A woman shot and killed her husband because he made an obscene gesture at her, according to police.
Tracey Grissom, 30, from Northport, Alabama, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of her husband Hunter Daniel Grissom, 28.
Sheriff Ted Sexton says the couple had a history of domestic violence.
According to the arrest warrant, Grissom was driving to work when she saw her ex-husband at a boat landing.
She stopped to take a photo of him for litigation related to their divorce.
Sheriff Sexton says several witnesses watched as the man made an obscene gesture and the woman opened fire around 8am yesterday morning.
Authorities say the woman called 911 after using all her ammunition and told them she shot her ex-husband.

It’s evil for reporters to discuss old “charges” without mentioning whether or not there was ever any indictment, trial or conviction. This stuff is in the public record. Why not disclose it? Anybody can “charge” anyone with anything. The press loves moral ambiguity.
Agreed. But the physical evidence is supportive, according to the story.
True. However, there are people who voluntarily engage in very rough “loveplay” that would produce similar evidence.
My point is merely that an allegation is just that, it is not a fact. It’s not necessarily what happened, it’s what she says happened.
BTW, this article is not exactly helpful to the CCW cause. This is not what CCW is supposed to be for.
She will walk.
Just like Mary Winkler or that Casey Anthony skank.
She reported that he bound her legs with his belt, dragged her from their closet into their master bedroom and sexually assaulted her.
Tracey told police she was then knocked unconscious on the floor of their bathroom and didn’t wake up until the next morning.
She went to the hospital for treatment following the alleged attack, and paperwork shows she had a gash on her head, bruises, bind marks on her feet and writing on her arm.
Court records show the couple have a four-year-old daughter together.

She was fed up, obviously. That poor little 4 yr old probably witnessed too much violence between these two for too long.
I’m with you in this.
I had to deal with a number of ex-wives - not mine - and just about anything can be slung around hoping to get something to stick to the wall.
Interesting that she drove to the boat ramp and was taking pictures of him when he made the gesture. So I would say the gesture was deserved - the shooting not.
I see a person that if loved and respected would have given the same back. So sad.
Well, I reckon she just saved a wad on the divorce...
Yep.
Is the boat for sale?
The US press starts with a conclusion, and tries to find evidence to support it. Like with the hulking White bully, George Zimmerman.
“If the charges against HIM were true, then the Texas defense applies.”
Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty and convicted as charged? Oh, yeah, the internet and keyboard kangaroos supercede the rule of law and judicial process.
OK...you’re bad... very bad.
I Loled
The physical evidence is also supportive of her being into BDSM, drugs, lying and manipulation of the legal system for leveredge in a divorce and custody dispute. We can safely presume this based upon the fact the state did not choose to prosecute him for the alleged and evidenciary felonies.
After failing to use the law to destroy her husband she shot him outright.
The first degree murder charge is very revealing. It indicates the authorities know she’s the bad one and had prior intent.
I hate to sound like a cynic, but I sure hope the two granmas don't have guns.
Gil will get to the bottom of all this. Good golly, what a sad situation.

