WASHINGTON -- In a return to the state that launched his 2008 presidential campaign, President Obama found his folksy voice Thursday night as he warned Iowans that rival Mitt Romney had fed them a “cow pie of distortion.”
“Now, I know Gov. Romney came to Des Moines last week, warned about a ‘prairie fire of debt,’” Obama told a crowd gathered at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. “That’s what he said. But he left out some facts. His speech was more like a cow pie of distortion.”
Obama was referring to a speech Romney gave earlier this month in which he warned that, “a prairie fire of debt is sweeping across Iowa and our nation, and every day we fail to act, we feed that fire with our own lack of resolve.”
“The people of Iowa and America have watched President Obama for nearly four years, much of that time with Congress controlled by his own party,” he said. “And rather than put out the spending fire, he has fed the fire. He has spent more and borrowed more.”
Obama’s spending record has been the topic of much debate recently. A column that appeared on the financial website MarketWatch earlier this week disputed Romney’s claim that spending under Obama has “accelerated at a pace without precedent in recent history.” The column, which declared that “Obama’s spending binge never happened,” went viral on Facebook and sparked a review by the fact-checkers at Politifact, who rated it “mostly true.”

Does this guy really want to run on his fiscal record? Is he that stupid or does he think America is that stupid?
