President Barack Obama seems to think that the world of politics would be better if someone like John McCain were running for the White House.
It's all a way of drawing a contrast with Obama's current GOP rival, Mitt Romney, and trying to convince crucial independent voters that the former Massachusetts governor is outside the mainstream.
But Obama's flattering memories of McCain conflict with their campaign clashes of 2008. Back then, Obama hammered his rival as "out of touch" with many of the problems facing people in the United States.
Today's platitudes also conceal the reality of Obama's current dynamic with McCain. The senator is one of the president's staunchest critics on everything from health care to foreign policy, and he's a vocal Romney supporter.
Obama's take on McCain has become a standard part of his fundraising appeal to donors. As the general election heats up, the Obama campaign is relishing more opportunities to try to turn its former foe into an asset.
When Romney didn't condemn his supporter Donald Trump for raising more questions this week about the president's citizenship, the Obama campaign dug up old video clips of McCain correcting supporters in the 2008 who said they were scared of Obama and one clip of a supporter who thought he was an "Arab."
"As the Republican nominee, John McCain stood up to the voices of extremism in his party," an Obama Internet video says. It then asks why Romney won't do the same.

Romney won't make the same mistake and that has Obama running scared.
Obama is becoming pathetic.
Of course Obama thinks Romney is out of the mainstream. As much as I don’t like him, Romney’s not a dyed in the wool socialist. Thats what Obama considers mainstream. If Romney is smart he will pick that up and hammer Obama with it.
Obama doesn’t know HOW to fight for anything. He is and has been an affirmative action case all his life....Handed good grades, Good Jobs, State and Federal offices because of his skin colour. He expects the Republican nominee to just “be There” and roll over dead so Obama can win once again.
Of course Zero and the RATS would love to see McCain types running every 4 years. It’s like having 2 democrats running at the same time.
In my view, yours is a very accurate and pragmatic assessment. I entirely agree.
If you look at Baraq’s election wins, they were all over extremely flawed opponents.
He’s like a guy who got to be heavyweight champ but never fought a guy with a winning record.
I’m convinced the Chicago mob had incriminating evidence on the Clintons (Arkancides) and they were intimidated from outing Baraq’s fake history.
Obama is going to have to punch above his weight this time around.
This falls under the Department of this,http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=back%20obama%20%2Cokey%20doke&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CF0QtwIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dgh69Zi2rV-U&ei=DhvKT4zWJ4i16gGkiJkG&usg=AFQjCNGIeUdlXZ3iEAMYX7cqPNwx50G9qw
The most important thing Obama likes about McCain is that McCain LOST to Obama, because McCain refused to fight tooth-and-nail.
Like the Kenyan bastard, Panama Juan was never eligible to run for president or VP.
Panama Juan must have realized he had been sniffed out/unmasked (with solid proof); and therefore, he stopped fighting.
Romney already is running a far better campaign than McLame.
Romney wants to win and it shows.

The Republicans can expect the same thing on steroids this year--in fact it has been going on for several months, but so far all their lines of attack have failed.
Romney WILL win. He knows how to fight ... consider how he eliminated his GOP Rivals. Look how fast his team took on “Anne Romney has never worked a day in her life”, or how his team brought up the fact that Obama was raised eating dogs. He will take it to Axelrod in the streets and hire just as many hecklers as Obama will. And, when Romney wins, he will reach out to those Evangelical Christians who have tried to undermine his campaign. I look forward to great days ahead!
Zero wishes he could just be declared President for life...or perhaps Emperor.
“Obama is becoming pathetic.”
Becoming????!!
I voted for Ron Paul in the primary - but for me its A B O.
and you know what - mittens so far is showing he will fight obama everywhere all the time.
His solyndra move this week proved to me that he is the anti-McCain and will go down fighting till the end.
FUBO!!!!
I actually supported Michele Bachman until she tanked and then pinned my hopes on Herb Cain but I so enjoy Romney moves like the Solyndra Show or the paid “tit for tat” hecklers. I look forward to Romney’s trip to a Travel Agency to take on Michelle’s Million Dollar vacations. We are in for exciting times.
While Romeny is picking up that HAMMER he can use it drive Obama’s socialist Sickle right thru his vampire heart! I hope Romeny puts his foot on Obama’s neck and never lets him up. Romeny can define the election by keeping on the Record Obama has compiled and slinging the same cow-dung Obama does but before he has defend more of the same.
He needs to go to Keystone site and do the same thing, then the gulf for drilling, then boieng, then gibson guitars, etc. ,
My sense is that McCain has never run a competitive race in his life, apart from going up against Bush in 2000 in the primaries and Obama in 2008. As a GOP senatorial candidate, his war hero record won his primary races, and as long as the electorate was majority Republican, he was a lock. Romney - on the other hand - has run only competitive races. His races in MA have been really difficult, given that he does represent the GOP, whereas the electorate is overwhelmingly liberal. He went up against McCain in 2008 with a liberal/moderate record established by his races in MA, as contrasted against McCains war hero record. Its a miracle he was the runner-up. Im still surprised that he won the GOP nomination this time around, given the amount of flak that came his way. Hes not my candidate of choice, but hes certainly someone who doesnt shrink from a challenge, whether in the business or political world.
GlockThe Vote (The Obama Adminstration: 2nd wave of attacks on America after 9/11)
Your signature line is highly accurate!
People need to realize it and NOT allow Obama to get a second term to complete his planned destruction of the USA.
Except that the Obama fund raising has been seriously under performing this year. Doesn't look like Obama will get the $1 billion he wanted.
Did anyone notice that Romney gave a speech at Solyndra yesterday and the only network that mentioned it was Fox News?
“...Obama is becoming pathetic....”
We all know liberalism, or whatever name you want to call it, is a chronic deteriorating mental disease. However in zippy’s case, I think what we’re seeing is him slipping off into complete insanity. I think he’s losing it totally and his handlers are beside themselves with what to do with him. I would not be surprised in the least to see zippy with a total mental breakdown before the election and the DNC run Hitlery in his place.
Doesnt matter - it went viral on the web, facebook, etc.
Network news is meaningless lately.
Mittens is doing all the right things to get the right excited to oust obama.
His attack team at Axelrods presser - same thing.
Obama and Axe are SCARED TO DEATH of an agressive Romney.
Romney has the apperance of a mature business person while Obama looks like an angry petulant baby.

