Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has now secured at least 88 of the 155 delegates at stake in the Texas Primary, bringing his secured delegate total to 1174, 30 more than necessary to win the majority of the delegated needed for the GOP nomination.
With 4% of Texas precincts now reporting, Romney has consistently maintained or increased a 60 point lead over his nearest competitor, Congressman Ron Paul.
In the contested race for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, David Dewhurst is holding a 48% to 31% lead over his nearest rival Ted Cruz in a nine person contest.

Rebellion is HARD and its scary, but if not I, then whom?
Love your mindset, Rita. That's the sort of spirit that birthed this country. I'm sure that your forefathers (and mothers) look down and smile with wizened approval and great pride upon their daughter.
It's a sad fact of the human condition, that most of us are simply too cowardly to stand firm on timeless principles of right and wrong. Even when not directly threatened with death or gross injury, most humans will blink and take the easiest way out of a stressful situation -- like a presidential election.
The elites understand them better than they understand themselves, and use their cowardice and moral weaknesses against them, by fronting false champions to garner their votes in our republican system of government. It's frightening, and even maddening, to watch them fall prey to such easy manipulation.
Should a day come when the bugle calls all patriots together for a last defense of the republic, I know that you will be there. So will I.
No one in my household voted for Romney today. We either left it blank or voted “undetermined”.
We will hold our noses and vote Romney in November simply because we all utterly, utterly detest Obama.
Hopefully, 2012 results will be better than 2008 results when I held my hose and voted McCain. The bright spot then was I considered myself voting for Palin while McCain happened to be on the ticket.
Congrats to Mr. Romney...he won in spite of my vote in primary! In general I am firmly ABO.
3rd party is a loser historically. Do not waste your resources on 3rd party hopes and dreams. Just think, if many conservatives lose in Republican primaries how in the heck they have a chance in general?Better strategy is to defeat non-conservatives running as Republicans.
MurryMom, that must be you.
*murrymom* - now that brings back memories. I actually liked having her around as an example ... she was the resident liberal. She was a pretty good sport about it all ...
I’m not cheering anybody, I’m cheering against Obama....and like it or not, Romney is the only horse left...it’s not what I wanted, but there it is. Get Obama out of there, then we’ll cross that bridge.
And I do have certain hot-buttons, referring to Nazi Death Camps as “Polish Death Camps” is one of them...and Obama crossed that line.
You mean you voted liberal.
Perhaps that was an error on my part. At least MurryMom kept her rabid Socialism in the Democrat party. Altura likes its Socialism heavily in the R’s. Best way to destroy it from within, y’know.
Sure, I knew Lugar was defeated. He was, and still is, a RINO, though.
He was not the point of my post, however, just an example of an “entitled” RINO. He is also a sore loser.
I suspect that is half right. If Romney wins, then conservatives will have time to organize and fight in the next election. If Obama wins, future elections will be more like Venezuela and Maximum Leader will have already determined the outcome.
I Googled ‘Romney 2012 Texas campaign stops’ and got zip.
IIRC, the only time he was in Texas was to get an endorsement from Bush I in Houston.
Mr. Romney, Don’t take Texas for granted, now or in the future!
You and so many others who blame “the GOP” for nominating Romney..........why didn’t YOU and the others who supported other candidates get out there and work harder? Instead, what I saw was the circular firing squad. Every candidate was ridiculed and attacked non-stop by the good conservatives claiming that said candidate was simply not conservative enough.
YOU had time to nominate your dream candidate. By the way, who would that be? And why didn’t you work harder for that candidate?
I really don’t get it. You and so many others are willing to hand Obama a lame duck presidency AND allow him to change the supreme court for our lifetime. You’re okay with that. Spare me the required “Romney will be no better”. Nonsense. Same thing was said about John McCain. By the way, did John McCain support Kagan and Sotamayor? I mean, there would have been no difference if that “rino” was elected, right?
If you’re unhappy with Mitt Romney as the republican candidate for President of the United States of America, look in the mirror and ask that person why that person didn’t work harder for the “dream” candidate.
It’s really getting old, this “sore/loserman” attitude from those on the right who didn’t get THEIR candidate, whoever that may be.
Now, flame away, you and the other good conservatives.
Romney is already worse than Obama.
The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006
"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys. He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>
"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!
Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

Romney (might have) won the nomination. I am not sore about it. It’s what the GOPe wants and they got it.
It’s a good thing I am not a part of the gope and I don’t have to support their candidate.
You joined FR today just to tell people to not vote for Romney. Obot troll, did you come over from Kos or DUmmie land?
If you dont understand that the American Revolution was a civil war then you dont know history...
Like the Civil War of 1861-65 there are several components that were present...
1/3 of the country were rebels (Patriots now)
1/3 were Loyalists
1/3 couldnt care less, didnt get involved or it wasnt happening in their back yard..