Going on here in Eastern Kansas. Rheuban had previously been arrested for abusing his pet monkey and for owning a 200 pound mountain lion.
zing!
I’m with you. A good defense lawyer can get her off.
Or maybe, just maybe...
She's full of it. It's was all BS. She did it to herself or she was totally into that sort of thing. He broke up with her. So, she went down there with the intent to kill him.
Sorry. Seen too many “pretty” women who were manipulative harpies with all the skills of a trained actress. That picture means nothing to me. I learned a long time ago that when it comes to breakups things aren't always the way they seem. Sometimes a women that is physically weak or attractive can have have the brutal, vindictive mind of a killer.
Not Guilty
It's not unusual for wives to lie about mistreatment in divorce, in order to screw the husband and/or extort a better settlement.
In my opinion, she went to hunt down her husband for the specific purpose of murdering him, and thinks that her tale of mistreatment will get her off.
And another thing...
He does all this ‘stuff’ to her and still she goes closer to him? Close ehough that he could see her and make a gesture at her? And she just happens to have a loaded gun on her? Unless the gesture he made was to point a weapon at her she wasn’t in any danger at that time. If he was so dangerous, why did she go near him? Someone else could have taken the picture. No, something smells ‘off’ here. No matter what he did or didn’t do she went down there to kill him.
I tried to post a reply to the story and they called it spam — you be the judge.
“My divorce lawyer ex-girlfriend use to tell me that 10s don’t marry 2s! So if he was that bad, what’s her story?
Did she stop to reload? How many times was he hit? And, where? Did she police her brass?”
I thought the comment was pretty innocent but important questions to answer.
I don’t GAS what she looks like.
Guilty.
Hang her.
Hunter Grissom was previously charged with first degree rape, first degree sodomy, unlawful imprisonment and other drug-related charges. She was the victim of all this abuse. Her answer was “some people need killing”, and she will get no argument from me! I wouldn’t take odds the Grammies aren’t packing. It’s either carried by 6 or tried by 12, it’s their choice. Always remember: when seconds count, cops are only minutes away, they will get there in time to draw a chalk outline and give you a toe tag.
How does that help a four year old kid? Her father is dead, her mother is facing a long stretch in prison. (There is no accepted theory of self defense under which you are entitled to shoot someone for making a gesture at you.) I hope her grandparents have some adult in them, despite their obvious failures as parents.
As to the father’s defects and faults, we have only the word of his obviously embittered wife, hardly a reliable source. He may have been evil incarnate, or just a jerk, or possibly even just a poor schlemiel. I find little humor in this tragedy, and both of them appear to have acted badly.
Stop with the not guilty crap. She’s a fu*king murderer.
The shooter was also the alleged victim.
“Not guilty” in this context may not mean what you think it means.
FReepers declare the female accused “guilty” or “not guilty” depending on her relative attractiveness.
Regardless whether she should be convicted, I’d say that most guys would judge her “not guilty.”
Both happened to me during my divorce. My ex came at me with her fingernails as I was having the local police escort her out of my home. The attack was witnessed by two uniformed officers.
No arrest was made, no written notes were made of it. When I asked them why they told me "our policy is we don't arrest women for DV." I asked if I could get a written copy of that policy. Sadly, one was not available.
So shes available then...
Apparently, but one would have to exercise extreme caution around her...
Good points. To many in some areas, this would just be kinky sex, not an assault.
Similar thing happened to a former Tank Platoon Commander friend of mine down in Texas. She wanted to move out of the state in the divorce, and take the kids with her. He would not agree, sued for custody, and won.
Three weeks later, he goes on a business trip, and returns with a Sherriff waiting on his doorstep. In front of the neighbors, he’s hauled off in cuffs on the charge of child rape.
DA’s office interviews the mother, then interview’s the child (7 years old). DA is brought in, and he interviews the kid. He sends the kid to the shrink, who interviews her and they drop the charges on the basis that it was abundantly clear the mother had coached the kid as to what to say.
No marks on the body, no nothing. Just the kid’s accusation. Mom fesses up.
Nothing like a woman scorned.
he was only charged because he was contempt of court for not showing up to his trial and a warrant was out for arrest money talks and he had been dragging out the case for almost two years. Also he did this to her after she had just got out of the hospital and her kids were home and when he left her for dead cause he left the kids there to take care of themselves
no he just had a lot of money and been dragging out the charges She had a license for her gun if the case against him had been dropped they would have said dropped not pending read the story.
here so was a witness to the attack
kinky sex doesn’t end up with reconstructive Surgey
“here so was a witness to the attack”
I don’t understand.
So he was indicted but the trial was on hold? Why was he at large if he had been in contempt? Was he out on bail?
>She married him. What does that say about her?
Tough to say. Naive? She grew up in a bad enironment, so he seemed normal compared to her home life? He was just really charming, until he felt he had her locked into marriage?
If I was on the jury, she’d probably walk, if that rape looked legit. No way she could be expected to share custody of a daughter with that dude. If killing him was what it took....
The more you know about women the more you realize, almost any one of them can fall in with a guy like this, if he makes even the most rudimentary effort to hide his deviancy in the beginning, and others think he’s “fun.” It’s just how they’re programmed.
Once they believe they have a relationship with a guy, most all women will only see the best in ther man, and will rationalize every bad act as “not him.” That blind loyalty is either endearing or heartbreaking, depending on how it plays out.
God bless her and her child.
yes he was out on a 70,000 bail
