Former US president Bill Clinton said he thought that fellow Democrat Barack Obama would be easily re-elected to the White House, even though polls currently show a close race.

"I still think the president will win by five or six points," Clinton told CNN, in an interview with movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Obama faces presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney in the November 6 election.

Romney has surged ahead of Obama in the southern battleground state of Florida, holding a 47-41 percent lead, according to a recent Quinnipiac University Polling Institute...

Of course Obama is. That is what happens when the Republicans pick a liberal as their candidate. Nobody can tell the difference and feels why not stick with the jerk we have instead of voting for a new jerk. Doesn’t surprise me one bit. The conclusion of this mess was determined when Romney got the nomination. America is screwed no matter what.

I’m beginning to think the weak economy is helping Obama, only in the fact that it’s causing more folks to be on the dole, and of course people will vote for whoever will provide free money as opposed to allow the economy to function.

That’s why the ‘Rats want as many people as possible living off the government, so they can control them. It’s a vicious cycle: Make the economy as bad as possible so there are no jobs forcing people to go on welfare/food stamps, then when the elections come around they can scare the shiet out of these people if they don’t vote ‘Rat. Then they vote ‘Rat and it begins all over again. They don’t get jobs, they live in absolute poverty hell, and elections come around and they vote Rat. Like I said many times; The ‘Rat party is evil incarnate. They enslave the population like a cancer through fear.

I'd love to have this horny slob's record on predicting elections since he left Washington. I'd bet its not very good.

In fact not too long ago a Clinton endorsement was tantamount to the political kiss of death.

Lets hope that hasn't changed.

Just another Democrat liar whistling past the graveyard. Billy boy knows the jig is up for Obama. Obama's camp is in absolute RED ALERT, full panic mode right now because their internals are so bad.

That's why Obama's holding 6 fund-raisers today. His campaign contributions are down, his support among all of the key demographic groups is down, and his record is abysmal.

Romney stands to win by double digits.

“Make the economy as bad as possible so there are no jobs forcing people to go on welfare/food stamps...”

###

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was JUST the generational inner city “welfare” parasites, even including the burgeoning growth in new welfare recipients. However, we should all be aware ALSO of the political allegiances from those hard working people at your local fire department, school district and municipal government bureaucracies for example.

Billy boy knows the jig is up for Obama.

Yes he does, and he couldn't be happier. Bill still hopes to convince Hillary to run in 2016. A crushing defeat for the Dems in 2012 would go a long way towards making that happen ("Hillary, you're our only hope this time around - you've GOT to run.")

Obama doesn’t have a prayer.

Clinton is just doing what you are expected to do.. what’s he going to say honestly? Obama’s been a disaster and going to lose by 10-20 points?

Obama has no chance of victory, and its laughable anyone is portraying this race as potentially close.

Obama will not win OH,FL,NC,VA,WI,IN,NH or IA. He likely will lose PA, CO, NM or MI as well.

He’s got a peak of about 42-43% nationally, he won’t score higher than that, if he does everything right.

Romney isn’t my choice, but this election isn’t about the republican, just like 08 its a referendum on the sitting president, and in every measurable manner this administration has been a disaster, and will fail and fail miserably at its referendum.

The way his campaigns running right now, attacking Bain capital, and trying to attack Romney’s economic record, and other foolish things like that, its lucky if he will see 40% on election day.

I’m no fan of Romney, but he’s going to win and win big, for the sheer and simple reasons, hes not obama. Mickey Mouse would beat Obama by at least 10-15 points.. This guy can’t win. Not only can’t he win, but he, and Reid and Pelosi have done such a piss poor job that I’d say its well better than even money that the Senate will have 60 or more republicans in it next term and major house pick ups as well.

But the thing is unemployment checks are ending or have ended for millions. I suspect a large reason for Romney's poll number improvement is due to this. He started going up at just about exactly the same time that the extension ended.

Clinton has an abysmal record of prediction. Usually his support is the kiss of death. He is in WI campaigning against Walker.

Yes, that's what I'm thinking--Clinton thinks Hillary's chances are better in 2016 if there is a Republican incumbent. It's hard for the same party to win 3 times in a row--GHWB did so largely because of Reagan's continuing popularity, but that won't be the case in 2016 if Obama is still in office.

But the Edwards verdict yesterday is bad news for Hillary--now she has to worry about him running in 2016. For Democrats, he may be more attractive because he is even sleazier than Hillary.

Indeed, it isn’t just the utter fiscal insanity, but perhaps more fundamentally to what ails us, the ongoing social and moral destruction.

You made the case well. I hope you are correct, come November.

Bill’s got what? A 96% failure rate of candidates he’s endorsed so this could be a good thing.

I guess I don’t see how winning by five or six electoral votes is “easily”. That’s pretty darn close.

Forty five years ago it was predicted that the hippies of that day would be running the US today.

Unfortunately it has come true.

Yes, Clinton knows Obama will lose, and yes, he is delighted; the operative word in that statement was “still”—the acknowledgment that it is no longer the consensus of even members of his own party that Obama’s win is likely. He gets to look loyal even as he signals (for his own purposes) that Obama is going down. And (bonus) Clinton gets to think he is sooper-dooper clever about the whole dodge, because most people will get the message but not know how they got the message.