I agree. In addition, Romney and his wife don't hate America. They don't hang out with terrorists, communists, and other radicals. They believe in free enterprise. They are not anti-business. Romney actually understands that you can't build an economy by increasing the public sector at the expense of the private sector. Whereas Obama envisions a weakened America among the nations of the world as a positive objective, Romney does not agree. I could go on and on comparing Romney, though imperfect, to Obama.
Comparing Romney to McCain, one thing I absolutely hated and still hate about McCain is that he takes delight in shafting his own party. He is attention wh%re who loves siding with the Democrats as much as possible so that he can be in the news and have the MSM say nice things about him. He just loves to be called a “maverick”. So, of course if Obama had his choice in the matter he would rather be fighting against McCain rather than Romney!

Myth has a couple real positive aspects that McCain did not...that being very few skeletons in the closet...no Senate record to exploit
If the worse the dems can do is a dog on his roof and he beat up a kid 50 years ago....
His record as Governor in a very liberal state is specious at best for a conservative, but a vast majority of the mussy middle could care less....which translates into votes...
What I’ve noticed, here in NY and in wandering around TV Channel sites on the web is that local newsies are giving the Reps and Romney far more objective coverage than the Nets. Romney’s visit to Solyndra and his tit for tat in Boston may not have made it on to the Nets but the locals covered them. Here in NYC I’ve seen quite objective coverage on the locals and i mean the Net affilliates, and not just Fox5. Romney knows this and he knows more folks watch their local news than watch the Big 3. His team knows what they’re about. And as I said on a HotAir thread four days before Hugh Hewitt blogged it, Romney’s inside Obama’s OODA loop. McCain started there and punked out, but Romney or his team must have experienced the presentation because they’ve got Boyd’s ideas down and solid.
They want to shame Romney into not talking about O'' past. The clip they used with McCain is a woman concerned about his terrorists ties
very asinine concept ---why can't you campaign like the last guy who lost..whaa
I live in the Bronx - and believe it or not i see few or any obama stickers. Sure there are a few since there are so many blacks, but NOTHING like 2008.
Hmm, let me take a guess. It might be because McCain lost. This has to be one of the dumbest Internet videos I have ever seen. The whole video is begging Romney to model has campaign after a loser. I have no idea who they think that video will reach.
Wonder how those idiots that responded to the video are feeling today? Guess it would depend if they’re Kool-aid drinkers or people that were easily fooled.
Obama’s correct about this. He doesn’t know how to handle a candidate that won’t cave in and endorse him for Preezy. Of course, it could very well still happen after the Convention.
GOPe candidates have a bad habit of falling down at the finish line.

John Jackson: "It's time someone had the courage to stand up and say: I'm against those things that everybody hates."
Jack Johnson: "Now, I respect my opponent. I think he's a good man. But quite frankly, I agree with everything he just said."
John Jackson: "I say your three cent titanium tax goes too far."
Jack Johnson: "And I say your three cent titanium tax doesn't go too far enough."
A Free per pointed out yesterday that McCain never experienced an all-out political campaign against real opponent. AZ voters and many Republicans in the 2008 primary was awed by his war hero status, but there’s not much beyond that.
I just need to post because this strikes me as so crazy and bizarre. When have we had a sitting president wish to run against a former opponent?
What is wrong with this guy? Does he want the GOP to just throw Mitt over and bring in McCain to suit him?
