Thanks for finding & posting that. It takes the edge off.
If you do not like America get out! If you do not like Free Republic, go over to one of the anti-American Forums.
Every year a small US flag is placed on every lawn in our neighborhood.
Real Americans are proud of our flag.
You sound like a Move-on type.
Read post 56, don’t you think that manager will be fired for disobeying corporate orders to fly the flag, and causing them a national scandal and a public relations nightmare?
I hope the manager is fored for his actions. That does not change my opinion of this truckers actions. Unless he was in possession of that internal communication he was being a jack wagon.
If you have a flagpole, I hope you are flying the flag on Memorial day and every day.
Somehow I think you do not.
Went to Oklahoma a month or so ago and spent several days with my grandson, visiting nearby towns, going to parades, a couple of rodeos, etc. Awesome people up there. Never heard anyone speak anything but English. Stopped for gas in Denton on the way back to Houston - the first voice I heard after crossing back into Texas was someone speaking Spanish.
Not quite the same Texas it used to be.
Just wondering.
Whoever wrote that short but thorough response has to be a Texan, because he really knew how to word it for their customer base of truck drivers and patriots.
It took someone who 'gets it' and who speaks 'man', to write this.
"Despite the dangers associated with a customer climbing a pole, we applaud the actions of the driver inasmuch as he reminded all of us that issuing a policy is no substitute for action. It was a poignant reminder of the efforts and sacrifices made by service men and women; we will redouble our efforts to ensure this failure will not occur again."
Sure you would. What a stupid thing to say. Internet tough guys are so boring.
Don't really give a f*** what you think.
I have more time in the middle east fighting for the flag than you do on FR running head about it.
Perhaps, but internet sissies are ten times worse.
With you it is your over excitable childishness that keeps you from seeing this now resolved thread rationally, and angrily lashing out at people for no reason.
“In fact, the article makes the case that the country has become a caricature of itself overrun by lawyers and jingoists.”
The minute you use that word jingoists, you are so busted!!!
I understand that but I'm a Texan and we would call that the mildest form of a 'good old boy' taking needed action, harmless.
Corporate pointedly praised him in that quote in post 68.
My guess is that he may have read the situation with that anti-American manager over time, and that is what led to this action.
Liberal-tarian. :)
Paine won't get fired, but the guy you were defending probably will be, the owners of that private property, and his bosses, had told him to fly the flag.
""On May 23, all of our location managers were sent a reminder to fly the American flag on Memorial Day. As a company, we also distributed over 75,000 American flag window decals to customers at our locations in recognition of our active and veteran service men and women. Obviously, our franchisee-operated site in Denton, TX, failed to comply with that policy. For that, we sincerely apologize."""
C.B. radio = citizen’s band radio
I agree with you. Can you imagine youre at home, watching tv, and you hear a noise on your roof. You go outside to investigate and it’s some guy putting up a flag? Its my house, mind your damned business
... probably will be, the owners of that private property
If he was in violation of the property owner's instructions then he damn well should be fired. I would be quite happy with that. The video however makes no distinction between Travel Centers of America and the employee. Cowboy dude just says "they" took it down.