There was a lot of jealousy and envy going on as far as the lands that people owned and others wanted...
Like those Americans in the South 61-65, Loyalists also had their lands confiscated...
In NYC posters listing Persons of Suspect on trees and doors included not only real Loyalists but also any one who was disfavored and/or had some land that someone else could steal..
(This was copied 10 years later in France..)
Neighbors were turning in their lifelong friends and being rewarded with the land and houses and belongings gratis or for mere pennies on the pound..
Just like the carpetbaggers who could pick up great plantations in the South just for the price of the taxes...
My ancestors just happened to have moved out from NY to the Susquehanna River Valley (Wyoming Co) where the war was happening 3 years later...
They didnt start out as Loyalists ...they were forced to fight to get their lands back ...
They never did nor did 1000s of others...
The American Loyalists were not cowards...mine lived right on the frontier where you carried a gun to draw water from the well or river...
The British were no nicer to the Loyalists than the rebels were...
When men on the frontier were called out to fight the French and the Indians, after the fighting was over, they usually announce they were going home to plow and seed their fields or to harvest their crops and off they would go...they were not regular troops...
During the AR when the men wanted to go, they were shot by the British for treason and desertion..
Suddenly the rules were different...
As for cowards, during the winter of 1777 that Washington spent in Valley Forge...he had 12,000 men, 6,000 died of desease or deserted...more left than died...
Would you call those men cowards...they were not leaving to plant their fields or harvest crops..
English?
They will ban you.
Ditto
IM going to try to make this simple. Try... Dont know if Ill succeed...
Socialism: Tyranny of statists. Death of individual freedom. Very bad thing.
DEMOCRAT PARTY: Political party that is filled with and lead by idiots who are driven by the socialist ideology. An apparatus of the socialist ideology. We hate the democrat party because it is advancing the socialist ideology.
OBAMA: A member of the democrat party. Useful idiot of the socialist ideology. We hate him because hes a socialist.
REPUBLICAN PARTY: A political party that used to be the ONLY legitimate opposition to socialism. However, over the years it has become infested with “liberal republicans” (socialists) to the point that it is now on the verge of becoming another apparatus of the socialist ideology.
ROMNEY: A “liberal republican” (socialist). Useful idiot of the socialist ideology. We hate him because he is a socialist. If the republican party nominates him, the republican party will cease to be whatever minimal opposition it now is to the advancement of socialism in this country.
TYPICAL RUN OF THE MILL IDIOT REPUBLICAN VOTER: “Democrats bad! anything better than democrats!” Completely ignores or is IGNORANT to WHY democrats are bad. Also... “Romney is better than obama any day!” completely ignoring or ignorant to the fact that both romney and obama are faithful to the same ideology (socialism).
DANGER: Obama (socialist) gets reelected as a democrat. Continues to try and advance his socialist agenda. The republican party continues to offer meager opposition to his socialist agenda.
F’ING DISASTER: Romney (socialist) gets elected as a republican. Is able to advance his socialist agenda without meaningful opposition. “But” you say “What about the conservatives in congress holding his feet to the fire” First of all there are not enough true conservatives in congress to make a difference. Second, the democrat socialists will recognize that the socialist agenda is being advanced and will support Romneys agenda, filling in the missing votes.
If you leave out the democrat -vs- republican dogma and concentrate on socialism -vs- freedom. You will be able to see that it is FAR better to preserve the ONE LEGITIMATE opposition to socialism in this country. Thanks to the socialists in the republican party, the democrat socialists who crossed over to vote for romney in the primaries and idiot republican voters who see only DEM -vs- GOP, we are in danger of losing that last opposition. THAT is UNACCEPTABLE!! So IF, the GOP doesnt WISE the F up and dump romney at the convention, it will be in the best interest of EVERY conservative to make sure that we preserve the republican party as the opposition to socialism by making sure romney (socialist) never gets elected. Plus the proper blame for this WILL be placed on the “progressive” wing of the GOP.
Geez....hope you didn’t choke. Friend, you have your view, I have my view. By the way....it’s called freedom. Here’s mine: ABO, Anybody But Obama!!! No need to get sick, most people have different opinions!!! Tunnel Vision at work!!!
heh...
I joined FR 8 years before you did and Im telling folks to NOT vote for the socialist if the GOP actually nominates him at the convention.
Now what? F’er
By the way....its called freedom
__________________________________________
So why dont you let windflier have his to vote the way he wants to ???
If you value “freedom” why isnt it for everyone ???
What is your personal definition of “freedom” ???
If you vote for ABO youre demonstrating “freedom” ???
If you dont then youre ...what ???
Your tunnel vision you mean...
DNC -vs- GOP is ALL you see... EPIC FAILURE on your part....
The real battle is Socialism -vs- Freedom. And YOUR tunnel vision is going to allow you to not only vote for a socialist but also allow the ONLY major party that is at least meager opposition to socialism in this country become socialist as well.
