Obama pledges no more wars unless "absolutely necessary" Photo 1:00pm EDT

ARLINGTON, Virginia (Reuters) - President Barack Obama honored veterans on Monday by noting "the light of a new day" of having U.S. troops home from Iraq and returning soon from Afghanistan, while promising not to send soldiers back to war without a clear need.

Obama did not mention tension with Iran and Syria in his remarks to veterans and military families at a hot, sunny Memorial Day ceremony, focusing instead on the wars started by his predecessor, George W. Bush, that he wound down as president.

"After a decade under the dark cloud of war, we can see the light of a new day on the horizon," he said at Arlington National Cemetery, drawing applause when he noted the "milestone" of it being the first Memorial Day in nine years without Americans fighting and dying in Iraq.

"As commander in chief, I can tell you that sending our troops into harm's way is the most wrenching decision that I have to make," Obama said shortly after laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

"I can promise you I will never do so unless it is absolutely necessary and that when we do, we must give our troops a clear mission and the full support of a grateful nation."

OK, but I think we need to define what he means by “absolutely necessary.”

Absolutely necessary means that he needs a war to help his election prospects.

Bush was one of the exceptions, but virtually all of America’s wars, and especially the major wars, were started by Democrats.

Funny, that.

Some of the wars were more necessary than others. But clinton started the war against Serbia chiefly to take attention away from Monicagate. He didn’t bother him one bit that we fought it on the wrong side.

Just like we fought Obama’s little Libyan war on the wrong side.

And we deposed the Shah of Iran and installed Muslim terrorists in his place so Jimmy Carter could get some points from the intelligentsia.

I would bet that there is a 60% chance of the U.S. going to war with Iran before the upcoming Presidential election.

Why else would Obama put a caveat like that in that statement?

Oh boy, brace yourselves, our hero has spoken, the war mongering naricissist has a game plan. The catch22 was “absolutely necessary”.

Whatever, dude, whatever, and tomorrow the flip flop and spin a Civil war on us.

They demand a free education and say it is all politics, and, yet, they claim no war is ongoing.

Let us feel so guilty of being alive and not gay, no more war, no more nothing.

No more wars? Then why has he declared war on capitalism, the constitution, and is trying to start a race war?

I thought dropping the hammer on OBL was the most “wrenching decision” made by a President ever?

Well he’s only got 5 more months til we kick his sorry butt out of office. Hopefully not enough time to start another unneccesary war.

Obummer is getting very scared as he is now doing a 2nd Memorial day tribute at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. I wonder if he invited Bill Ayers to attend with him?
