least they are generally nice people and don't go around chopping off heads of those who disagree with their brand of theology.

Not likely. This sect claims to predate the first Christian missionaries in Japan some 500 years ago. They will even show you the tomb where Jesus’ earthy remains are said to be buried before his spirit ascended into heaven.

Their entire focus is on preserving and maintaining a place for him to return, as they believe he will.

All in all, a totally different pedigree than Aum Shinrikyo.

ON the other hand, Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic are both in there and they’re almost as good...

Not to be confused with “The Epistle of Barnabas,”

which can be cross-referenced in “The Didache.”

What’s wrong with a “scholar” who would take this seriously?
This historic document (probably from Galaxy Quest) should be welcomed with the same derision I feel for my neighbors who are preparing for the Polar Shift.
