Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has signed a law aimed at keeping the state's courts or government agencies from basing decisions on Islamic or other foreign legal codes, and a national Muslim group's spokesman said Friday that a court challenge is likely.
The new law, taking effect July 1, doesn't specifically mention Shariah law, which broadly refers to codes within the Islamic legal system. Instead, it says courts, administrative agencies or state tribunals can't base rulings on any foreign law or legal system that would not grant the parties the same rights guaranteed by state and U.S. constitutions.
"This bill should provide protection for Kansas citizens from the application of foreign laws," said Stephen Gele, spokesman for the American Public Policy Alliance, a Michigan group promoting model legislation similar to the new Kansas law. "The bill does not read, in any way, to be discriminatory against any religion."
But supporters have worried specifically about Shariah law being applied in Kansas court cases, and the alliance says on its website that it wants to protect Americans' freedoms from "infiltration" by foreign laws and legal doctrines, "especially Islamic Shariah Law."

Vote them out?
He!!, the GOP is about to nominate one for the highest office in the nation!
Kudos to Kansas, it's citizens, legislature and Governor Brownback for taking a stand that will bring down the wrath of Muslims-posing-as-victims (and their attorneys) as well as 95% of the national media that can't wait to see Sharia law get a toe-hold in America, as it has in the U.K. This is a courageous step but how sad that simply codifying the fact that legal decisions in American courts are based on U.S., not foreign or religious, law is now considered 'controversial'
Can’t imagine what sort of legal case the muzzies can make against this law. The way I read it all it does is guarantee all court decisions in the State are based on laws which are supported by the Constitution.
Brownback is great, and a great change from that leftist idiot Sebelius. Browback is also trying to lower the state income tax and supports voter ID laws. Naturally, he is openly hated by RATS, newspaper editors, Poly-sci profs(who are now allowed to publish lots of leftie editorials), race-baiters, and the usual leftist suspects.
That raises an interesting question: How many children does this tent have? One, two, or three? And should we refer to them as pup-tents?
It will be blocked by pro-Muzzie federal judges just like Oklahoma’s anti-Sharia law was. The will of the people is ALWAYS trumped in modern-day, post-Constitutional America.
Truth. And they’ll fill their rulings with cries and condemnations of so-called “Islamophobia!!!!”
Here in Arizona we have a similar law. The Kansas law simply says courts, administrative agencies or state tribunals can’t base rulings on any foreign law or legal system that would not grant the parties the same rights guaranteed by state and U.S. constitutions. It doesn’t mention Shariah Law or Islam, but the Muslims are up in arms because some supporters of the law mention Shariah Law as an example. I think the law is more aimed at preventing the courts, especially, from citing precedent from the courts in other countries in making rulings in American courts. This has happened where US courts have cited rulings from the much more liberal courts in Canada and Europe. This is just plain wrong: US law should be based on US precedent alone.
How America could possibly give constitutional protection to a murderous cult that has vowed to destroy its host is beyond comprehension.
It is like innoculating oneself with AIDS.
Brownback SIGNED the tax cut law already! The Democrats, RINOs, and KS mainstream media are having a meltdown over it!
No more KS state income tax on nonwage income for S Corps, LLCs, and sole proprietorships. Individual tax rates drop too. Top bracket will be 4.9 instead of 6.75.
Thanks for posting, KG!
For all of his faults, Romney is far, far better than Obama, on all of the above!
Time to take out the garbage!