You people are just F’ing BRILLIANT!!!
Everyone knows that OBAMA is the reason the democrat party is awful! Not because its filled with F’ing SOCIALISTS of which he is but ONE of... Oh, and romney is as well, and he is on the cusp of being nominated as the GOPs candidate!.. WOW... Just F’ing WOW!!!
Socialism CANT lose this election! Well, Unless we deny it the republican party that is... But my guess is that you idiots are too infected by tunnel vision to see that.
mitt truly cares what Conservatives think or wish.
*cough*
“The real battle is Socialism -vs- Freedom.”
I see it as Communism verses Capitalism.
Freedom? What freedom? We are all slaves. Slaves to the multiple tax enforcement agencies,(city-county-state-federal.) Our property is taxed. Our income is taxed. Our utilities are taxed. Then, when we spend earned money, which has already been income taxed, we pay another tax, the sales tax, which may include other taxes, like excise taxes, sin taxes, highway taxes, luxury taxes...etc
Finally, when we die, our estate is taxed. Then, what remains after the estate taxes are paid, may be passed to our heirs. Then, our heirs will be further taxed on their inheritance.
Best banner ever! (even though A&M is in it...)
No offense. I just cant stand the term capitalism...
Capitalism was a concept invented by Marx and Co as a boogieman. I prefer to not take the labels the enemy puts upon me.
The founders of this country never mention capitalism as one of their guiding principles, philosophies or ideologies.
All im interested in individual freedom and liberty from the state and collective. The things that flow from that are many, but one happens to also be free commerce.

Your Reply #34 implied that the presence of RINOs such as Lugar demonstrates that the GOP is no different from the "Rat Party and that we conservatives must therefore form a third party.
In my reply to you, I imply that the fact that Lugar has been retired is evidence that the GOP can be, and is being reformed into a more conservative party.
The point of your post was to call for a conservative third party. Lugar's forced retirement is very much relevant to your point.
Good luck trying to debate the ABR crowd. They just don’t want to hear that either the kenyan or Romney will be POTUS next year. We need to make a choice and vote based on that fact alone. Everything else is a distraction at this point.
This is a time for choosing and making no choice is a vote for the marxist kenyan usurper currently sitting in the WH.
Like my principles that won't let me vote for a pro-abortion, anti-gun, big government liberal?
I won't be voting for Obama or Romney.
/johnny
Two words: Sea Kayak.
Two more words: Deserted Island
Dewhurst will NOT win the runoff, because the turnout in those things is mini-miniscule and the tea party core will turn out in droves, but nobody else will. You’ll see, it’ll be Cruz winning in November against no real opposition.
Ya can't make this stuff up.
No, Dewhurst will win. He’s already almost there, he just needs a few Leppert votes.
But no one can tell me why Cruz is better. The whole campaign seems to have been focused on ... Cruz is a lawyer for the Chinese ... No,he’s not... Yes he is.
Dewhurst’s only fault that I can see is that he is an establishment Republican who has governed well and mostly focused on financial issues. Maybe Cruz is more conservative socially?
All I have heard this entire campaign is the china lawyer stuff.
Maybe the runoff will clarify some stuff. It’s a long way from Alaska to Texas and Sarah’s support doesn’t mean that much to me at this point.
Oh, please. We don’t care. It’s kinda like Obama taking the blacks for granted.
Texas is red and proud of it.
We don’t need no stinking phony thank yous.
Having someone who can beat Obama is thanks enough for us.
You people loved MurryMom. She was a liberal and rather clueless. She could easily be dismissed and made fun of.
What you can’t stand is a proven conservative like me... one whose posts go back 15 years and are all totally conservative. Someone who’s really been to tea party meetings, someone you can’t so easily dismiss.
Someone like me who sees your bluster and nonsense for what it is and who is proud to support Romney against Obama.
Blacks vote for blacks, Hispanics vote for Hispanics. You never noticed?
I’m not going to spend any time worrying about ROMNEY, at this point the Presidential race is meaningless to me.
Amen...but I love my country too much to leave it in the hands of Obama and his administration..I will be voting for the Republican nominee in November..
Sign up date means nothing by itself. Nothing at all. It’s past posting history that tells the real story.
I am not in Texas, but if Romney was the only presidential candidate on the ballot for the people of Texas, that reminds me of the old Soviet Union when Kruschev was the only one on the ballot. THANK YOU FOR SELECTING OUR CANDIDATE FOR US, AND RAMMING HIM DOWN OUR THROATS (Rove -”Let’s just stop this and put Romney in” - you know best, Rove), ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS!
Everyone but Perry was on the ballot in Texas..even Roemer.
I am from Texas. I voted in the Primary.
I’ll be voting for the Republican nominee..NO ONE tells me how to vote.
