The bleak jobs report on Friday predictably had heads snapping toward the White House, looking to President Obama to do something. Yet his proposed remedies only underscore how much the president, just five months before he faces voters, is at the mercy of actors in Europe, China and Congress whose political interests often conflict with his own.
That day, Mr. Obama continued his weekly travels around the country, prodding Congressional Republicans to pass his to-do list of temporary tax cuts and spending initiatives to help create jobs. The Republicans only mock him, which leaves Mr. Obama free to blame his opponents and their presidential standard-bearer, Mitt Romney. But in doing so, he telegraphs a message of powerlessness that no leader likes to convey least of all one who ran for office four years ago vowing to bridge Washingtons partisan gulf.
Developments overseas have not helped either. American officials have complained as Beijing began letting its currency devalue again, making its exports cheaper and those from the United States to China more costly. And administration officials, and Mr. Obama himself, have lobbied leaders in Europe for more forceful action to promote growth or at least contain the threat of financial contagion there.
In his weekly address on Saturday, recorded on Friday at a Honeywell International plant near Minneapolis, the president cited the global woes buffeting the economy. But he singled out Congress for rebuke.
While we cant fully control everything that happens in other parts of the world, there are plenty of things we can control here at home, Mr. Obama said. There are plenty of steps we can take right now to help create jobs and grow this economy.

So my message to Congress is: Get to work, he added.
Why should he mention Republicans, his own party isn’t doing what he wants budget-wise? He’s one big losing proposition following him would just be more of the same—losses for our country and our freedoms.
Yup...we all need to go out and buy “thingamajigs”...
Obamas answer to the WW2 War Bond..

No, this IS Obamaville... we’re getting exactly what he ordered, poverty for all...
I clicked on this story via Drudge’s page....and obviously I wasn’t the only directed there from Drudge.
It was a hoot to finally read the comments section and see the Times (and its readers) put in their place.
Of course...if you click on the NY Times Recommended Comments tab, you get the usual idiocy.
Green jobs, green shoots, cash for clunkers, PORKULUS, Recovery summer, shovel ready jobs, and the epic fail list goes on on and on.
hands are tied??? I have one word in response: Keystone!
Barry is a failure but it’s not his fault. LOL!
Critics must fair?
Either 0bama is a liar or an idiot.
Zero lied when he ran in 2008 or Zero was an idiot who couldn’t understand economics and promised the skies and gold paved streets, unaware that he could not deliver.
Which is it, fool or incompetent?
Well, New York Slimes?
Answer the question.
If that's true, America is finally headed in the right direction.
The Republicans have controlled the House for 16 months. During the 24 months prior to that (from the start of the Ubama regime), the rats had full control of everything, including a super majority in the Senate. The Republicans have control of one chamber of congress and Ubama is suddenly helpless?? And nothing is his fault??
By the way, for you younger freepers out there the New York Times was at one time a reputable publication. It wasn't always a big city version of The Daily Collegian, replete with a newsroom full of jack-in-the-box clowns comprised mostly of homosexuals, metrosexuals, affirmative-action incompetents, and feminist loons. Forty+ years ago, when I was in high school, the New York Times was trusted as a legitimate source for news and reasoned editorial positions.
Sure, the New York Times has always been an unabashed mouthpiece for the Democrat party, but the paper used to attempt to explain that support in a rational manner. The people in charge back then were grownups, and they had some shame. That was a long, long time ago.
Well, New York Slimes?
Answer the question.
Neither one is the correct answer. Barry Hussein Obama could not be this dumb or incompetent.
While you wonder what the third correct answer is, have you ever figured out WHY Obama illegally attacked Libya? Every wonder WHY Libya is talking about Sharia law now?
Ever wonder WHY Obama supports the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt? Ever wonder WHY Obama is dumping $$ into Egypt? Ever figure out the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization?
How about Obama insulting Israel? Ever seen a Muslim who liked Israel? Dang it, I gave away part of WHY Obama is destroying the US on purpose. He doesn't work for us, he works for THEM. All our Muslim Manchurian candidate has to do is enable the leftist radicals and add fuel to their fire when appropriate. Ever seen a President who wanted race riots? It's every Muslim's dream to watch America burn this summer.
0bamao is as muslim as he is Christian. Meaning, he is neither. 0bamao IS a Marxist slug, though. At this point in history, muslims are a means to an end and 0bamao will use them as useful tools. 0bamao has no problem killing muslims if doing so is to his benefit.
Obama plays leftist to enable the leftists. Yes he was raised radical left but it his vehicle to damage the US.
Obama has done everything a Muslim Terrorist would do if he were elected POTUS. He has done nothing an American would do to help America recover. In short, Obama is working for them. But it doesn't make much difference if you believe Obama is a Muslim terrorist or a left wing nut, he will finish destroying the US if he is re-elected.
You and I won't know for sure if Obama really is a Muslim terrorist until it is too late to do anything about it.
