The Constitution declares that everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defense.

This seems judicial tyranny to the effect this guy is just being harrased. When he gets off and all his lawsuits settle, he’s going to be rich.

If he and his wife lied to the court, he deserves to have his bail revoked.

Typical mis-characterization by the leftist media.

Why not say the truth...that Zimmerman shot the man in self defense while the man was slamming his head on the concrete?

With return of the bond? As I recall, he didn't 10% out with bail and run. He's got big chips in the game at this point. Or the family does. He's a frigging pauper. I would be...

You do know the difference between bail and bond, right?

Am having the same thoughts. He is being set up.

If he goes to jail and an accident befalls him OR more likely he "commits suicide," then there will be no trial. Without a trial the very essence of the truth will never be resolved. And the corrupt communists can use the case in any manner they choose.

One caveat . . . If in fact Zimmerman did not declare nor hand in the second passport (Peruvian, most likely), then the courts can not look kindly onto that fact alone. Perjury is a bitch. Just ask Billy Boy Clinton.

I agree. OK, he set up a defense fund...it went ballistic and everybody KNEW it. Could it be that in all the confusion what with his life in danger and ruined for the most part that he didn’t think that it had to be reported? Could it be for the same reasons he forgot about a second visa? Hell’s Bell’s I’m suprised he has sense enough to remember his name FCOL! I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and I wish him luck. Like another poster said after all is said and done he’s got a hellova law suit and I hope he files one.

He's got a long wait for the trial sometime in 2013 according to his lawyer.

His lawyer wants to depose 50 witnesses before the trial.

And therein lies another reason why the scum running the unJustice system will McDougal him in jail ... if he is exhonerated his lawsuits will be that much stronger. Of course when Holder called the stupid (-——) prosecutor and told her to prosecute this guy or else blacks would burn Floriduh, Eric didn’t care if the suits bankrupted a Floriduh district since his criminal enterprise hates Floriduh anyway for the 2000 election cycle. But this is too obvious a set up. George needs prayers to keep him alive now.

Lying to a Judge, what was he thinking?

Let's say it was you. It took every penny of your money (and your family's money) to pay the extremely high bail.

Now, people across the nation DONATE money to go to your LEGAL EXPENSES (Lawyer).

Based on what you see in the 'news' you know it is going to take every penny to pay the lawyer. Ergo... you will never see a penny of that money. Another way to look at it... If you have $100,000/yr income, and your yearly expenses are $110,000, how RICH are you?

WITHOUT that donation money, it is also likely you cannot afford the type of legal representation that will be necessary to deal with this kind of FEDERALLY ORDERED LYNCHING.

The amount of bail set by the JUDGE is supposed to be determined by the 'type' of crime and the likelihood of whether you will try to FLEE.

Zimmerman already made a deal with the LE that he would let top officials know where he was, to ensure he could not flee.

The whole point of REVOKING and RESETTING the bail amount, at this time, is to take away the FUNDS that the public donated for his LEGAL DEFENSE.

Wear those shoes, and see how you feel, and what you think you would do.

Me, I don’t know the difference between bail and bond. They both start with “B”. All I know is that more money is to be dished out of Mr Zimmerman’s pocket.

Why didn’t they assess how much all his stuff is worth? (wife’s jewelry, car, computers TV etc...?)

Why don’t they just drain his blood from his body? Hang him and get it over with? We all know what the root of this is.

Wouldn’t that satisfy the black lynch mob?

When George turns himself in on Sunday all the judge's freaking out over ACCUSATIONS of impropriety during the bond hearing will be rendered moot since “flight risk” was the root issue of the hearings in the first place!!!

Maybe I too am of the Vince Foster paranoia club in that I can understand why the Left would put someone in a situation where their death would be both “accidental” and fortuitous—meaning, in Zimmerman's situation, a jailhouse Jeffrey Dahmer “accident”...

...and the Clintons got nothing on Chicagoland!

Heck, why stop there, fine the donators. Shut down paypal for allowing the money to go to Mr Zimmerman's account.

Why is it legitimate for the legal system to penalize GZ or any other defendant by imposing a bail so high they know a bondsman will be required and a non-refundable 10% will be charged?

What would a higher bail do in this instance? All that would happen is the enrichment of another bondsman. GZ would have money taken from him by the state. Why isn’t this considered punishment before trial?

Now I recognize that lying to the court is not to be condoned, but it is not a good reason to imprison him until trial.

Bad screwup on his part, but somewhat understandable.

The court has to recognize that if he did go on the run, a lot of people would support him through contributions...

BAIL is the CASH money you pay to the BONDSMAN to get you out of jail. You do NOT get this money back, ever. It is usually around 10% of the actual BOND.

BOND is a piece of paper (a promissory note) that the BONDSMAN gives the court for the full amount set by the Judge.

If you appear for trial, the JUDGE dismisses the BOND (the BOND is released), and the BONDSMAN is not out any money at all, and has made a profit of the 10% of the BOND.

If you do not appear, the BONDSMAN then must pay the full amount of the BOND (make good on the note). This makes the BONDSMAN very mad, and he/she will pay HANDSOMELY for a SKIP TRACER (Bounty Hunter) to find you, because that’s an awfully large amount of money to come up with. So... they find you and retrieve you, dead or alive.

I know it was sarcasm, but the Judge could NOT do those things.

What he can do is what he is doing. Trying to ensure that Mr. Zimmerman does not have the means for a proper legal defense.

I have never heard of a JUDGE setting the BOND based on the defendant's 'income' (real, imagined, or pending).

I have seen Judge's set the BOND for crimes involving RAPE, MURDER, and BILLIONS of DOLLARS of theft way lower than Zimmerman's, based on the concept that they were 'low' flight risks.

Mr Zimmerman did not “earn” that money, how can he claim that it was his?

He’s been through a lot. His brain had to be fried by what was happening to him. How can any court expect him to think clearly?

I’m sure some of us honestly forget to declare something either because we are so used to something or it is so new that we haven’t accepted it as our possession yet.

Anyway, he got that money AFTER the self defense shooting, not before.

I’m just wondering if this isn’t one way that the judge could stop donations coming in.
Another thought is that the Martins have NOT been able to raise as much as Mr Zimmerman has.

I'm afraid Zimmerman may not live to his trial. It could be like the defendant in To Kill a Mockingbird: "killed while attempting to escape." Or maybe just killed by another inmate.

I don't think they like the idea of Zimmerman being able to have a lawyer to defend him.

I'm not sure what the real reason why this story got so much coverage. Because of the "Stand Your Ground" law and their desire to get rid of the right of self-defense? Or because it was a rare case of a "white" person (who turned out to be Hispanic and part-black) killing a black person--to divert attention from the fact that most blacks who are killed are killed by other black people? Or because Jesse Jackson wants to relive the 1960s and needed someone to symbolize the bad old days in the South?

Or is it to send a message to "crackers" that they have no right to a fair trial in Obama's America?

The 'Rats didn't get away with lynching the Duke lacrosse players, but now they've got Zimmerman in their sights.

AFAIK, “bail” is the amount that has to be posted with the court. “Bond”, or “bail bond” is the non-refundable fee you pay to a bail bondsman, in return for the bondsman posting your bail.
